The way I see it, there are two solutions to the whole “dependents between the ages of 17 and however old get nothing from the US Covid-19 Stimulus Package”.
Option One (my least favorite option): People who are independent get the full stimulus check (or whatever portion of it if they make more than 75K a year) as already written. People who have dependents OF ANY AGE (rather than just under the age of 17) get an extra $500 per dependent.
Option Two (the option that actually helps more people): People who are independent get the full stimulus check (or whatever portion of it if they make more than 75K a year) as already written. People who have dependent under the age of 17 get an extra $500 per dependent. Dependents age 17 and older, if qualify as far as having filed taxes and all that good stuff, get the full stimulus check (if a dependent makes more than 75K a year I’d just like to talk)
What the US Government Chose: Option Three: People who are independent get the full stimulus check (or whatever portion of it if they make more than 75K a year). People who have dependents under the age of 17 get an extra $500 per dependent. Dependents who are age 17 and up can get fucked.
