"To show that it's not a barrier our scientists have discovered that most sharks caught in the nets are caught going back out to the ocean." I couldn't have said it better myself, but that's a quote from the Natal Sharks Board in my interview. There's so much to consider in that quote. 1. Many people still believe nets create a barrier that keeps animals they are afraid of away from them. That's a huge misconception and it is simply Not true. 2. More than half the sharks caught are caught on their way out. This means that whether you're scared or not, you were sharing the beach with the sharks and were unharmed. Another way to think about this is that when someone is bitten, it has nothing to do with whether nets were present, it is nothing more than an unfortunate, exceptionally rare occurrence. If anything one could argue that nets increase your chances of being bitten because the nets draw in larger sharks that are attracted to the myriad of innocent animals caught and dying in those same nets. 3. The only reason Natal Sharks Board admits to these numbers is that other organizations fighting for marine life exposed the truth. "Their scientists" don't get credit for that. Public pressure gets the credit. YOU ARE BEING LIED TO. But why? We'll get to that... Reposted from @sharkangels Posted @withregram • Tiger sharks are known for eating almost anything, including other sharks, fish, seabirds, dolphins, sea turtles, rays and crustaceans. This makes them especially vulnerable to plastic pollution in our oceans. So what can we do to cut down on plastics? 🎥: @alexkyddphoto #sharkangels #fearintofascination #sharkconservation #singleusesucks #sharklover #plasticpollutes #bansingleuseplastic #ilovesharks #tigershark #oceanpollution #sharklovers #apexpredatornotmonster #divetoinspire #underwatervideo #uwvideo #pelagic #oceanplastic https://www.instagram.com/p/CTCUpggDhsB/?utm_medium=tumblr
