The variant cover for Sonic the Hedgehog #280. I’m surprised it took so long since the release of Sonic Unleashed for something like this to happen.

I recently picked up some back issues of Mega Man, one of which I noticed had a cover with some very familiar artwork. I know that Archie comics has slipped in a few anime references and homages before, but I think this one is my favorite.

Here’s a close-up of the comics mounted above my desk. The leftmost one is a Stan Lee-autographed gift my wife gave me for our first anniversary, next to two others which we got Stan to sign when we met him during our (fantastic) four-year anniversary. The one that’s encased is the first cover appearances (second overall) of Batroc the Leaper and Peggy Carter, plus the first appearance of the android Ultimo.

The others are a couple other hallmark issues, including the first appearances of the Mad Thinker and his Awesome Android, and the first appearance of the joke character Forbush Man.

Another one of the silly Archie crossovers that recently came out. It’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect from the title. While the violence is (sort of) less gratuitous than in Archie vs. Predator, there’s still a lot of senseless carnage involving the Archie cast:

Anyway, this was a nice one-shot with a lot of fun B-movie action, though it was  kind of strange seeing Dan Parent’s art with so much blood in it.
