Expectations for Season 9
Prolific 70s-80s television actor Theodore Martin McGinley has a dubious reputation as “the Patron Saint of Shark Jumping” and “the killer of television shows.”
You see, Ted McGinley was usually added to a long-running and venerable show’s cast well into the show’s run, in later seasons, right when they run out of steam creatively and continue unecessarily. In these cases, Ted appears on dying shows like the Grim Reaper himself. Ted McGinley joining the cast can usually be identified as the exact moment the show jumped the shark, as he did as a later season cast addition on such TV classics as Happy Days, Dynasty, the Love Boat, and Married With Children.
What gets even more impressive is that his appearance serving a harbinger of doom for television shows continued well into the 2000s. His run of guest appearances on both the West Wing and the Practice coincided at just the precise moment when the consensus of most long term viewers was that the shows had gone on a bit too long. Ted McGinley is, in that respect, like the gods Mercury or Anubis, a psychopomp who’s duty is to guide a dying show to the next world.
So S13 producers' focus so far...
Tina & Kandy as production faves who will be almost definitely (accidentally) fan anti-faves for at least the 1st half of the season
Symone as the solid talent that will be over-effusively praised until we turn off her
Olivia as everyone's actual general fave who's overlooked by producers
Utica as the alternate queen they thought everyone would love
Denali as the alternate queen everyone actually loves
And Rosé as the one given the edit to make her seem crazy by taking all her quotes out of context or putting them over unrelated conversations
Once again nobody on production seemed to see the Tamisha love coming either. At this point I wonder if they even engage with the fanbase at all before plotting & filming...
I know there was drama regarding Channel Awesome in the past mainly regarding Spoony, Obscurus Lupa, and Phelous.
But after hearing Linkara leaving the site, I just thought of it as he was in a position where he can stand on his own. But then I find out through TV Tropes that a lot of people are leaving as well: Rap Critic, Suede, Todd in the Shadows, SF Debris, Marzgurl etc.
Can someone explain to me what the hell happened? What pushed these creative people to leave the site so suddenly?
ok i colored my POTO review poster back in july (bc i wanted it signed at connecticon, which i did get signed hell yeah) and just kept forgetting to post it???? but its the 30th anniversary of the musical so i guess thats as good an excuse as any haha

so today marks one year since the youtube premiere of my favorite nostalgia critic episode, phantom of the opera! great music parodies, lots of good side characters getting character development, cool special effects, funny twists, confirmed hyperboner, and introduced me to shark jumping!
maybe if i have time i’ll make this a poster. i just rlly love this one.
interestingly, yesterday, the episode’s channel awesome premiere date annniversary, was also andrew lloyd webber’s birthday...coincidence?
