Am I the only who gets serious lesbian vibes from Maryrose? With how she is with her human form,it could be that kind of love since she definitely consider Rosemary as a different individual than her so it's not entirely "loving yourself"

Oh, believe me, we all do! Most, if not the entirety of Shadow House fandom, thinks that Maryrose-Rosemary is a definite lesbian pair in the manor!

Just as you mentioned, Maryrose sees Rosemary as her own individual, therefore she loves and cares for her the way a living being does to one another, rather than loving her purely because Rosemary is her "Face". Regardless whether Shadows know what 'romantic love' is or not, it is for sure that Maryrose loves Rosemary deeply, and vice versa, of course!

I mean, what kind of person would yeet themselves down willingly from a god-knows-how-high-that-bridge-is just for the sake of being together?

To add more into it, considering how much Maryrose knows (and remembers from her past phase), I believe she has always seen Rosemary as her partner with equal standing ✨

Space au Shaumondays

Hello, hello Shadowhunters fandom !

So I’m really into that whole Space Au for the Shaumondays thingy ^^

I already did Star Wars and Malec, so I wanted to know if you guys had any ideas of Space Au’s that I could have fun with? Any requests? Any questions lol ^^I promise, I don’t bite =) Pinky swear !!

There's a serious question about Adult Shadows that I thought of: Is it possible for Adult Shadows to reproduce with eachother? I mean the children can even get engaged so they can get married when they become adults,there must be a reason for that, nearly anything in the Shadow House has its causes and reasons

What are the possibilities for a male adult and a female adult, both are perfectly unified with their humans, to get married and then decide to reproduce?

I mean would the child born from two unified shadows can be like Kate? Born with a human look but ended up turning into shadow when they get older,hell they can even turn their appearance to human form at will due to their parents being unified shadows. Then we are also left with the question which is can Shadows even reproduce?

Also I don't really think that even if Unified Shadows can reproduce,the Shadow House would stop recruiting children, after all those soots ain't gonna make themselves and they do need money gained from soot production to fund the spendings of many aspects (infrastructure, logistics of food and clothing,etc) and ofc the lavishness of noble lifestyle too

Sophie literally has a butterfly wing attached to her outfit and I'm pretty sure she ripped the wing by accident more than once, which means money is needed to get a new wing or to repair the wing

It's interesting to think about,after all if there's a character who are born from two unified adult shadows. It would be hella interesting honestly. Like how can they explain to other child shadows that Mommy and Daddy are shadows and that they don't have a Living Doll because they already have a face. Oh!!! What if there is an entire Shadow House to cater for that,where offsprings of unified shadows are put there, separated from the shadow children who are born from morphs that mimic the human children?

First of all, that's honestly a question that I have at the back of my mind for a long time!

You did pretty well on breaking down the possibilities. I must admit that for the engaged-married situation, my first thought is that they're just doing so because that is what humans do. Humans marry each other-- It will make them become more human-like.

For the reproduce part, if Shadows do reproduce sexually, I think it's a various level of fucked-up, considering that their bodies are basically corpses of dead humans (sort of, it's very much unclear). And I have always been curious about how do Morphs even reproduce, because not even Shadows know how do they originally came to be as Morphs.

If there are Shadows that are born from two unified Adults, I think they will either be treated in a slightly higher hierarchy, or as an experiment to see what kind of Shadows would be born. I do think that last part is a possibility, or could be an AU in itself!

Why the adults didn't think in put sugar in coffee to sweeten and don't taste bitter? Or it didn't work because of soot can't be sweetened?

That, I am not sure either! I'm mostly guessing that they didn't know, don't care enough, or just going with the flow on how things were done in the past. But it's pretty unlikely that they didn't know, since for example, Suzanna herself adds sugar and milk to John's coffee that one time so the taste is bearable.

Regarding the soot part, I thought it's mostly just because soot don't really mix with water nor sugar, so they can't be sweetened and perhaps stand out a lot in that aspect. But coffee is out of question, it can still be sweetened regardless.

I don't know how and when do they add the soot into the coffee, how much there is, or what side effects does it give other than brainwashing- But maybe that gives another reason as to why the coffee is bitter.

I wonder how the shadows choose their clothes and wich color they like.

I also wonder! Do they go through fashion books, if there's any? Is there a designer Shadow, to ensure they all look like nobles? Do they have favorite colors or styles?

I suppose those things are done by the adults since we rarely get to see children Shadows requesting outfits change (have we ever, at all?), but I wonder if there's some kind of system that picks the outfits for each new Shadows.

Since Lydia, Jeremiah, Oliver are in the same debutant class which means they play the Debut game together which also means they possibly nuked the damn place,but mostly Oliver did it. Science kids are terrifying,they definitely created something like soot bombs

I'm just thinking whoever was their examiner,this is the examiner's face when some kids nuked the whole "gameboard" the examiner put lots of effort in making:

Since it's usually an adult who is the Debut's examiner,what was going their head the entire debut is: "I hate being a examiner,so glad I didn't choose the teacher career"

HAHAH- I can definitely see that happened in the canon! I do wonder though, whether the adults / examiners take notice or not regarding individual interests from the debutantes before the debut, other than their soot quantities and connections with their Living Dolls, and make a plan for it out of those informations all together.

Looking at our main cast's debut, it seems that the ones that have to work and think hard are the Living Dolls, so I am curious how do they insert their science knowledge through their ways of saving their Masters. Of course, there's also a possibility for the debut system to be completely different from the example we've seen!

There's a very plausible explanation as to why Great Grandfather is absent most of the time and barely appears. It's simple: He's old

According to the wiki, he's 63+ and the fact that his physique is pretty massive. His age pair with his physique,you get an old grandad who can barely move and seems to be in one place due to old age. Yes we all know he's technically the mysterious final boss type of characters. But then again, he's still the old grandpa who's just getting older and older with a lot of grandchildren who he possibly cannot know all of their names. All things considered,he's still a very dominant being in the Shadow House so don't mess with him or you get it

Actually it's funny if you think about it,a patriarchal grandpa who's the head of the family, he's absent most of the time cuz he's old and doesn't know about a lot of his grandkids much less their names lol. I can't imagine what would happen if he's off his meds!!!!

I like the way you think! Perhaps he is indeed just too old, which means that his internal body system is slowly falling apart as well. This could work considering that we never know the average lifespan of Morphs and/or Shadows-- even more so since Shadows are basically sentient soot living inside human bodies as their vessels.

(I've questioned that before too, like, if the human body dies, will they also die? Or rather, after unification, maybe the body is already a corpse?)

However, since we still don't know much, we couldn't tell what is this man made of. He might be a Shadow that also evolved from Morph, or he might be a similar case to Catherine, but retains the humanoid ability somehow. He could be anything-- Who knows? He might even be dead a long time ago and we'll never know.

Also, since you mentioned 'off his meds', I remembered this headcanon of mine where the Great Grandfather is actually consumed by his own soot power, as opposed to the fact that his brainwash power doesn't work on Shadows-- Although that won't really explain or add anything within the story.
