Aaaand I am out on The Crowned Clown. It’s beautifully shot and well-written and acted, but I have very few deal-breakers in fiction and it just hit it - an on-screen murder of a small child.

I don’t care if it’s done to show the King is evil and thus OK with poisoning his small half-brother or if it’s done to show the drama’s street cred.

The older I get, the more intolerant I get of watching cruelty on screen and the less inclined I get to watch things I find brutal and unpleasant and to push past my reflexive disgust to find other, good things in it.

You kill a small child on screen and I am out, I don’t care what else you do or don’t do with your story.
