I come bearing gifts for the Secret Santa Exchange hosted by @starwarsfandomfests!

I wrote "Unspoken" over on ao3 for @shadowlight17. I used your prompts of 'quiet comfort' and 'morning of holiday' with the 'winter' theme.

"Unspoken" is established relationship Codywan and is set after the war, featuring quiet conversations and a bit of mourning. I hope that you enjoy!

Glory, not something Obi-Wan would’ve ever associated himself with. But then again, these were different times. It didn’t help that his Commander was the Mandalorian embodiment of the extremely un-Jedi-like attribute.

Obi-Wan sometimes thought back on his first meeting with his commander. They'd been on the move, no time for a quiet chat or an icebreaker, and he thought he'd heard "Cody" when he'd asked for the name and not the number. After his rusty grasp of Mando'a had begun to creep back, however, he'd begun wondering: had he misheard? Had it been "Kote" all along? 

Whatever the HoloNews Network said, this war wasn't being fought for accolades. The Jedi might be spoken of in lofty terms, given titles that sounded impressive on news breaks, but Obi-Wan has never wanted glory for himself.

Cody didn't fight for glory either, but he certainly looked glorious on occasion. In the midst of battle, Obi-Wan had paused more than once to watch his commander throwing himself into the fray like an ancient warrior trailing blood-rage behind him like red ribbons of violence. It woke something in Cody to fight hand-to-hand, even against droids.

It would have been worrisome in someone less grounded and calm than Cody. But Obi-Wan had never tried to keep him from his melees. He never emerged unscathed, but he always came out the other side steady and focused. Any Jedi might envy that level of centered cool. Whatever it was he found in that kind of close-quarters combat, it seemed to do him good.

Simply put, Cody fought with all the brilliant passion of someone whose namesake was glory. Obi-Wan didn't have it in himself to interfere.

Ah— it’s been years since you asked this- I’m so sorry for not responding for a long time! I think it has been a roller coaster year add with not checking tumblr as often as I used to…
