The End of World Tour Mode…a rant

Ingrid is the final character to be implemented into World Tour mode. All DLC characters afterward will be going into Avatar Arcade mode. Stories with loose ends like Falke’s whereabouts, JP’s plans for Ed and Bison, and Vega & Balrog’s interest in going back to Shadaloo won’t be fully fleshed out anymore.

Looking retrospectively, Capcom shouldn’t have put too much resources on SNK guest characters in WT mode. Also a lot of the side missions after the Bison update or starting with Elena were kind of about…nothing? Like it’s good for world building like having a device to talk to animals, but it leads to no where when it comes to story. Like a lot of the side missions is just either fighting NPCs or finding stuff, but nothing pertains to the imminent Shadaloo lore. Thinking about it, a lot of the One Fateful Days had very little influence to the main WT plot. Terry and Mai, all about Fatal Fury. Elena, nothing on Secret Society nor Shadaloo. Sagat, hates Shadaloo and wants nothing to do with it. C. Viper, looking into Shadaloo, but rather focus on her daughter, so nothing substantial comes out of it. Alex…lmao. Only Ingrid has something to do with the main WTM, but she’s there to change the course of it.

Sure, probably all of the Shadaloo story ended because of time travel. JP being hospitalized before the Nayshall tournament and Ingrid put Bison in his place.

But the point of the time travel is to save Bosch; I don’t know if JP is still going to do shady business in trying to get Ed and Bison together to do some sort of unknown plan after he recovers. That plan was stated by one of FANG’s underlings. That being said, what about FANG’s plan to revive Shadaloo? Surely that’s not gonna stop him because he’s working against JP and he thinks Bison is “imperfect” in his partial amnesiac state.

Now that WT is over, Vega who is most likely coming back for S4 and may be interested in going back to Shadaloo won’t be able to flesh out the WT story anymore. Then again, maybe because of the time travel stuff, Vega’s story might focus on his relationship with Ignacio in his arcade mode…?? I don’t know.

My copium is that when you fight your new master in Avatar Arcade Mode, they’ll at least provide 2 cinematic scenes for said character in their stage or somewhere and add some illustrations for their memories. Like, they could totally do that without putting an entire world tour mode with pointless missions, and just go straight to the meat of it instead. Thats just my thought though.

I’m still amazed that a lot of people still love this mod I made.

The idea of this came from fanart of Juri and other characters wearing A.K.I. Outfit 3. Most would think “this outfit looks stylish, and it would look cool on other characters.” Yes, it is a stylish outfit and it would look cool on others…I’ll agree on that. For me as someone who loves F.A.N.G, admittedly I have strange feelings seeing such works. My reactions would automatically go, "I wonder if they know the deeper meaning behind this fashion statement?" Knowing the intent of this costume written by the designer, it is an obvious F.A.N.G tribute because of how much A.K.I. loves him. The outfit represents a deep love and respect towards FANG. It is a way to feel worthy to stand next to him and to be closer to him.

There were ideas and talks about putting AKI’s Outfit 3 onto other characters as a mod. I had my own thoughts about making it myself. But again, I had mixed feelings because I believe the only person in Street Fighter lore that can wear this outfit is AKI because she loves FANG. If other characters knew the meaning behind this outfit, they would not wear this at all unless they’re somehow forced to do so.

Many months later, I decided to make it. And I had to be the first one to make it. I thought to myself if another modder were to make a character wearing AKI’s Outfit 3, the meaning and intent would be loss. They would not mention about the love for FANG because most often they would not know about the lore behind it, or they would ignore it because they don’t like FANG 🙄. To me, this mod has to be made by someone who understands this costume, even if it contradicts to the actual meaning. If I make this mod, I can tell the world what AKI’s Outfit 3 really means.

Also, I like the idea that the love of FANG spreads to anyone who wears this costume. AKI’s outfit 3 is already stylish, but reading about the designer’s comment about honoring FANG made it a million times better 💜💜

It’s been almost 2 weeks and people are still upset about the Alex situation…and the writers at Capcom didn’t really make things any better after their apology. As for me, I didn’t like Alex’s SF6 story direction because I much prefer him and Patricia being step brother and sister. But I’ll be honest that the story stuff didn’t affect me like it did to others because I was never invested in Alex as a character. I liked him, but it was because he’s a SF3 representative and that’s about it. Considering that he was a beloved character for almost 30 years and that he gained a lot of fans in the coming days before his official release, I knew his fans are going through a lot of turmoil.

With this fiasco, I have been thinking about my time as a F.A.N.G fan. To be honest, if something like the Alex story ever happens to F.A.N.G and A.K.I. , I would be devastated. In fact, I would HATE it. Thankfully, it didn’t go into that route. Yes, the FANG and AKI relationship is pretty weird (even though I love it) and I even dubbed it as the most bizarre dynamic in Street Fighter (now they’ve been dethroned by Alex and Patricia), but it was at least carefully written. In short, it’s all one-sided from AKI’s point of view where she has a lot of strong feelings towards FANG (like myself), while FANG sets boundaries between himself and her. FANG sees AKI as a student and a child. Also the fact that FANG has no libido means he’s not going to do anything creepy towards AKI, nor anyone for that matter. It may seem like a tragedy for FANG having no capacity for romance, but at the same time it may be a saving grace for him in that Capcom can’t ruin his character in the same way they’ve done to Alex. FANG is evil, but he is also “pure” in that regard.

I would say more about FANG and AKI’s dynamic, but it’s a lot.

Going back to Alex. Because of his story in SF6, he’s now in the midst of negative feedback and reactions. I’ve seen posts like “cousin f——-,” “Alex is a gr00m3r,” and other unsavory things. For the people who aren’t Alex fans, this is all fun and games to them. For those who are Alex fans, it’s pure pain and agony. They want the Alex “slander” to stop. In some ways I can relate to this. Before the whole Alex hullabaloo, I have been feeling down as a FANG fan for quite a while. Every time I search for FANG content online, I’d often run to some sort of negative comment or slander about my fave. It’s usually “FANG sux,” “AKI is way better,” “FANG got replaced and will never be playable again,” “AKI should leave and forget about FANG.” I’d often think to myself that it’s hard being a FANG fan in recent times, especially that he’s not playable in the current game and has yet to make a real comeback. I’d also think that FANG deserves a better fandom that embraces his qualities instead of bashing them. Thus, I somewhat stopped looking for FANG content online and just solely visiting Atgrbread, Milach3a, Testasase, Otsuyu, and other FANG appreciators’ accounts because I know I won’t see malicious content from them. People would tell me there’s better characters than FANG. Although that is true, there’s no other Street Fighter character that makes me as satisfied as with FANG.

Now with the Alex mess, I think Alex fans now feel the way I have felt with FANG (or more likely the fan reactions towards my fave)…except the magnitude and scale is much more intense for Alex. The reactions are a lot more explosive, angrier, sadder, and the mockery cuts much deeper. Being an Alex fan “probably” hurts more than being a FANG fan these days. I don’t know if I should feel relieved by that or not. But I do wish for the best for those who love Alex.

Since seeing the concept art for A.K.I. back in late June, I noticed her “eye shadow” on her swimsuit Outfit 4 was different from her default. They’re basically dark circles instead of makeup. I figured because it was due to the poison training, so her eyes look unhealthy like that. I’ve been wondering if the concept would look like that in the game, and it actually does.

F.A.N.G actually had eyes like that in SFV with his Nguuhao Story costume (Outfit 2). FANG’s other costumes in the game didn’t have dark circles around his eyes though. And then in SF6, his eyes are a lot darker.

When AKI gets to FANG’s age, her eyes are gonna be black like his lol.

A.K.I. and the Poison she uses

In old concept art, A.K.I. was going to be similar to F.A.N.G where her hair is black, her skin has some color, and her hands stained with poison. But the difference was she had to dip her hands in poison constantly because her hands do not produce poison in the same way like FANG’s. Because a poison pot near her belly is going to obscure her slender figure, the designers opted for poison-laced claws instead.

The idea of AKI not producing her own poison from her hands is actually shown in-game. AKI soaks her claws in a giant pot of poison on the character select screen. That poison belongs to FANG as noted from AKI’s taunt (“The Master’s prized poison”) and her World Tour description.

Even though AKI has to restock on poisons, she actually has poison in her body. Her Pockest quotes stated as such. Albeit she has to put away her claws when traveling by plane lol. It’s not clear whether she actually produces her own poison this way, or she ingests FANG’s before going into battle.

Also from her Nightshade Pulse, she exhales poison in gaseous state from her mouth. When her poison breath blows through her claws, which are laced in FANG’s poison in liquid state, it forms a poison bubble. Basically she’s using a combination of her own poison with FANG’s. Isn’t that neat? Oh, considering she has poison in her mouth, it’s best not to kiss her there unless you’ve built a strong tolerance to poison!

And must I add, her favorite poisons are neurotoxins 💜💜

And a little tidbit regarding about FANG’s poison, at least the early concept of it. Initially, the devs were going to have FANG being naturally born with poison hands, but he uses poison that is environmentally friendly (?!?!?!??!!!). Lol um whut 😂😂. This early aspect of FANG ended up seeping into his 20 minute speech bubble lol. Even evil bad guys care about the earth 😜😜.

According to official lore, Nakayama said FANG’s poison can melt almost anything, except for gold. Makes sense because his Shadaloo cell phone and the hilt of his Nguuhao dagger is made of gold.

But since AKI is also using FANG’s poison with her claws, which are obviously not gold (at least in her default costume), why do they not melt? It is possible that her claws are made of platinum as that’s another metal that only Aqua Regia can dissolve (it can dissolve gold too). But also, the blade of FANG’s dagger is made of stainless steel and is said to be embedded with poison. I guess this is another metal that FANG can’t melt. That being said, it is possible that AKI’s claws are made of the same metal as FANG’s blade. That’s what I can deduce from this!

There’s no guarantee that FANG would come back playable, but this post is meant for FANG supporters to read so that they know he’s not deconfirmed (there’s a difference). All the points I’ve made reference official parts of the game and past trends of Street Fighter gaming development.

Short answer: A.K.I. is probably between 20 to 23 years old. Officially it’s said that she is quite young compared to other characters in the SF6 roster. The only character she’s older than are Lily (officially 19 years old) and Ed (he’s probably younger than Lily lol).

And I remember ryo_redcyclone made an age chart, though it’s just their estimation. This was before Ed’s birthday message when he thinks he’s still only 12 or 13 years old…Japan SF6 twitter had a meltdown when they saw that message lol.

Now people might be confused about Chun-Li’s age in that chart. I’ll keep this short, the lore setting between SF2 to SF6 is about 13 to 15 years apart. And yes, even director Nakayama confirmed that Chun-Li, Juri Han, and Mai Shiranui are close in age.

I don’t have an exact age for AKI, but those are the estimates based on official word from Capcom devs and from those who really invests in Street Fighter lore (ryo_redcyclone is the most invested imo).

Ahh it’s Ed’s birthday! The stamp on the left was from 2024 and the one on the right is this year’s. Should be size 512 x 512 px with background transparency. Extracted by me 💜💜. Also his birthday messages from 2024 and today as well.

I don’t really say this often because my mind is always on F.A.N.G and A.K.I. 💜💜, but I’ve always liked Ed ever since watching his Character Story mode in SFV (I was already aware of his existence in SF4). Yes, a lot of it was because I thought he was hot lol (I like those Bengus illustrations), but at the same time I thought his bond with Balrog had a lot of heart to it. And his story on how he wanted to break away from Shadaloo and formed a group that’s dedicated in saving individuals like himself and Falke.

For those who got into Ed because of SF6, lemme tell you that he was a “hated” character back in the SFV era. A shocker, right? Especially with the amount of fans, fanart, and fanfics that’s made to celebrate him in this day and age. A lot of people didn’t like his design, they thought his voice was annoying, his buttons were too simple, etc. Sure, his usage rate was on the moderate side so people actually did mained him, but most of the time I just saw negativity towards his character. Ngl, even though he was never my #1 fave (that’s FANG), I was somewhat taken aback on how the community treated Ed during those times. But then again, I probably feel this way for every under-appreciated character. So of course on rare occasions, I’ll drop a “I love Ed!” comment to show that he’s got some supporters.

Fast forward to June 2022, the SF6 Season 1 roster was leaked and Ed was part of it. I remember hearing people complained about his inclusion, saying characters like Dudley, Menat, Makoto, Sean, Sakura, or another highly requested character should’ve been part of the roster—not “Ed.” For me, Ed’s inclusion made sense because his lore had a lot of relevancy, being connected to Shadaloo and all. I even defended this stance from time to time when people thought Ed shouldn’t have been brought back. The community mindset was basically like this until his gameplay reveal dropped in February 2024. At that point, things were starting to turn around for him.

Nowadays, Ed is one of the most beloved characters in SF6, and I’m so happy for that. I’ve always liked him and he’s finally getting the love that he deserves. Also, the devs love him too as Ed was the driving inspiration for the creation of Street Fighter 6.
