Amphitrite likes to watch the sunset by the beach by herself on a mild windy day. She sits on a swing held by one of the tree branches, her feet dipped in the sea as she lightly swings back and forth while staring at the edge of the ocean. She plays this playlist and smiles at the sound of the crashing waves accompanying the music. When it gets darker, she heads inside to do a shot with her friends and dance.

Amphitrite is the Queen of seas and Poseidon’s wife. She was a personification of the sea itself. She’s a calm and gentle person, and apparently benevolent as well. Her body moves so fluidly that it’s entrancing to watch her dance and enjoy herself. No wonder Poseidon fell in love with her when he saw her dancing.

a journey to self-love

There are stars everywhere, he thinks. Brilliant bursts of white and the most colorful streaks of blue, pink, and violet. Cold, he thinks, fingers passing seamlessly through dazzling wisps of color. Cold. At least, there's that feeling, of frost blooming against his skin to remind him he ever touched those colors at all. 

Frost.

Snow.

Dark, dark hair.

It's another one of those nights.

Night.

Day.

Warm, brown eyes.

He awakens in his own bed. Or falls into it, rather. At least, that's what it feels like. Soft, white sheets. A tanned wooden floor. A white, flawless ceiling matched with white, flawless walls. A single, wide window that stares out into the open sea. At least, he thinks it's the sea.

There's no telling where here is, or when here is.

But here has been home since he began remembering.

He sits up slowly, carefully, and pads his way to the inviting window. Satin curtains billow gently as the wind blows against him. He sits, wrapping his arms around his knees. Quiets that small, biting voice at the back of his mind. Pushes away that budding, nagging prickling at his chest.

Here, he is content, peaceful.

Here, he is home.

At the center of the universe is a single deity. Rumored of, but never seen. Sought after, but never found.

Powerful. Pure.

And ultimately, alone.
