Hello all. I am MrProtagonist, but I am refereed to as Pro. I have run the McMetaverse server network for over 4 years. We have been host to a wide variety of servers, including survival, economy, Tekkit, Feed the Beast, Hunger Games, Mini Games, and the utilization of Bungeecord.     If you have ANY questions about plugins, permissions, configs, theories, or anything else related to running or admining a server, I'm your guy.

Life of a Minecraft Server Owner

This is going to be a blog of what my daily life is just to keep a server up, running well and getting new players.

So I wake up, have my coffee and ready to get the laptop. One of the things I do is to bring up my server's control panel. I check the console and make sure everything is ok. Check logs and check for any errors that I need to address. Check all of my social networking sites I have under my server name "Doreeworld Gaming Community" the main ones I need to check multiple times during the days in my Facebook Groups ( I have at the least 6 groups since we are not just Minecraft http://www.facebook.com/DoreeworldGamingCommunity). I check my forum and make sure everyone that has asked to join is approved or rejected http://www.doreeworld.com/forum/index.php. Check the "unread post since on last" (again the forum is not just for Minecraft). I do spend a good amount time doing this as I do with the Facebook Groups. Check the email that I have for the server/community [email protected].

I then go back to the control panel and check if there is a new bukkit build I may need to update to and update if needed. Check to see if there are updates to any of my plugins and if so I update them and do whatever is required while doing this (adding new perms and so on). At this point the server is up to date on the bukkit build and the plugins. I take my daily back-up and then delete the back-up from the day before then copy the new backup to my laptop. 

So at this point in the day the server is running great and up-to-date! Now to get players. I make sure to vote on all the sites that let you vote for your server. Then I post on my Facebook Minecraft Group  http://www.facebook.com/groups/Doreeworld/ a reminder  to everyone to go vote for the server and supply the links of everywhere to vote. I then check the server to be sure I have at the least 2 staff members on. I look at the list I have of where I have posted/listed/advertised my server. Some of them let you can update daily (Planet Minecraft) and I go ahead and update those. Next on the list are ones that I need to recreate the listing for new players to see. After I have created the new listings on those sites I go to all the other sites and see is there anything I need to add or change on the the listings and go ahead and do that.

At this point I am ready to go in game.........................
