Call me Billy Hatcher cuz I'm out here crackin' eggs.
Just read for 3 hours straight. 200 pages. My back hurts. My head hurts. I'm in disbelief. I am enraged. I am conflicted. I'm in relief. I'm in shock. Best fucking book I've ever read. I was not expecting anything that happened to happen.
I know I said I read for 3 hours straight. I lied. I read for 3 hours gay. You know why? It was Song of Achilles.
Timothée Chalamet in WONKA (2023) dir. Paul King
Ugh, this film is so fucking good. Max and Hanno had something beyond chemistry.
Spoilers for Project Wingman but I just want to talk about a moment in that game that hits me SO HARD it still makes my hair stand up. During the end-game boss fight, the final stage strips away all the glory commonly found in the Ace Combat game's final bosses.
The hud melts away, replaced by two boss health bars.
One for him, one for you.
The music fades, replaced by a lone sombre cello.
This is no heroic joust to save the world - It's a violent aerial knife fight to become king of the ruined skies over a burning world. All you can hear is the final boss panting and screaming over the open radio as he desperately tries to fight - no - to SURVIVE you.
What little dialogue he can muster through insane G-forces is spent on his scathing opinion of you. While the world sees two kings of the skies, he sees you for who you are; A killer without conscience. Everything he's done has been for a reason, Every atrocity for a bigger picture, every nightmare for an ideal... but you? You're just here for the money.
Now don't you feel like a hero taking him out?
hey actually baller fuckin plot twist
nice
it was good to reread it because i noted down some thoughts and questions to revisit / fill out. I don't think all of it will come up in the next sequel, but it's good to have note of it.
very interesting to reread it like 9 months later. i have NOOOO memory of writing most of this, even if I know factually what the events were, so honestly? brand spankin new to me
