Un député Shabak du Parlement irakien a révélé que les jeunes Shabak sont prêts à se battre aux côtés des forces Peshmergas pour libérer leurs zones. Shabaka a déclaré à BasNews que plus de 1.000 jeunes Shabaks se sont déjà engagés à recevoir une formation du ministère des peshmergas de la Région du Kurdistan. Il a expliqué que les Shabaks espèrent jouer un rôle actif en aidant les peshmergas contre Daesh au nord de l'Irak. «Les gens souhaitent que, à l'avenir, la zone Shabak soit intégrée à l'intérieur de la frontière de la région du Kurdistan", a révélé Shabaki.Les combattants Shabak ont déjà formé un bataillon qui combat maintenant aux côtés des peshmergas sur la ligne de front Khazr. Le député a dit qu'un deuxième bataillon Shabak sera bientôt opérationnel tandis que l'opération pour libérer les zones Shabak se rapproche. Les personnes de la minorité Shabak vivent principalement dans le nord de la province irakienne de Ninive, envahie par les militants de Daesh mi-2014. La formation du premier bataillon Shabak a commencé le 1er février 2015 sur la base militaire Soran dans la province d'Erbil. Les 650 premiers peshmergas Shabak combattent depuis la fin de leur formation sous l'autorité du ministère des peshmergas. Son rôle est de protéger les villes Shabak kurdes dans les territoires contestés de Daesh.
"Nous avons demandé au KRG de former une deuxième unité de peshmergas Shabak ", avaient indiqué des responsables de la communauté Shabak, le 26 janvier 2015. C'est presque fait.
Rappelons que le KRG a déjà approuvé et formé des unités spéciales de Peshmergas kurdes yézidis et assyriens.
