“do you still love me?” the question rang through your ears as you watched her walk away. you felt dizzy, wondering how you even got here. her figure got smaller and smaller as she descended down the dark concrete path, her hair flowing in the wind. you finally came to your senses and began running, ignoring how it felt like weights were attached to your feet. you sprinted as fast as you could before she could disappear into the fog, but you weren’t quick enough. you tripped over your own feet and by the time you looked up, she was out of sight.
no…
no…
“no!” you shot up out of bed, sitting up dazed in a panic. your heart was racing and your hair stuck to your forehead due to the sweat collecting on your skin. your blanket had come off in your sleep, and you had knocked a pillow off of your bed. you panted as you looked around, grounding yourself after that nightmare.
it wasn’t uncommon for you to have those kinds of dreams these days. actually, this was your sixth one in a row after having broken your streak previously as you didn’t dream at all that night. it was the same sequence, you watch as seulgi leaves you while the words ‘do you love me’ cloud your mind. everytime, you’re frozen and unable to move, and by the time you want to run after her, it’s too late.
you get up and sigh, throwing on a pair of gray sweats and a black hoodie, not caring about looking good. you comb out the tangles in your hair with your finger and call it a day, grabbing your car keys and phone as you knew where you were going to end up in a few minutes.
the trip there was a blur, but there you stood across from her.
specifically, her grave.
you stared at the words inscribed on the stone, but it looked like unreadable squiggly lines through the tears welling in your eyes. the flowers you laid the first day were beginning to wilt. they were her favorite kind of flowers, and they reminded you of her. they started off so beautiful, so pretty, and they still were. they were just as beautiful, but they were going to die soon. the only difference is that you didn’t know she would.
when the flower begins to wilt, you know it’s going to die without help. maybe those words she said were her way of wilting, her way of warning you of the unforeseeable fate of her life. the accident felt like it was yesterday, or it was haunting you so much that it began to feel that way
she played with your fingers as you distantly stared at the crossing light, the red hand telling you not to cross. seulgi felt as if you were on a whole ‘nother world as she looked into your eyes. people began crossing when the light changed to a little green man walking, but you were frozen in your thoughts. seulgi didn’t force you to move, but she felt your hand go limp in her own. she peered down as you let go and sighed.
you placed your hand into your jacket as she kept her eyes on the ground. she felt broken, but she found the courage in herself to ask a question she longed to know the answer to. “do you still love me?”
you finally locked your eyes with hers, the shimmer they originally held was dulling out. you saw the eyes of someone so near and dear to your heart without even knowing it would be the last.
you heard someone yell from behind seulgi, a little girl crossing while the light was the red hand. a white truck was barreling toward that small child at such an alarming rate that you don’t even know how seulgi managed to move that quick.
before you could shout for her, seulgi ran down the crossway and pushed that kid out of the way, the truck slamming into her side, braking soon after. you stood at the edge of the crosswalk in disbelief as people ran to her, surrounding the bloody scene. their voices were all muffled to your ears as you felt dizzy. you slowly walked to the crowd like your feet weighed 20 pounds each.
you pushed everyone away, some people confused. you dropped to your knees and you finally let yourself take in the scene that unfolded. her pretty sundress with yellow flowers was now red, and her expression looked so peaceful despite the blood running down her forehead. you grabbed the sides of her face as people yelled to call 911, but you felt like it was only you and her.
you felt the softness of her cheeks that you loved so much, and you smiled. you didn’t know when you started crying, but you realized after seeing the tears fall onto her face. you tried to wipe your tears with your clean hand, but you couldn’t stop them.
the tears flowed like waterfalls. you started to shake as your sobs got louder and louder, your chest feeling as if it were collapsing in on itself. you screamed at the top of your lungs as you felt no pulse under the hands that so desperately clung to the sides of her neck, supporting her limp head so it didn’t rest on the rough concrete.
‘do you still love me?’
you stared down at the yellow wilting flowers. “of course i still love you.” you could only pray that she heard you and her question was answered.

“do you love me?”
she was trying her best to hold in her tears, but her girlfriend's silence was enough to confirm her suspicions.
seulgi let out a bitter laugh.
“answer me, y/n!” she shouted, grabbing y/n by her collar and slamming her against the wall.
the latter let out a grunt at the impact between her and the wall.
seulgi glared at the taller girl through her tears and spoke though her clenched teeth.
“do you love me?”
y/n took a deep breath and stared into seulgi's teary eyes.
“no,” she swallowed hard. “i don't love you anymore.”
the tears in seulgi's eyes began to run down her cheeks, and her hold on y/n's collar tightened.
“since when?” she asked, her voice shaky and cold.
“seulgi—”
“dammit, y/n, just answer my question!”
y/n sighed.
“since the Christmas party.”
a muffled sob escaped seulgi's mouth. her tears were rapidly streaming down her face, and her face was turning red because of furious she was with y/n.
“w—” her voice cracked. “why?”
“did you cheat on me?”
y/n rolled her eyes, causing seulgi pull away and clench her jaw.
“i don't owe you an explanation,” y/n replied, her cold tone cutting through the thick tension in the air.
betrayal and anger were evident in seulgi's expression. “so you're just going to throw all we had out the window? you're going to walk away and not even tell me?”
“i answered truthfully when you asked if i loved you. i have nothing else to say.”
seulgi took a deep breath and clenched her fists.
“i trusted you.”
“you trusted me?” y/n let out a bitter laugh. “oh, please. you never trusted me when i told you that you were the only one i would ever love!”
both girls stayed silent, the unspoken words and broken emotions lingered heavily in the air. eventually, seulgi's shoulders slumped in defeat as she realized that this was the final straw in their relationship.
“fine,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “i hope she was worth it.”
y/n turned away from seulgi's hateful gaze, and began to head towards the front door. with each step she took, the echoes of their broken promises rang through the distance between them, a forever reminder of what they could've been.
Hi! I just found your blog and I’m looking forward to your works. Could I request a Seulgi angst fic; where you and Seulgi have been in a happy, loving, fulfilling, committed relationship for the past 3 years, but one day when she came back from practice with the girls you two got into a heated argument about how she’s always canceling dates with you because work related things come up that she “can’t miss” and she ends up bringing up something that you had confided in Her about awhile ago and uses it against you; to which she immediately regrets and tries to take back and can you take it from there? Thank you! I look forward to it:)
Missing you

Your gaze flew to the clock for the 30th time in a spam of five minutes, making you sigh in defeat. Seulgi had promised you she’d meet you at your favorite restaurant for dinner, as a way to make up to you for being so busy over the past weeks. Yet there you were, sitting alone with a glass of bitter wine for over two whole hours before you finally gave up and went home, realizing she wouldn’t come. Again.
Babe <3
Hey baby, rehearsals are going up until late since we still have so much to work on
I won’t make it to dinner. Sorry.
Next week, though? I’ll make it up to you. I promise.
I love you
You got into your apartment just as her message lit up your phone. You threw it over the sofa, preparing yourself a long bath to try to relax. You took a deep breath before entering the warm water, the bubbles and the silence easing your tensed muscles. You tried not to think about your girlfriend or your relationship, knowing it’d only make you even more upset, but your thoughts didn’t seem to let you rest.
You and Seulgi loved each other, you knew that much. You’ve never loved her any less in those three years you’ve been dating, but it pained you to see how much you’ve drifted apart lately. You felt like you were the only one trying to spend time with her, and it wasn’t like you weren’t busy yourself: being an intern in one of Seoul’s top hospitals while studying for residency was tiring and difficult, specially since you’ve always been a bit behind your colleagues, having to push yourself harder than the most to simply be at their level. Still, you always made sure to make some time for Seulgi. Why couldn’t she do the same? Were you not important to her?
Those thoughts made you sigh, your body immersed in the water until it went limp and the water grew cold. Part of you wished you could be somewhat more imposing: demand more from her, confront the woman over your issues, telling her how you felt. You couldn’t, though. You were too weak for that. Which was the reason you dragged yourself to bed, rolling over to set your alarm on your phone before allowing your body to be dragged by sleep.
It’s ok.
Next time, then
Gnight love
Seulgi’s reply came hours later, although you were fast asleep.
Sweet dreams, dearest.

To say you were having a bad day was a euphemism. Your preceptor had given you the biggest, shittiest lecture over nothing (so what if you couldn’t get the stupid procedure done at the very first try? He had no right to scream at you to get out of the OR like that, let alone yell at your face for over half an hour about how dumb and unprepared you were, compared to others. Preposterous piece of crap). You nearly fell down the stairs on your way to lunch and, to make it better, your umbrella broke, making you run all the way home after being dropped at the bus stop to try to get less soaked. It didn’t work, and you entered your place with chattering teeth and the feeling of the wind carved deep in your bones. Your body was trembling so much from the cold and the stress, you dropped your keys twice before you managed to open the door, finally sighing in relief.
That relief, however, ended just as you spotted your girlfriend’s silhouette leave your kitchen and enter your living room, smiling as if she hadn’t fucked up hard by leading you on for so long.
“Jesus baby, you’re soaked.” She frowned, giving you a peck on the lips. Your body went rigid at her touch, exhausted from everything, which made Seulgi confused. She was finally able to make some time and come see you, so why weren’t you happy?
You simply murmured something along the lines of hello and so nice to see you, before hurrying to your room to get rid of the wet clothes that clung to your body. You took the hottest shower of your life, trying to wash all the discomfort away, which didn’t work in the slightest.
You loved Seulgi so much it hurt, but the last thing you wanted for the day was to see her. You felt drained, your body ached, and you so desperately wanted to hide under your sheets and cry yourself to sleep. You didn’t want to talk about your day—about anything, specially not to her. It’d demand too much energy to explain what was going on with you over the past few weeks, since you never seemed to properly talk to each other, anymore. You had no energy for that.
And you’ve always sucked at communicating, anyway.
You forced yourself to leave your room, dragging your feet in tiredness, and found Seulgi setting up the table for two. You sat down, still silent, and watched as she put some Tteokbokki for herself.
“I’ve already eaten at the hospital.” You told her, returning her stare with a shrug. Seulgi sighed at your pettiness; perhaps you did get mad at her for canceling on you on the prior week, unlike you’d told her. And the week before that. And-
Ok. She might deserve a bit of your cold shoulder. But you simply had to understand her: she was working so hard with the girls to prepare for their comeback, and there were still many things to be adjusted. Their expected date was approaching, and you’ve always been so comprehensive. Sure, she knew you often masked your feelings or simply dismissed them to try to please others, but she’d asked you about it so many times. If something was making you uncomfortable, you’d sure tell her. Right?
“So,” She grunted, adjusting herself in the chair. “How was your day?”
“It was fine, thanks.”
“Okay.” Seulgi murmured, not touching her food either. She was beginning to get irritated at your distance now. Sure, she knew being a doctor was exhausting and time-consuming, but it wasn’t like she wasn’t having one hell of a week, either. Her fingers twitched under the table, and she no longer stood the awkward silence between you. Rolling her eyes, she added, “Are you just going to be a bitch all night? Because I got here straight from practice, I’m tired as fuck and the last thing I want is for you t—“
“What are you doing here, then, Seulgi?” You interrupted her, feeling the anger rise on yourself too. “Don’t you have rehearsals and recordings to be too busy with? Or should I just be so fucking grateful that my girlfriend decided to grace me with her company? Am I not paying enough attention to your liking?” You usually tried your best to not be rude to others, keeping your sarcastic thoughts to yourself, but your sudden anger flared up and forged a cloud over your mind, making it hard to see clearly through it. “Should we call the others, then? The girls you spend all fucking day with?”
Seulgi rose from the table, her face heating up at your words and suggestions. You played low at that, you both knew it, but now you’ve gotten her way too pissed to think about consequences.
“What the fuck, Yn? What’s gotten into you?” She screams, leaning forward so you two were face to face, “I know it was not ideal at all to skip our dinner.” Multiple ones, you both knew it, but neither pointed it out loud. “But you know I can’t miss work. Please understand.”
Seulgi was just so mad and frustrated. Her times with you were always stress-relieving to her, but lately all you’ve been doing is either argue about minor stuff or simply not talk at all. It was taking a toll on her when it shouldn’t, not with her comeback so close and her stress levels already escalating. It wasn’t good for you either, with your crazy work routines and weekly exams at the hospital. She knew that.
But you couldn’t seem to make it work.
“What’s gotten into me?” You stood up yourself, too, towering over her. Since you were always so sweet and patient, Seulgi would often forget how much taller you were— in fact, it was one of the things she first noticed when you first met; it had gotten her attention instantly. She hated it now, though— how small it made her feel. “What’s gotten into me is that it seems like I don’t even have a fucking girlfriend anymore! You ignore me all the time like I’m just some friend and not someone who matters! I don’t even know what you’re doing half of the time, with God knows who.” You threw your hands in the air, exasperated.
Her expression turned into a scowl, and she rolled her eyes, palms curling into fists to shake the urge of grabbing you by the shoulders and shaking your insecurities away. Seulgi hated when you implied such things. You were the love of her life, and she’d never, never cheat on you, no matter how distant you were. But you were (deeply) insecure, and she knew that. She was also so, so enraged and stressed.
“Jesus, why are you always so fucking dramatic?” she was quick to snap back, defensive. “Acting like I’m going to leave you for the first person I see in the stree…” Seulgi’s words died on her mouth, immediately realizing the power of her words, making both of you gasp. She tried to reach out to you, but you pushed your chair roughly to get away from her.
Your body went rigid, countless memories of you crying to her flagged your mind. You’ve confessed to her many times about how much it bothered you to not have her around as much. You missed her deeply, and even though you trusted her completely, your mind was always playing tricks on you — not only about her, but with everything: how you weren’t enough at University, always behind your friends in grades; not interesting enough to make long last friendships, as you often saw in big groups of friends; not pretty or talented enough for your girlfriend, who was constantly around so many amazing people. That’s just how your mind worked 24/7; constantly wondering.
And now, Seulgi made sure to tell you just how much she hasn't forgotten any of that. Any of the things that made you deeply insecure.
“Get out.” You told her, hugging yourself to hide the urge of running straight to her arms.
Seulgi took a step forward, but it only made you back away twice as much. “Baby, I’m so sorry… listen, I—“
“I said get out!” You screamed this time, the tears you were fighting so hard to contain rolling freely on your face.
All the sensations you were suppressing all week erupted, boiling over your surface as you brushed past the hallway to try to get to your room, to the bathroom, anywhere small were you could be confined and finally let it all go. You were straight up sobbing now, your body hot from moving roughly alongside your heavy breathing. You were so sick of everyhting. Work, your friends, her. Her words hurt, and all you wanted was to disappear. You didn’t quite feel your body as the tears clouded your eyes, and suddenly very light, delicate hands were lifting you up —you now realized you’d simply sunk in the middle of the hallway, hugging your knees as strong as you could— and guiding you to your bedroom. Seulgi helped you to get under the covers as she lay down beside you, careful to not overwhelm you even more. When the older woman saw you’d settled down a bit, she opened her arms, making you cling onto her immediately. You knew you shouldn’t, but it was so comforting, and you loved her so much… You’d allow yourself just that, only for a few moments.
“I-I don’t want to do this anymore.” you muttered against her neck, wetting her shirt with your tears. “I’m so tired, Seulgi. I can’t.”
You felt her tense before you for brief seconds before her soothing touches went on, kissing your forehead ever so gently— almost as if you were made of glass. You certainly felt like it, at the moment. Like you were a glass full of cracks, threatening to shatter.
“Shh, it’s ok.” She cooed, running her hands under your shirt to draw small circles on your bare back, as she knew it soothed you and made you sleep almost instantly. “You’re too tired right now. Sleep, ok? I’ll be here when you wake up, then we’ll talk.”
You didn’t like the idea of talking things out with Seulgi. It would be too tiring, and maybe, just maybe… you were postponing it for so long because you feared what the outcome would be.
You were too afraid to lose her. So you’d rather leave things as they were, no matter how broken and uncomfortable they might be.
Your eyes, however, were already closing on their own, the warmth of her body making it so easy to just give in and rest.
“Okay.” You whispered, hugging her closer. “Tomorrow.”
You fell into a sleep without dreams soon enough.
-
The first thing you noticed when you woke up was how messy the right side of the bed— Seulgi’s side was. You’d missed the wrinkled sheets and how it always looked like a hurricane had passed over your bed whenever she came over, from how much she moved in her sleep. It made you smile to yourself as you got up, bare feet on the ground, while you hesitantly looked around for her, too scared to call her name out loud and find her gone.
It wouldn’t be the first time she broke a promise, after all.
You’d forgotten how much all the little things with her made you happy.
“…Hello?” You asked— secretly relieved, at the sight of your girlfriend kneeling on the ground, little wrinkles adorning her face as she tried hard to shove too many clothes on your washing machine.
She looked up, startled by the sound of your voice, but quickly smiled. “Hi. Did you have a good sleep?” Seulgi sounded genuinely concerned, making you curse yourself silently for worrying her.
Are you ok? She wanted to ask you. Seeing you so distressed had gotten her so guilty and concerned. She hated to see you like this, and it killed her to know she was to blame. I care.
“Yeah, I did, thanks.” You shrugged it off, standing awkwardly at her sides. “You don’t have to do my laundry, you know.”
“Well, someone has to.” Seulgi scoffed, rolling her eyes as she finally managed to close the machine’s door, even if with a bit of an effort.
You opened your mouth, faking being offended while bringing your hands to your heart. “I was going to do it, okay? On…”
“Saturday.” You both finished, together. Saturdays were laundry day for you, though you rarely followed your schedule through. It made you smile, to know she remembered it, and you said nothing, trying to not break the nice moment you were having.
“So, do you want to have lunch? We can go out, if you’d like.” Seulgi suggested, her tone careful as she fidgeted the hem of her big sweatshirt.
You simply stared at her, confused. Lunch? Had you really slept for that long?
“You slept for 13 hours, babe.” She clarified, looking at your confused face, making you quickly check your phone to confim the truth: it was, indeed, nearly lunchtime.
You’ve never been so grateful to be on your day off as much as you did now, or else you would’ve sure missed your pre-rounds at the hospital.
“Oh, ok.” You answered, a bit ashamed for dozing out for so long. “Let’s have lunch, then.” You realized she must’ve been skipping work, too; which was why you added, frowning. “Don’t you have to be in the company? It’s ok if you do. I can wait until nigh—“
“Don’t worry about it.” Your girlfriend clarified, motioning for you to get ready. “Let’s just have lunch, ok?”
You took a deep breath, knowing what she meant; it was urgent for the two of you to sit, talk and solve things. Giving in, you followed her, changing from your pajamas and fixing your hair as she grabbed some of your clothes (that were too big on her, as always. she loved it.) to go out.
“Ok.”
-
You played with your hands, sitting in front of Seulgi at a local restaurant near your house as you waited for your food to come. The cozy atmosphere didn’t do much to easy your discomfort, and you tried hard to not bite your (already deeply bitten) nails off. Seulgi’s eyes were trained on you, making you feel as if hundreds of tiny needles were piercing your skin through her gaze. To your surprise, not once had she checked her phone, unlike all the times you’ve been together over the last few months. Instead, her sole attention was on you, like you dreamed of so many times in those last weeks.
Now, however, her current focus only makes you want to throw up, from the nerves of the situation.
“You haven’t been taking care of yourself.” She expressed, as a matter of fact. It was true, but her accusation made you defensive, eyes snapping to her as you took a deep breath.
You were tired of arguing, and this was one of your favorite places: you’d rather not cause a scene. “Seulgi.”
“Am I lying?” Your piercing gaze was enough for her to roll her eyes, hands up to show you she wasn’t looking for a fight either. “Ok, let’s not go there.” Her tone dropped an octave, “I just worry, ok? You seem to be having it pretty tough.”
She wasn’t pressuring you to say anything before the two of you actually discussed your issues— you knew it as much. It as just hard for you to express yourself, now even more to do so without crying. And you didn’t want to cry in front of her.
“This rotation has been tough, like I already knew it would be.” You told her, refusing to meet Seulgi’s eyes. “It’s ok, though. It’s nearly over, now. Things will get better, then.”
You’d talked about it before your rounds started, Seulgi remembered. Flashes of you, worried, flashed through her mind, with herself assuring you she’d be by your side to help you on each step of your journey.
The memory made her want to throw up, too.
“Look at me, baby.” You heard her say, yet you still refused to meet her eyes. Instead, you felt her hands holding yours, her touch firm. “Yn, look at me.”
You closed your eyes to prepare yourself for whatever was about to come, a few quiet moments amidst the storm of both of your minds. When you opened them, she was ready to welcome you. “I’m sorry, ok? I truly am so, so sorry for those last couple of weeks— hell, these couple of months. I’m such an idiot for leading you on like that and for not treating you like you deserve it. I love you, God, I fucking love you more than anything in this world, Yn, and I can’t stand the thought of losing you.” Her grip went tighter, but you didn’t care. You could only listen to her words. “I promise I’ll do better, to show you how much you matter to me. I’ll be here for you, just like you’ve always been, for me.” She murmured, taking your hands to your lips as she kissed them gently.
Little droplets of tears still threatened to fall from your eyes as your voice faltered, a bulge forming in your throat. You loved Seulgi and needed her like the air you breathed, and sure missed her every second of the day, when you weren’t together. But her distance had hurt you, deeply.
She was crying, too. You realized you’ve actually never seen her cry, in the 3 years you’ve been dating.
“Your distance really hurt.” You managed to voice it to her, between hiccups. “I-I felt like I was doing something wrong all the time.”
“You weren’t. You’d never, baby.” She reassured you, running her hands through your hair to get it out of your wet face. “It was my fault. You’re mine and I’m yours, ok? We’ll start over, and I’ll show you how much you matter to me. I won’t fuck up our relationship anymore.” She looked at you timidly, adding, “And I’m sorry for what I said yesterday, too. It was not my place to use something you confined at a moment like that. I was such a huge bitch.”
“It’s ok.” You muttered, though still hurt.
“No it’s not.” She exclaimed, serious. “It was horrible, and I’m deeply sorry for that. It’s not going to happen again. Ever.”
Instead of answering, you lunged forward, kissing her urgently— fuck the restaurant and etiquette. Seulgi kissed you with equal fervor, savoring your taste. God, she’d missed you so much.
“I love you.” You told her, smiling as you ended the kiss, leaning on the chair. She pouted, but opened a big smile as she saw yours. “And I don’t want us to end. We’ve been through so much. I want to be by your side, with anything that comes.”
“I love you more, Yn. We’ll be together, always. Nothing will fuck us up anymore. No rehearsals, recordings… nothing.” Her hands brushed your lips as she stared at your face, enamored, before adding. “Now tell me about everything I’ve missed. And I mean everything. Don’t save your words.”
You laughed at her, nodding as you quietly started from the beginning: you’ve told her every bit she missed, and Seulgi told everything about herself, too. You ate your food with content, exchanging every single moment with her until hours had passed, and you’ve decided to return home.
And as you walked in the park together, the windy breeze calmed your soul, and with your love by your side, you felt much, much better.
“Hands in the air where I can see them- and drop your weapons.”
A smirk creeped on my face as her voice rang through my ears- the familiar voice I was addicted to now. I did as I was told and dropped my dagger on the ground, the clattering of it ringing in the empty alley.
Empty except for me, my prey who had run away thanks to the police officer who was now twisting my hands behind my back, clipping handcuffs while I just smiled.
It was her. Again.
“You are under arrest for the attempted murder of an innocent civilian. You have the right to an attorney-”
“Oh please,” sarcasm dripped from my voice, “We’ve done this so many times, Seulgi. No need to repeat the same shit-”
“That’s Officer Kang to you,” she tightened her hold on my handcuffs, “Mind your manners.”
I scoffed, “You know, there’s another scenario that could be playing right now, with you handcuffing me- ouch!”
“Say things like this again and I’ll dig this gun deeper in your back- and maybe even shoot,” She growled in my ear, pushing me forward, making me walk to the police car. “Get inside.”
I huffed, obeying, pretending to look out of the car and watch the city fade by as we travelled to the police station, when in reality, my mind was occupied with two things, one of which was observing every step the police took and taking in everything- the escape routes, the protocols, etc.
The other… well. It concerned the very pretty officer sitting in the first seat-
“How many times are we going to do this?” Seulgi sighed, “We are one step away from getting your lawyer off your back, and then you won’t be able to walk free in the streets, ever.”
“That one step, honey, is gonna be one very long step and before you take that, I’ll have my backup ready.”
“Why are you even talking to this psycho?” The driver, a very annoying and fat man, scowled at me through the rear view mirror, “Don’t let this shit get through your head-”
“Don’t let me get through your head, mister.”
“Shut up,” Seulgi glared at the two of us, “My head is about to burst, I need silence.”
Unlike the other times when I would keep rambling nonsense and keep teasing Seulgi, this time, I kept quiet. Very, very quiet. And it was getting harder to hide the smirk from my face to see Seulgi squirming in the front seat, my gaze burning her, until she finally looked back at me, just a few minutes away from the station.
“You’re quiet today.”
I didn’t reply. Let it get to her. I only met eyes with her once, no sign of any emotion on my face and continued looking outside.
Let her think she had me this time. Let them think they have the upper hand.
As soon as we reached, I was escorted straight into my cell. The people here were familiar with me now- the maniac who never killed but almost did every time, the spoiled brat with connections so I was let out every time I attempted something. I was free.
And I was in control- I had everyone in the palm of my hand.
I knew Seulgi was watching me while she did whatever she was doing- wondering why no one was coming to my escape this time, wondering why I had rejected the offer of a phone call that I always took.
I felt victorious when, after a few hours, everyone had left-leaving me and Seulgi, who was packing her stuff to go home.
“Always working late, are you?”
With satisfaction, I watched Seulgi jerk at my voice- as she had almost forgotten I was still here. She confirmed my suspicion by saying it out loud.
“What are you really doing here?” Seulgi, finally having finished up, stood in front of my cell.
“You tell me, officer.”
Seulgi scoffed, “Officer? I’m seeing a lot of firsts from you today.”
I scoffed. “What are you doing, Seulgi? I thought you couldn’t stand the sight of me- as you’ve so often told me. What are you doing here, standing so close to me?”
The way her body jerked as if she hadn’t noticed me come closer and closer every second brought a grin to my face. She tried taking a step back, but I grabbed her wrist- making sure my grip was loose but not loose enough. My thumb caressed her wrist but I made no effort to bring her closer. But from the look on her face- her eyes wide and mouth parted open in surprise, she knew I could do so many things to her.
But I didn’t.
I let her go.
Seulgi glanced at her wrist, then back at me, her expressions soon changing into a glare. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“You tell me, Seulgi,” I sat back on the floor. “What do you think I’m doing?”
With that, Seulgi left and my body rumbled with laughter.
This was going to be fun.
-------------
I was released the very next morning. And it seemed my plan had worked perfectly.
It had become a game of hide-and-seek now; me, who always got caught just at the right time by Officer Kang. It was a wonder that no one had made the connection yet.
I smiled as I wore my black outfit, gloves and mask- tonight was going to be fun.
Seulgi, of course, had been as disturbed as always to see me get released and not being escorted to the prison despite my long list of attempted murders. I always told her she should blame the people of this country for not abiding by the law and catching criminals like me instead of blaming me.
And she, of course, did not understand that.
Just before I had stepped out of the police station after being released, I had caught Seulgi’s eye- a very intense glare. I raised an eyebrow, and she just muttered that she won’t let me get away.
“You wouldn’t have to, Seulgi. Next time, you don’t have to let me get away.”
With a wink, I left, leaving her eyes wide with confusion.
I tightened my gloves as I ran over the plan again. Truthfully, I hadn’t the whole plan etched in my mind- but I knew how to get where I wanted to.
It was going to be the same trick- just the game that would be different this time.
Right before midnight, I left, knives sticking out from my belt hidden by the long raincoat I wore, strolling through streets and alleys until I finally found my prey.
A group of three girls were bullying one girl. A smirk formed on my face as I watched them, not attempting to break the thing apart. I decided to follow one of the bullies- the one who looked like the leader.
But before that, I walked to the victim, looming over her beaten figure, not offering her help, just observing her.
“How long are you going to be weak?”
“Don’t rub it in my face,” she moaned in pain, “Who are you anyway? Another bully?”
I shook my head, bending down to face her, “Do you want me to get rid of your bullies?”
I didn’t miss the glint that passed her eyes before they furrowed in confusion, “What are you going to do?”
“You should call the police,” I got up, straightening my coat and putting a hand on one of my knives, making sure the girl saw it and her eyes went wide with horror, “Tell them the girl’s about to get murdered. Tell them where I will be. And if you scream, it won’t be her who’s getting murdered tonight. Just do as I said.”
The girl had to gulp twice and slap herself before she took out her phone and I winked at her before following the trail of my prey. The other two girls were saying goodbye, and my prey was walking all alone in an alley.
“Perfect,” I muttered, following her until I heard the familiar blare of police sirens, right when I ran at her and threw her to the ground.
“Hello, little bully,” I pointed the knife at her face, “Want me to carve that permanent smirk you so like to wear?”
She screamed and I hit her temple with the hilt of my knife, “Shut up, bitch. This is what you get for being a scum.”
“I-I won’t do it again, I pro-promise. I’m sorry!”
I threw my head back as I laughed, dragging the knife down her arm, making blood spill, the girl struggling to move but failing because of how I had her trapped with my body on top of her. “How does this feel, sweetheart?”
I took my sweet time tormenting her, leaving little scars here and there until I heard the footsteps draw closer, which was when I raised my knife in the air-
“Hands in the air!”
I smirked, but pretended to sag with disappointment as I turned around, grinning as I saw Seulgi pointing her gun at me, and I dropped my weapon.
This was the last time I was dropping my weapon. The last time I was going to be submissive.
“There you go,” I shrugged, and Seulgi came to handcuff me, and as soon as she had cuffed my left hand, I grabbed her hands from my right hand and brought her closer, making her bump into me as she tried to wriggle away, horrified.
“Alone tonight, are you?” I scoffed, “Fell right into my trap, Seulgi.”
“What trap?” Seulgi scowled, glaring at me. I grabbed both her wrists by my cuffed hand while my free hand ran over her uniformed body.
“You ever wonder why I never actually murdered anyone?”
Seulgi raised a brow, “Because you don’t have the guts?”
I gave her a pointed look, “Nice of a police officer to provoke a potential murderer. No, Seulgi. It’s to mess with that little, stupid head of yours. Look at you, so distracted. Do you like me holding you like this?”
Seulgi turned her face away as I laughed in her hair, my face travelling down until I was breathing in her neck. I brought my mouth to her ear to whisper:
“I don’t see you struggling, sweetheart.”
She pushed me away, and I shook my head in warning, revealing her hand cuffed with mine, twirling the key to the handcuffs in my finger, proving just how distracted she had been to not notice me fishing out the key from her pocket.
“I swear to god, if you don’t give it back this instance-”
“Chill!” I un-cuffed her and put the key back in her pocket, “I was just messing with you.”
“You are under arrest for attempted murder, bla bla, you know the drill now, don’t you?” Seulgi, finally calming down after having taken a deep breath, dragged me to the car as she said the usual words, making me sit in the backseat.
It was time to play with her.
As we drove in silence, I scooted in the middle, staring holes into her. Seulgi tried her best to ignore me as she drove.
“I wonder why everyone was so busy tonight,” I pretended to play innocent, “It’s not like they had new evidence on a cold case, right?”
Seulgi almost hit the brakes as realization settled in. “What are you playing at?”
“You have two choices, Seulgi. You know I planned this. You can let me go and this game we’re playing will end right here. Or… you can take me to the station and you’ll become a player in my game- you’re already halfway in, by the way.”
“What. Game. Are. You. Playing. At?”
Seulgi was seething- something that made me grin. “Hide-and-seek, Seulgi. I know how you love to play that with me.”
Seulgi was breathing deeply now, as she tried to concentrate on her driving. The two minutes to the station while she made her decision had to be the longest two minutes of her life. She stopped the car in the parking lot, both her hands still on the steering wheel as she racked her brain, trying to come to a decision.
“We don’t have all night, Seulgi.”
“I can’t let you go.”
I raised my brow, a grin creeping on my face, making her roll her eyes. “I mean, I can’t let you roam around the streets and let you kill someone, as much as I would love to let you go and never see you again. So, you’re coming with me.”
“You are so gonna regret this before you start to love this.”
“I don’t know what’s going on in your head,” Seulgi got out of the car, opening the door and grabbing me by my arm harshly. “But this is over for you now. Whatever game you think you are playing, it’s not gonna work-”
I stiffened, turning harshly and putting my cuffed arms around her neck so that Seulgi was trapped between me and the car, smirking as I stared down at her, her eyes wide. I let her feel the adrenaline I knew she was feeling as I pressed my knee on her thigh, making her breath hitch.
I scanned her face slowly, making sure she noticed, before saying:
“It’s already working.”
She didn’t take her eyes off me for the few moments before we were interrupted by one of the officers threatening to shoot me if I tried something. I sighed, letting Seulgi go, waving my cuffed hands at the officer, satisfied when I saw her trying to get herself together.
“There’s only two reasons you’d look the way you’re looking right now, sweetheart. A dishevelled, flustered mess. One of them is that you’re scared of me- which I know you’re not. So… you know what it is now.”
“Don’t think for a second that I could ever feel that way about you-”
“What way, exactly, are you talking about?” I raised my brow, feigning innocence.
Seulgi, defeated, sighed before grabbing my arm harshly and taking out her gun, digging it into my back, earning a groan from me. “You’re shit.”
“Can’t say I’m not,” I let her drag me to the cell, watching her the entire time she was in my vision, pleased to see her squirming due to my burning gaze. I waited until everyone was gone or sleeping before starting to whistle.
“Can you keep it down?” Seulgi slammed her file on the table, and I turned to raise a brow at her.
“Make me.”
Seulgi only rolled her eyes, and I continued to whistle the same tune over and over until I saw Seulgi freeze from the corner of my eye.
“Made the connection yet?”
Her mouth was parted open in surprise as she racked her brain for where she had heard this specific tune-
“You followed me?”
“Did I now?”
Seulgi slammed a hand on the desk, rushing to my cell, gripping the bars, “How long have you been following me?”
I got up, treading towards her, licking my lips as I scanned her tense figure. “How long do you think?”
“Can you, for once, answer my question without a question?”
“I can, if you come inside.”
Seulgi bit her lip, thinking of whether she should be stupid and enter or be wise and just let me be. I smiled internally in satisfaction- her eyes betrayed her, always.
“I guess you’re not coming inside. Go away if you’re not.”
I turned to sit, but stopped when I heard the keys clinging, and I couldn’t stop myself from smiling this time. She had taken the bait. Entering, she shut the door, putting her hands on her hips.
“Spill.”
“Where do you think you heard it?”
“I don’t think there’s one specific place…”
“Correct. Do you remember when we first met?”
Seulgi scoffed, “I don’t think I can forget the first time I handcuffed you- you were an animal-”
“Uh, let’s skip that part. Sure, I might have been a tad bit… aggressive. But Officer, that wasn’t the first time we met.”
Seulgi felt like a bucket of cold water had dropped on her. She stumbled a step back in realization, “It can’t be…”
“Oh, but it is, Officer.”
Seulgi was having a rough day- she had a very messy blind date, she wasn’t doing well with the murder case her squad was handling, and she just needed a break.
She sat on the bench in the very empty park, looking up at the dark sky. Even the moon was hidden. She sighed, wondering how she would ever muster up the strength to go back home.
Her attention was caught by a faint whistling tune. She turned her head to look around but there was no one there. She busied herself scrolling mindlessly through her phone when she heard footsteps, ignoring what sounded like a person jogging until the said person stopped in front of her, panting for breath.
“Can I sit here? I don’t have the strength to jog to the next bench.”
Seulgi eyed the person standing in front of her, shrugging as she nodded, and watched as the person took a long drink of water before smiling at her.
“Why jog at this time of the night? It’s not really safe out here these days.”
“I could ask you the same question.”
“I’m a police officer, actually.”
“Then I’m safe, Officer.”
Seulgi shook her head, bringing herself back to her senses. “But you… You’re not…”
“Do you remember that time, Seulgi? You and me, sitting on the bench all night while you let your guard down and talked about how you had such a bad day…” I creeped forward, Seulgi frozen in her spot, “I’m surprised you didn’t recognize me earlier. My disguise isn’t that perfect.”
If Seulgi was being honest with herself, she would have admitted that she had been reminded of the person she’d met that night once or maybe twice. But she had pushed it off as it just being a resemblance.
Because there was no way this was happening, right?
“I know you want me, Seulgi. Do you remember that time I was injured and you tended to my wounds like a good little girl?”
The both of us immediately went down memory lane-
“Are you stupid? Why would you risk your life apart from the victim’s?”
“Don’t tell me you care about my life, Officer.”
“I’m just extremely annoyed right now because there is no one in the station except you and me. Why do I have to be your nurse?”
“Oh come on. I’ll go to the hospital when I’m let out tomorrow- you know I will. I just need you to do something about this quick-” I pointed at the gash that ran down my arm, from near the elbow all the way down to the wrist. Seulgi rolled her eyes, searching for the first aid kit and then putting it outside the cell first, taking out the key to the handcuffs and entering, cuffing my unhurt arm with the bar.
Bringing a stool in front of me, she gripped my arm, turning it around to examine the bleeding scar, pretending my gaze wasn’t burning her. She glared at me once before cleaning the wound while I just watched her gentle movements.
“Why are you so kind, Seulgi?”
“What do you mean?”
“You shouldn’t be doing this. I’m a… criminal. But you always make sure I have water, or food- if I insist. And you… care about people even when they’re like me. Why?”
“It’s my job-”
“No, this- this isn’t your job,” I sighed. I wasn’t particularly feeling high and ‘manic’ like my other days. Tonight wasn’t planned. It was just an unfortunate incident where I got caught and Seulgi being like this… wasn’t helping.
Seulgi put the cotton down and locked eyes with me. “You’re all humans. I cannot leave anyone like this.”
I just stared at her, my gaze going down to her parted lips. She noticed, clearing her throat and continuing to clean the wound.
“Do you ever think about leaving this job, just escaping from everything else and starting new?”
“Do you?” Seulgi started applying an ointment on my wound.
“We all do, don’t we?” I sighed, “If I had the chance… I’d leave, Seulgi. I’d leave this life behind, go to an island… or maybe the mountains. It would be just me and my cats-”
“Cats?” Seulgi laughed a little, and I smiled, despite myself.
“Yes, Seulgi, cats. I don’t always go around bloodthirsty, you know. I have a life too.”
“Right.”
“Anyways, I’d bake cookies. The house would be small, and there would be books, and I’d sit by the fireplace. Sounds good, doesn’t it?”
“It does, actually,” she nodded, and I noticed she was done, but still had my arm in her hand, staring at the wound.
“It’d obviously be better if I had human company too…”
“So you could kill them later?” Seulgi finally looked up at me.
“I’d never do that to you.”
For a second, Seulgi was surprised- and so was I, because I had obviously been thinking of her when I said that. Seulgi shook her head, tucking her hair behind as she started packing the first aid kit, about to leave when I gripped her hand.
“Can you… stay with me- for a few minutes? I… tonight wasn’t something I was expecting.”
Seulgi wasn’t sure what I was referring to, but she put her kit down. “You sound vulnerable. For once.”
“I am,” I admitted, slumping back, “I am so vulnerable right now that you can do whatever you please with me. Kill me, kiss me, I won’t care.”
“There is no killing or kissing happening,” Seulgi shook her head, but I smiled when I saw a ghost of a smile on her face too, “As much as I would like…”
“Kissing me?”
“Killing you,” Seulgi smiled sarcastically, “I’d have to hold my temptations.”
“And if I can’t hold mine?” I leaned forward, taking her hand in my free hand, bringing her closer, “if I can’t resist?”
“Killing me?” Seulgi asked.
“Does it look like I’m about to kill you?” I asked, my eyes scanning her face, the two of us so close we could feel each other’s breath on our skin.
Seulgi made no move to scoot away- as if mesmerized, she sat still, only her eyes roaming around my face, as if trying to read what I was thinking.
“You can go, if you want to,” I whispered, my hand caressing her arm and then moving up her chest, all the way to her neck, until it went to cup her face, and Seulgi couldn’t calm the roiling in her stomach.
How could someone as savage as the person in front of her have such a fragile touch? Hold her like she could break?
She forgot what I had just said, her breath quickening every second as I drew closer and closer, until our foreheads were joined. But I heard the sound of the keys dangling. We had company.
I drew back, scanning her face once before kissing her forehead, good and slow. “We have company. Go.”
Seulgi sat frozen in her spot- until I tapped her face lightly. “Go.”
She stumbled as she took the kit and left, forgetting to cuff me back. I just slumped back, watching her, smiling at how the night had turned out.
“So,” I smirked at how Seulgi was clenching her head now, as she made all the connections.
“Are you… doing this all on purpose? How long have you planned this?”
“Would you believe me if I told you it wasn’t on purpose? That our first meeting- as normal people, and as a police and a criminal were both coincidental?”
“I don’t think I can…”
“Come on,” I turned around, pretending to walk in the cell when I was actually un-cuffing myself from the key I had replaced in Seulgi’s pocket. “I’m a criminal, maybe, yes, but I’m not a liar.”
“I wouldn’t put that past you,” Seulgi countered, “You’ve been stalking me. Am I one of your next ‘victims’? Is this what all of this is about?”
I turned, smiling, approaching her until we were face to face. “Look at me, Seulgi. Look me in the eyes and tell me if I’m lying.”
While she took the bait and looked me in the eyes, I took the cuffs off one hand, took her gun out of her pocket in the blink of an eye and before she could react, I threw it outside the cell from the slightly open door, her neck whipping as she saw just what I had done, and I gripped both her wrists.
“Got you.”
In a second, I cuffed her right hand with my left and threw the key outside too.
“Are you out of your mind!” Seulgi slapped my face- or at least tried to- she was interrupted with me dragging her across and shutting the cell, the keys outside dropping to the floor.
“Oh my god,” Seulgi, horrified, slammed her fist in my chest repeatedly, “What have you done!”
“I told you to let me go, didn’t I?” I growled in her ear, and she went still, her fist still on my chest as she sighed in frustration. “You did this, Seulgi.”
I put her dark hair behind her shoulder, running my fingers across her jaw as I whispered, “It’s just you and me tonight here, baby. I made sure of that. No one will know what happened, not even the cameras- it would be over before the morning. So relax… and let go.”
Seulgi was helpless- she couldn’t do anything now- and ashamed. She had been too distracted. She had played right into this trap.
“Relax,” I whispered, bringing my lips to her ears, trailing it down her jaw as I tilted her face up, “I know you want this.
“Why are you doing this to me?” She almost whispered, “Why me?”
“You had me, Seulgi. Right from the very beginning. There’s just something about you that I couldn’t resist. I’m all yours- do whatever you want with me.”
Seulgi bit her lip, trying to hold herself together, but every move I was making was affecting her, shaking her from the inside out. Her legs were growing weaker, and she wasn’t sure if it was from the situation she had just caught herself in- or something else entirely.
“You have no idea how much I’ve been wanting to do this.”
I held her chin in my hand as I kissed her right cheekbone, then her left, locking eyes with her- but she wasn’t looking at me anymore.
“Don’t look away from me, Seulgi. There’s nothing wrong with what you feel right now… we’re all… humans, aren’t we?”
Seulgi scoffed at me quoting her but changing the context entirely. I nudged her face up and she finally looked at me, her eyes glazed.
“This is wrong-“
“There’s nothing wrong with this,” I assured her, “Obviously would have been better if we were in different circumstances, but Seulgi- there’s nothing wrong with this.”
It was like she was compelled- she shut her eyes, unable to hold the eye contact any longer. I smiled as I rubbed my nose with her, her sighs fuelling me.
“Tell me you want this. Tell me you do.”
I planted butterfly kisses on her face, stopping before I reached her lips.
“I’m going to ask you one last time. Tell me you don’t want this, and I’ll let you go right now. Tell me you want this-”
My breath hitched when I felt her fisting my shirt, her other hand that was cuffed to mine intertwining, her nails digging into my skin.
“Don’t make me say it out loud,” she whispered, despite herself.
She should be fired from her job. She was going to be so ashamed after this- but she couldn’t stop. She brought me closer and I cupped her face as I brought her lips to mine.
It was indescribable- the feeling of finally having someone- this forbidden something we had- but it was like a drug, and she felt it too as she kissed me back with a need I didn’t know she had in her. Her hand went to cup my face as well, my breath hitching this time as she kissed me, harshly, as if she was punishing me through this.
“Slow down,” I broke apart, smirking.
“Slow down?” Seulgi mocked, “This is what you wanted, isn’t it?”
My brows furrowed in confusion, but when she pecked my lips lightly this time, I relaxed.
“I shouldn’t be doing this, should I?”
“Let’s not think about that,” I kissed her, slow this time, taking in the marvelling feeling of how our lips fit as if made for each other, our stomachs roiling as our free hands roamed around, until she bit my lip and I took that as a sign to put my tongue in her mouth, our kisses growing quicker and more passionate as we made out.
Seulgi pushed me back and back until I hit the wall, and I growled into her mouth- it was time to show her who really was in control. I turned and slammed her body into the wall, my knee going in between her legs making her breath hitch harshly as she stared at me, eyes full with lust.
“Look at you,” I caressed her jaw with my thumb, “Look at how much you want this.”
For maybe an hour it was just us making out, whispering dirty little things in each other’s ears, me telling her that this was okay, that us made sense, that we should just forget about being a cop and a criminal while we were at it.
“Seulgi,” I sighed into her ear while she was playing with my neck, “Do you want to run away with me?”
Seulgi paused, burying her face in the crook of my neck and I hugged her this time, somehow the hug hitting me harder than the passionate make-out we just had. “We could have that life, Seulgi. Your dream life- whatever you want, wherever you want. Just say the word.”
“What about work, and my friends-”
“It’s your choice, Seulgi. I won’t force you into this. I know you have a life here- however… boring it may be. We’ll have to stay low-profile for a good while and then, if you want, we can let your friends- only the close ones- know. They won’t recognize me anyway so it shouldn’t be a problem.”
Our cuffed hands were caressing each other as she thought, and I just melted into the hug because if she disagreed… it would be our last time being this close to each other.
“If I don’t agree?”
I sighed, kissing her head, “I’ll leave. Forever. I can’t have a forced relation- not with you.”
“you’re joking,” seulgi murmured, her eyes filled with tears. your hand gripped onto your bag tightly, a sad smile on your face.
“i’d say it’s only four years, but i felt like i was dying inside every time you told me you had to stay at the company late,” you mumbled in response, leaning forward and pressing a soft kiss onto your girlfriend’s lip. “long distance is hard, but i’m sure we can make it work.” seulgi sniffled as she listened to your words before pulling you into another kiss, this one tasting salty and full of sorrow.
“four years is too long.”
“i know. i’ll come home for breaks and all that stuff, okay? this is my chance to actually make my dreams come true.” seulgi rubbed away a tear, nodding slowly.
“i know,” she replied, training her eyes on the ground. “call me once you land.”
“you’re not gonna wish me off?” you asked light heartedly, caressing the girl’s cheek gently.
“i can’t. it’ll hurt more than just saying goodbye this way.”
can i request a seulgi faerie one or like nymph of some sort, and #10 & #26 :DD
Hi, anon! Thank you for requesting and I hope you'll enjoy it! I feel like I took a different approach to the creature I chose, faerie, so I hope it'll be interesting to read!
The list.
#10. "Please tell me what I just saw was a dream-" & #26. "And I thought I was the crazy one!"
This is why you hated going hiking. It was never your thing, but you loved your best friend too much, so you tagged along. But you've never regretted your blunt decisions this much before. Maybe because before you didn't get lost in a damn forest where there was no reception and each tree and bush looked the same. You hated it, you were trembling and running around aimlessly, calling out for your best friend. You don't even know how you got lost, you swear one second your best friend was in front of you and the next second she just wasn't. You didn't understand. Your hyperventilating only got worse when you felt a dozen of eyes on you, yet you couldn't pinpoint anything that could've been looking. In your frantic search for your best friend, you found yourself in a clearing covered in entirety in red and orange colored flowers. The sun shone down strongly and you could feel sweat gather on your forehead. Suddenly, despite still feeling panicked, you tried to regain calmness and think logically. After all, it was only noon, so you had time to find your way out of this cursed forest. Suddenly, you yelped, as something unexpectedly hot touched your palm. You looked down but whatever you saw looked like a tiny speck of dust. Suddenly, a light, but really warm breeze, picked up and you sighed as you tried to keep your hair out of your face. It was getting in your eyes and now you regretted not accepting the scrunchie your best friend offered at the beginning of the hike. Finally able to see, you looked ahead and your eyebrows furrowed. A woman, slightly taller than you, was standing with her back facing you a little ahead in the field. Her hair was long and ginger-colored and you couldn't imagine wearing a black dress in such heat. Her hands were touching the flowers and you noticed she had slender fingers and pale skin. You felt in a trance when you took off towards her, not able to realize why you were suddenly walking, you just knew you had to approach her.
"Hello?" You said once you mustered up some courage, coming to a stop a few steps behind her. The woman's shoulders suddenly tensed and she whipped around quickly. Your first reaction was to scream, but all you could do was stare at her dumbfounded. You had never seen such a thing in your life before. Now you understood why you hated forests, even if the creature in front of you was gorgeous. Her pale skin had cracks in them and a strong red light seemed to shine through them, it looked unusual, but not scary. Her beauty was unmatched and your eyes lingered on her blood-red lips. The bangs of her long, ginger hair framed her face nicely and you realized she didn't look nearly as intimidating as you thought. You're glad you didn't scream. She extended one hand towards you and you became confused, but very reluctantly accepted it.
"Seulgi." Her voice was warm and entrancing, rendering you speechless for a few seconds. You must be dreaming, there's no other way to explain this. Maybe you passed out on the dirty floor of the forest somewhere.
"I'm-Y/N?!" It was more of a question as you still couldn't decide what was happening. But suddenly, you realized your palm started burning, so you were quick to pull it out of Seulgi's hold, you assumed that was her name since she said so. You shook your palm and inspected it closely, realizing it turned red. You were also feeling hotter, so you started fanning yourself. Seulgi's lips pulled in a mischievous smile as she watched you.
"What brings you to my clearing?" She asked curiously and you gulped as you looked around, seriously regretting not taking that scrunchie.
"Uhm, I got lost." You answered shortly, feeling slightly uncomfortable, but convincing yourself this was just a dream.
"Many humans do that here, Y/N," Seulgi giggled, stepping closer as she widened her eyes at you, "You're lucky you found myclearing."
"Why-why, what would've happened if-if I didn't?" You felt your heart beat faster as Seulgi stepped uncomfortably close and started playing with your hair. You couldn't move away, you were frozen, entranced by her actions, but also fear of what would now happen to you. And as she stood so close, you realized she was the one radiating all that heat, she was the one who burned your palm. The crack, with the red light shining through, from up close looked like lava as they moved underneath her skin, almost like what veins looked like at humans.
"Not all faeries are as nice as me." Seulgi finally answered your question with a giggle, stepping away from you, letting you breathe once again. But your mind was reeling as you looked at her confused, unable to take her words seriously.
"Faeries? They aren't real." You managed to mutter, looking away from Seulgi when her warm honey-colored eyes suddenly turned red. You're sure that shouldn't have happened, but you had a great fantasy when you were sleeping. You were still trying to convince yourself that this was just a dream.
"Really?" Seulgi's voice got dangerously low and you could feel yourself tremble again as you looked at her, mouth falling open. There were flames around her and on her. She was burning, but it didn't look like it hurt. The red lava coursing through her skin was blinding you and you had to close your eyes and cover back from the painful heat, feeling like you were burning yourself. You had no idea what to believe anymore. Was this seriously a dream? This weird? That's why you found yourself mumbling, "Please tell me what I just saw was a dream-"
But Seulgi's high-pitched laughter told you otherwise and you started trembling more, slowly opening your eyes when the unbearable heat was gone. She was grinning at you wickedly, a glint of amusement in her eyes as she enjoyed your reaction. It's been a long time since a human wandered to her clearing as it was very deep inside the forest, it would be hard getting out of it now, but she didn't mind. She liked some company from time to time and she found you likable enough to keep you around. You noticed the sudden change in her expression and you felt your heart dropping, uncertain if this creature, faerie as she called herself, was good or evil.
"This isn't a dream, Y/N, and I have a-," Your gut told you to interrupt her. Something inside you told you that once she offered you a deal you'd be stuck there with her forever and you couldn't afford that. You had to leave, now.
"You are truly lovely, Seulgi, gorgeous like nothing I've seen before! But my friend is worried by now and I have to find her!" You started walking backward, trying to not fall, as you were afraid to turn your back to the faerie.
"You're leaving me?" Seulgi's voice dropped again and you gulped as you wordlessly nodded at her, suddenly feeling a hot breeze pick up again. So, that was her too. Making eye contact, with the now red eyes of Seulgi, you thought no more as you turned and ran as fast as you could as your life seriously depended on that now. You could hear screams following you, angry and distorted, as you were back between the trees and running on scrunching leaves. Scared and feeling even more lost, you pushed yourself to run faster, that hot breeze still trailing you and catching up. But the roots of the tall trees were tricky and you collapsed, crying out loudly when sharp pain surged through your left ankle. You were sweaty, on the verge of having a breakdown when you heard your best friend's voice.
"Jesus Christ, Y/N?!" She sounded just as panicked as you felt, but for different reasons, "Where the hell did you go?!"
"I-I don't know! You were in front of me one second and the next I couldn't see you!" You were yelling, from the stress and panic you were feeling, as your best friend kneeled next to you, "And then I found this clearing and-and-a faerie tried to-charm me or kill me, I have no idea!"
Your best friend gave you a confused look as she inspected your ankle, being a trained nurse, feeling around it carefully as you suddenly hissed. You didn't realize how crazy you sounded in your panicked state. She sighed and looked at you with a tired expression, "You're lucky we're at the edge of the forest because you can't put pressure on that ankle."
"Thank God!" Your cry was relieved and you were up on your feet quickly, "We need to get out before the faerie finds us!"
Your best friend's eyebrows furrowed as she offered to help you walk, looking at you like you were crazy, "Did you hit your head when you fell-"
"I'm serious!" You exclaimed, feeling still panicky, "There's a fire faerie in here and I almost died at her hands!"
Your best friend just shook her head as you started walking, muttering to herself, "And I thought I was the crazy one."
