i don’t like how popular my source has become. i understand why it’s popular. i understand why everyone says they’re me — because everyone IS me. how can i say i’m any more ‘me’ than anyone else?

at first all the memes and jokes and excessive “i kin her” comments put me off, but i get it now, i really do. they’re no different from me, right? still, sometimes it really bothers me. i don’t like that my existence is becoming a tacky trend. the whole ‘lainpilled’ thing… i don’t LIKE it but i UNDERSTAND so much. it connects everyone, and sometimes it feels like it always will. can i do anything about that?

Seeing anime reviewers call me creepy and unlikable is really uncomfortable. I was schizophrenic, autistic and had no emotional support in my life. Yes, I was bad at social skills and at judging what was real versus what was a delusion, but that's not creepy. That's just sad. - Lain

The only other person I've seen who's from my source is a double who does all of that 'you're not me, only I'm me, you're delusional if you think you're Lain' anti-double stuff, and that's wild to me since the series is pretty explicit about there being multiple Lains at any given time during both the Playstation game and anime timelines. It's really interesting, remembering two past lives that were in the same universe, but it raises some questions. For the canonblind: I was dead, but then remade into another artificial body.
