Theatre help me pls

hello! I am currently trying to design a play for a college assignment. I just need to find the play first. I am looking for something set in Russia, Paris, Berlin (major European cities) London or New York, set anywhere from the 1890 - 1920s as a guideline. I want it to be about class divide and poverty and social injustice and emigration/pogroms, revolution, maybe too etc... This is all just an initial idea that I would love to explore, so anyone who can think of a play, or send me pictures from places in that time both rich and poor. Or any music or literature I should research, any art styles (nouveau, deco etc...) or themes that you think might relate PLEASE send them to me. Even if it's not entirely related, like 1847 or 1782 it would be so appreciated. Also, tv shows and films set then. so far my inspiration is Indecent, The Great Comet (on a smaller scale), The Alienist, War and Peace, Anna Karenina, Jack the Ripper, Harlots. Stories about people is what I want. If you can think of a Shakespeare or a Classic play that could work in this setting I will happily take the suggestion or even a mood board/concept /aesthetic from 1650s Edinburgh, I will take anything and everything at this point. Also, music like klezmer and folk is great!

This project is all hypothetical so it won't be performed or staged but I am designing the set (model box), and costumes, and budgeting, and doing stage management paperwork and scene changes so information and advice are also greatly appreciated.

I've been thinking a lot about ways to contribute to displaying a high quality of work for young designers to look to as inspiration, be it for creating paperwork, presenting a portfolio, or otherwise displaying their work.

If you feel inclined to upload your work, please know that this will be in a public dropbox folder (as listed below), so censor information (contact info/addresses) as you see fit.

The intent of this project is to create a crowdsourced resource for students, professionals, or interested parties to gain an insight into how we work; this will not be used commercially.

Feel free to upload files however you'd like. I'll go through and rename/reorganize files into a structure that is easy to navigate for all.

I just learned about Scenery Bags and I’m in LOVE. Stage manager Jen Kahn makes one-of-a-kind clutches from retired backdrops. Inside each bag is a tag that tells you what show it’s from. The pictured design, from a show called Desert Song, is sold out, but you can sign up on her site to be alerted to the next run!

A portion of proceeds from each bag is donated to TDF’s Stage Doors program, which gives middle and high school students with a meaningful introduction to live theatre by attending a Broadway or Off Broadway performance and participating in in-class workshops.

The best prop my team ever made for me were letters for a showing of Brontë. They were destiel fanfics converted into French using google translate. I've never been more proud of a team.

Y’all I got my amazing Scenery Bag yesterday! Just in time for the holidays, and coincidentally made from a drop from a 2012 production of White Christmas.

I was a little nervous choosing my bag, since you choose based on a production photo and don’t totally know what your design will look like! But I like these sort of abstract neutrals. And a portion of the sale helps kids go see shows, which I love.

Great experience and customer service, love the bag, wish I’d ordered 10 more for gifts!
