Shadowmancy Virgil :P
Shadowmancer
at 3am, a new story idea came to me almost fully fledged and, unusually, I actually wrote it down. Now I just have to find enough spoons to write the damned thing. Along with all my other projects...
It involves a necromancer who’s part of an order of Shadowmancers who have no ties to monarch or borders, a battle between two dragons and the royal army sent to stop them, shadow-magic, angst, feels, grief, loss, friendship, camaraderie, comfort, found family, a prince, a badass female dwarf, a sassy female feline (have no idea what to call them but they’re basically rakshasas), a huge male human, and a half-goblin half-elf mage. They all have names (unusually for me at this stage) and backstory, and why can’t I just pull a story from my head and have it on paper instantly...
The necromancer’s ‘faceclaim’ or inspiration is basically the undead Breton hero from the ESO cinematic trailers.
and that’s that.
new RPG character for a superhero game!
100+ years in a stasis capsule can give ya such a crick in the neck! Gumshoe might not be 100% human anymore, but she knows how to throw shade just like in the old days. literally. her superpower is based around controlling her own shadow. she’s just glad to be out of her cage, and she’s doing just fine
Regarding Johnny 13...
You know, aside from his intro episode when he tried to trick Jazz into becoming the new vessel for his girlfriend Kitty when her essence was split between the real world and the Ghost Zone, Johnny isn’t really a bad guy so much as he is a rebel and a troublemaker. But what teenager isn’t since Johnny looks like he died around the age of 18 or maybe his early 20′s in a motorcycle accident. In fact to some extent I kinda like him (although I’d like him more if he didn’t give Danny such a hard time by sending his Shadow to cause trouble when Danny has enough bad luck as it is!)
Anyways, has anyone else noticed that out of all the ghosts Danny fights he’s by far the most “human” in appearance? I know that in his intro episode Johnny suppressed his ghostly glow to trick Jazz, but even when he has it around him Johnny still looks so human. I wonder why that is? Did he “die” recently, as within this decade maybe? Who can say...
My theory though is that the reason Johnny looks so human is because his powers take on a different form, likely as a manifestation of something Johnny dealt with a lot before he died; namely his “bad luck.” And that bad luck takes the form of a disembodied shadow that Johnny can command at will. They’re part of each other yet not quite and they seem to have have a symbiotic relationship, like Johnny only has standard ghost powers without Shadow, and since Shadow has a weakness to strong light he tends to hide within Johnny’s shadow until summoned. It’s almost as if Shadow acts as a familiar of sorts. I may explore this idea for something in my fanfiction Ravenheart involving shadowmancy.
That’s why I think either Shadow attached himself to Johnny back when he was human because he liked his rebellious spirit, or he was formed after Johnny died to manifest the poor guy’s rotten luck. But by far the most interesting part about all this is that Johnny not only accepts Shadow but also likes to actively use his bad luck powers to cause trouble. So even when they do cause trouble, plus Johnny tends to get too flirty with human girls, he’s content to just ride his motorcycle in the human and ghost realm either with or without his girlfriend Kitty and or mess with Danny while he’s at it. Johnny never causes any serious damage though, even after the whole Jazz thing because his motivation there was to be with Kitty since she got hurt and became unstable. Oh, and fun fact for anyone who doesn’t already know but the voice actors of Johnny and Kitty are married in real life! Naw! So in their case, even “til death do you part” couldn’t keep these two lovebirds apart. In fact, when Johnny began getting a little too frisky with the human girls she even went as far as overshadowing Paulina and flirting with Danny to make him jealous. Anyways that about it as far as Johnny 13 goes, hope you enjoyed reading!
An old Lith being all shadowy and badass, and a Wiskerville being…Wiskerville (not my character).
