a moment that had to be cut from the video to keep private relationships out of the limelight
(this is on more of the angst/comfort side-reader is depicted as crying)

"wholesome stories only w/ thomas sanders"
"...today is the day they will visit him after they're out of work/school. i think i'll visit him the next day and tell him about this post, tell him that other people knew he existed and that he did an amazing job." shayne continued on with the post, reading the op's sign off before lifting his head and turning to his friends on the couch.
today was another filming day for 'smosh reads reddit' and happened to be about wholesome posts, featuring thomas sanders. you sat behind the cameras, comfortable with your position as a crew member for this specific video, knowing that these types of stories often brought you to tears.
you had been the one to filter through the reddit stories that other producers had provided, making sure that the stories weren't too sad, but that they also weren't too 'neck beard'. and you had done well for the most part, making sure to line up sad stories with ones that were funny and just generally sprinkle the vibes so that they weren't too condensed. but today had just not been your day.
it took about an hour of filming before the day had finally got to you. when shayne started getting to the end of the post about siblings, you lost it.
shayne continued to read, "...and when i passed my brother's door, i heard him crying in his room. i knocked on his door and went inside, and the moment he saw me, he wiped away his tears and smiled. He asked if i was alright. i didn't feel the need to answer. i just hugged him..."
small tears had been silently running down your cheeks, no sniffles coming from you yet. courtney, one of your two fiances, was sat beside you in her own director's chair, and had been the only one to notice the tears. they had started to slowly wrap an arm around you and rub your sides comfortingly, kissing your shoulder, not caring about the lipstick stain that would be left.
angela and thomas had clearly been moved by the story, thomas' lips starting to pull down and angels's eyes filling with empathy.
as the post came to an end, shayne glanced over at the opposite side of the room where he knew his two partners were seated. seeing you in need of comfort, set off shayne, he needed to make sure you and courtney would be alright.
"...he wants to be ours, so i want to be his. thank you for reading," shayne stopped, eyes drifting towards his fiances and making a clear pause in his speech and actions so that the editors wouldn't be too upset as he continued with, "damn, uh look can we cut real quick?"
shayne was standing up and placing the ipad he read from on to his chair, before anyone could say something. at this point, you had been sniffling some and courtney had placed her head on your shoulder, replacing the arm wrapped around you, with a small squeeze from your now-linked fingers.
angela and thomas had turned backwards, angela making a cooing sound at the scene of you crying, sniffling quietly between laughs as shayne came over to pull you into a hug, placing a kiss on your head, before walking back over to his chair, not a word shared between you two.
"babe, it's alright," courney's eyebrows pulled together and she smiled, looking towards you.
you had stopped crying (your eyes were puffy and your cheeks were red) and started to choke out, "i'm okay guys! i was just sad."
there were a couple laughs from your partners and friends, some 'aww-ing' and some 'ooo-ing', and quickly the video was back on track.
"uuh yeah so lets just cut that," emily rose's voice came from the other side of the set, "and lets just pick up with the comments"
One Step at a Time - Shayne x platonic! Reader (Part 4)
Description: When y/n has no choice but to leave a toxic relationship with her two young children, Mason and Hallie, she goes to her best friend, Shayne for help. Little did she know that decision would change her life.
Warnings: None, just fluff
Notes: Hey guys. I'm back! This is more of a filler chapter while I work on the next parts, so it's not long. But I hope it's enough to tide you all over until the next part :)
________
In the kitchen, the little makeshift family were preparing for a cosy movie night. Pizza had been ordered and snacks were being prepared.
Shayne was playing with Hallie on the floor of the living room with wooden blocks. Mason was helping Y/n and Courtney with the snacks.
"So... what are you thinking about for your birthday, Mase?".
He shrugged. "I don't know."
"If you want, you can have people over here." Courtney suggested.
"Well, if I'm inviting people, I just want my friends there. I'm not inviting my whole class."
"That's okay. You can invite whoever you want. It's your birthday, you don't have to have people you don't want there."
"Okay." He sighed. "There's that new place with the indoor playground. I think it has a trampoline park inside too. So, maybe I could have my birthday there."
"If that's what you want to do."
He nodded. "Yeah, I think it'll be fun."
It was then Shayne slowly appeared at the doorway. "Uh... guys, you may wanna come see this."
Confused, the three of them followed him through. He motioned to Hallie, who had both of her little hands on the coffee table. There was a wooden block left on there, and clearly she wanted it.
They all watched as, with whatever baby strength she had, she wobbled into a standing position, using the table to pull herself up.
Y/n's jaw dropped as her eyes watered. Since she seemed to be in her feelings, luckily Courtney had been quick enough to take a video on their phone. Shayne went over and picked her up, prompting them to all cheer.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have a standing baby."
He passed her to y/n, who had come out of her daze. "Oh my goodness! Good job, Hallie."
She sniffled. "Please tell me someone got a video of that."
Courtney grinned, shaking their phone. "I got you, don't worry."
Mason sighed. "Finally! Now I can teach her to skateboard."
Y/n chuckled. "Not quite yet, buddy."
After having some pizza, y/n took Hallie upstairs to get her ready for bed. She gave her a bath, dried her off with a yellow duck towel, and changed her into a fresh diaper and a teddy bear onesie for sleeping. Then she brought her into their shared room, made sure the baby monitors had plenty of charge in them. Then she stood and held her close to her chest, swaying back and forth to get her to sleep.
It didn't take long, but y/n just wanted a moment alone with her baby.
After a few minutes, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
Shayne popped his head in, and noticed that Hallie was asleep, so kept his voice low.
"Hey, are you coming down?".
She nodded. "Yeah, in a minute."
Giving her a small smile, he came further into the room and turned the nightlight on. Then he grabbed a baby monitor and a pacifier, patiently waiting for y/n to put Hallie in the crib. After covering her loosely with a blanket and placing a little blue dog next to her, she put the pacifier in her mouth. Then followed Shayne out the door.
"Thank you." She said.
He tilted his head, still holding the monitor. "For what?".
"For everything."
"Hey, what are best friends for?".
She gasped softly. "I'm your best friend?".
He chuckled, shaking his head. "It comes and goes."
The two of them headed back downstairs and settled on the couches with Courtney and Mason. About halfway through the movie, Mason cuddled into her and she smiled, kissing his head.
_
A few days later, after a long day of filming videos at work, it was time to pick Mason up from school. Shayne and Courtney took Hallie home with them while y/n went to the school.
She parked the car, got out and went to wait outside the gates with the other parents. She hated this part, having to make small talk with them. There was always some drama she had to pretend to care about.
"Oh, did you hear about Sandra? Apparently she's getting a divorce."
"Claire got plastic surgery done. Did you see it? Looks awful."
"I heard Patricia is getting married again. That's three times! She's only thirty."
"You didn't hear anything from me, but I heard that Louise is having an affair with a teacher in the school, and got pregnant!".
Y/n couldn't think of a worse place to be. But she supposed it was just one of those things you had to do for your kids.
After what seemed like hours, she saw Mason. But he wasn't by himself or with any friends she recognised. He came out of the school with a girl about his age, and he was holding her hand, seemingly leading her to the gates.
Y/n watched as he gave the girl a hug. They parted ways and he made his way over to her.
"Hey, buddy."
"Hey."
He went to walk ahead of her, but she was not letting him brush this off.
"Who was that you were with?".
"Oh, that was Charlie."
She chuckled. "And who is Charlie?".
He grinned. "A new friend. I invited her to the party on Saturday."
"Oh, you did?".
He nodded as they headed towards the car. Once they were inside, she turned to him. "So, why were you holding her hand?".
He smiled and rolled his eyes playfully. "If you must know, she just joined my class today. She dropped her bag in the hall, and stuff spilled out everywhere, so I helped her clean it up."
She chuckled. "Yes, I have to know. You're my kid. But also that doesn't answer why you were holding her hand."
"She was nervous."
"Well, that's very nice of you and I'm sure she appreciated it."
He shrugged. "She's cool. But she's kind of a nerd."
She blinked once. Like he wasn't a nerd himself.
"How so?".
"Well, I found out she likes dinosaurs and sharks. She's also good at drawing, which gives her an instant nerd sticker. But she does like Marvel too. She doesn't have any comics though, so I said she could borrow some of mine."
Y/n shook her head. This kid was on another planet.
"So, she's coming to your party?".
"Mhm. She said she'd ask her mom."
"Okay." She smiled. "Well, I'm proud of you for being nice to her."
"No one else seemed to want to talk to her. Which is weird, because when I was talking to her, she didn't seem that bad. She was just quiet at first."
"Sometimes it takes a minute to warm up to new people."
He hums. "That's weird. Just talk to people. It's not that hard."
She chuckled. "You're right. It shouldn't be hard."
When they got home, Mason went to the kitchen table to do his homework and y/n sat on the couch with Courtney, who had Hallie in their lap.
"So, what's the gossip of the gates today?".
She chuckled. "They're insufferable, Court. I don't know how you're interested in anything they say."
They shrugged. "It's good character material. Was Sharon there?".
"Which one is that?".
"She's got dark red hair with bangs. Usually wearing big gold hoop earrings."
"Oh, yeah. She was there. She mentioned something about Claire getting plastic surgery done."
Courtney gasped. "She did?! How does it look?".
"I don't know. I didn't see her, but apparently it's bad."
She shook her head. "Anyway, we have to add one more kid to the guest list."
"Really? Why?".
"Mason made a new friend today. A new girl in his class."
They gasped. "A girl?!".
"Shh!".
"Oh, right. Sorry." They giggled. "Wait, why's this a big deal? He has a lot of girl friends."
"Well, they were holding hands and he wouldn't stop talking about her in the car."
"Aww, that's so cute!".
Y/n chuckled. "If I know my son at all, I believe Charlie will soon be a regular visitor."
"That is really sweet, though."
"He spent the whole day with her when he saw no one else wanted to talk to her."
Courtney smiled. "Well, that probably means you must be doing something right. He's a really good kid."
Y/n nodded just as Shayne came into the room. "What are we talking about?".
"Girl stuff." They both replied at the same time.
"Oh, okay." He trailed off, looking lost. But he shrugged it off and headed into the kitchen to make a start on dinner.
Y/n and Courtney giggled, the two of them seemingly in agreement that it was funny to gang up on Shayne.
Summary: This isn't your regular movie night with Shayne.
Requested by @winifrede . This was fun to write!
"Pride and Prejudice?"
"No, watched that with Jackie."
"Mr. and Mrs. Smiths?"
"Really?"
"Hey, it's still a good movie."
"Yeah, from old fossils like you"
Shayne gasped dramatically as he grabbed his chest.
"That is just hurtful and you know that."
"Oh please, nothing can penetrate those muscles you have." You said, popping some popcorn in your mouth.
It was your annual movie night with Shayne at your place. (You tease how he has such a small place for a big man and he blushes at times when you call him that.) Now as you scrolled down Netflix, it seemed as if you went through the entire collection of films.
You suddenly get a ping off your phone and you look down at it, chuckling.
"What?" Shayne asks, curiously.
"Ah it's nothing."
"C'mon, I wanna see." Shayne whined.
"Dude, get a grip." You said, pulling your phone away from his view.
Not even a millisecond, Shayne jumped on top of you, trying to reach your phone as he tickled your waist.
"What - the - hell?" You gasped, laughing uncontrollably, feeling as you're losing the gip on your phone.
Shayne finally reached out and finally caught it, staring at your screen.
"Now let's see why you're so secretive."
He inspects and sees that it's a video on YouTube, but specifically a video they just published online for Smosh. Shayne and Damien were supposed to shoot a cooking video and have the Mythical Kitchen Chefs test your food.
Damien got a cold, so you filled in as Shayne's competition. The entire video was just you bickering back and forth about who made better cookies.
"How was filming with the Try Guys baking competitions compared to this?" Shayne asked Josh who was off camera.
"Actually, pretty chaotic here than their studio."
You laugh as you knead your dough.
"Yeah, you viewers are lucky you don't have to be fed up with this guy. When Shayne and I bake, he's so technical with the measurements, that he bought a food scale for my birthday." You said.
"So we can both use it!" Shayne yelled out.
Shayne looks at the camera, pausing his mixing.
"If you saw how she bakes at home, you'd understand my frustration. Look at her now!"
Your side of the kitchen was messier compared to Shayne's, making you frustrated.
"You know, when the judges eat mine, it'll taste like love. Yours will taste like stale protein shakes." You said as he was also using that as an ingredient.
"Oh yeah? Why don't you come over here and prove it." He said, taking a spoon of peanut butter and trying to flick it in your bowl.
"No means don’t even try." You said as Shayne tried to sabotage your recipe.
"It looks like you could use more - flour." Shayne said, throwing a fistful of all-purpose flour all over your arm.
"That's it. No more playing nice." You replied, throwing some marshmallows at him as he tried deflecting it. You two went at it for a couple of minutes till Shayne lifted you in the air and threw you on his shoulder.
Both of you were in hysterics.
The editing team had to reduce the food fight to manage the video better, but the full fight was posted later, gaining more traction with viewers. Shayne and you gained a good amount of new followers the following day.
Shayne scrolled down and saw the comments, knitting his eyebrows.
is it me or - no, no one sees this but me? okay 👀
I will go FERRAL if this is platonic because that's just robbing us 😤🫠
I want Shayne to lift me in the air like that 😭🥵
"These comments are very..."
"Colorful? You should see the fan edits."
"You've watched them?" Shayne said looking down at you.
"Yeah, they've been all over my fyp on TikTok."
Shayne chuckles as you later joined in the laughter till it dies.
"Hey, Shayne?"
"Yeah?"
"You're still on top of me."
"Oh, sorry." He quickly said, sitting up.
You shimmy upward and stole your phone back from him.
"C'mon, I think it's more entertaining to watch these compared to whatever's on TV."
So all night, you and Shayne were comparing fan edits on your couch.
"Here, look at this one." Shayne said, lifting his phone to your face. It was the infamous Keanu Reeves TikTok where he's crying while sipping wine and wearing headphones. The caption read 'give up all your money or have Shayne & you as canon'
"Nope, mine's better." You said, showing Shayne a compilation of you two titled 'Shayne Topp Shooting His Shot.'
"Wow, they said I tried flirting with you 39 times?" Shayne asked.
"That's only from this month's videos." You said.
"Well, you're also flirting back at me." He said, knowing he's just getting under your skin
"Please, you’re the one always stirring the pot.” You said, leaning forward to him as you crossed your arms
“Oh I’ll show you pot stirring” Shayne said in a matter a fact voice, inching closer to your face. You flutter your eyes as his direct his gaze to your lips. And in a moment, Shayne found his hands back to your waist as he kissed you.
Your face began to heat up and your thoughts became haywired. But all you could do is deepen the kiss as you tangled your fingers through his hair. Soon enough, you found yourself climbing on top of his lap as you didn't draw a breath till you pulled away.
You two stare at each other in bewilderment.
"Wow" Shayne whispered.
"You know, you're not as bad of a kisser as I thought you'd be."
"You thought of us kissing?" He asks, softly.
"From time to time. How about you?" You said, not knowing his true feelings.
"I um, I think about us... a lot."
"Really?" Your heart skipped a beat.
"Yeah I mean, you make me laugh the most when we shoot videos and when you're the only one who actually listens to my workout regime-"
"I know how much you like to brag," You said, playfully rolling your eyes.
"-but you take the time to listen. And when we hang out like this, I wouldn't trade it for anything else."
You slowly wrap your hands behind his neck as you look at him lovingly.
"So, what are we going to do now?"
"I want us to be something more if you want to."
You nod your head softly as you place your hand on his cheek.
"Wouldn't have anyone else, Shayne."
Shayne gives a breath of release and smiles at you, beaming with so much joy. You two kiss again, later connecting your foreheads together feeling this fluttering sensations you never felt before.
Later, you find yourself in Shayne's arms as you cuddle under a blanket as you watch 10 Things I Hate About You, as you finally get to end your movie night right.
shayne rolled his eyes, already obeying with a wordless reply.
you pressed play on your phone and put it down on the center console. soon after, the car’s speakers filled with hepburn’s moon river.
hardly satisfied with your feat, you turned your body toward your door and stared out the window. you were mad at him, because he ruined the moment. the sun was perfectly set in front of the both of you as you drove on the highway. mountains became more prominent on different parts of the horizon. shayne had just finished driving through the majority of albuquerque and you felt the song was fitting for the view, at least, before you started to argue about something you didn’t even remember anymore.
dream maker, you heart breaker; wherever you’re goin’, i’m goin’ your way
you hated when this happened. you found yourself remembering every argument, all forming into one giant fight in your mind. about leaving on time, about family members making the trip hard, about each other making the journey unbearable; no matter how you went about it, you two had basically fought and jabbed at one another the entire time. and the damn song you put on made you feel worse, when it was supposed to romanticize the sunset.
two drifters off to see the world, there’s such a lot of world to see
sometimes, you felt so alone. you felt trapped, because he was with you when you found out about your parents. who else could you talk to about anything? you didn’t have your mentors anymore to help with relationship situations like these. you were too old to google the problem and search for answers. hopeless moments lasted forever, and branded the edges of your memories as if to remind you that you never truly enjoyed a quiet moment.
with a sigh, you placed your hands in your lap and picked at your nails. to your surprise, shayne’s right hand grabbed your left and brought it closer to him.
“i’m sorry. i’m sorry for arguing with you right now, and for arguing so much during the trip. i picked a lot of fights that i shouldn’t have, and i didn’t mean to do that to you. i know it’s really hard, going back after so long and around their anniversary, but i love you, and i know your parents would be proud of you.”
you gave his hand a squeeze as you fought back tears; your head and body still faced the passenger window. “i’m sorry too.”
his thumb brushed against your knuckles. no words were exchanged as the song ended, and it went back to playing whatever was on his playlist.
“can you play it again?” he asked.
you nodded your head, unsure if he saw it. not wanting to break the connection, you grabbed your phone with your free hand. the song played again, and this time, your body faced him as you both silently gazed into the mountainous sunset.
moon river, wider than a mile; i’m crossing you in style someday
Love me like I haven't changed // Shayne Topp // 3
Shayne's perspective because... why not?
three // Shayne
I was reluctant to go back the next week for a multitude of reasons. The first being that I didn’t actually think she’d be back and that I’d turn up and be alone at the beach. But I had prepared myself for this, this was something I was doing for myself not just to talk to a girl I had just met.
The second reason was that I was scared, and I wasn’t sure what of. It wasn’t that I was scared to talk to Kate again, even though I’d made a massive fool of myself on the beach last Saturday. I was scared that this would actually lead somewhere. I’d spent so long getting over my ex, so many hours in therapy talking over my insecurities and readying me for this exact moment. What if it actually happened, what if I met my next heartbreak?
And yet here I stood, at the top of the stairs where I had met the woman a week prior. I had been overthinking this moment all week, tossing up whether or not it was worth coming back. But here I was, there was no going back now.
I made my way down the concrete stairs toward the water, stopping about halfway. I looked back and forth along the shore and felt my stomach drop when the thought re-entered my mind. What if she doesn’t come this week?
I swallowed my pride and sat down on the cool sand. It was significantly less windy this Saturday morning and there were actually people walking about. This brought me a strange sense of security.
I’m just a man enjoying his day off at the beach.
I was lost in my own mind, my thoughts going a million miles an hour, until a bag dropped down next to me.
“Hey,” She smiled down at me, shielding her eyes from the sun above us.
“Hey,” I replied, trying to shake the nerves that were slowly overtaking.
“I didn’t actually think you’d come,” She laughed. Oh god did she not want me here?
“I’m not one to break a promise,” I tried to play it cool.
“Hmmm, that I see,” She began,” Well… are you ready to have the life changing experience of swimming at the beach in winter?” She smiled which made me smile even wider. She didn’t wait for my response, pulling the same grey jumper over her head.
“Well?” She asked with a small smile. I realised that I had just been watching her undress… my cheeks couldn’t get any redder.
“Uhh,” I cleared my throat, ”Um, yeah. Sorry.” I stood with that and pulled my shirt over my head, dumping it on the ground beside me. I looked back at her, keeping my eyes on her face so I didn’t come across as the creep I had before.
“Okay, when I was younger I used to watch this TV show from, like, Australia. I don’t know why, don’t ask. But anyway, they were mermaids and they used to run into the ocean and dive in and it was magical,” I listened to her rambling, nodding as I did so.
“I think I’ve seen the show intro on the internet somewhere.”
“Perfect, so you understand the assignment,” She nodded her head in agreement.
“3… 2… 1… go!” And she was off, running towards the ocean. I was taken aback for a second, before following her with a laugh. I could hear her laughing ahead of me before she took heavy steps as she entered the water. Then she dove under. I followed her lead, I mean, how could I not?
It was quiet as I dove under the wave, until I came back up to the sound of her laughing hysterically. I laughed back.
“What’s so funny?” I asked, covering my mouth to try to hide just how much this girl could make me laugh.
“You just reenacted a TV show intro from the early 2000s with some random girl you met last week,” She spoke through her laugh. I watched as she began to swim out farther.
“I guess I did,” I said with a smile.
“Did it make you forget about how daunting diving into the freezing cold ocean was?” She stopped swimming and bobbed in the water facing me.
“Yeah, I guess it did,” I laughed again. I watched as she dropped down under the water, only to come back up slicking her hair back behind her ears.
“Well Shayne, do you feel the cold right now?” She asked with a sly smile.
“Funny that, I don’t. I hope you haven’t been peeing this whole time to warm up the water around us,” After I said it, I raised my eyebrows waiting for a response. I don’t know what it was about her, but I felt comfortable enough in that moment to make such a stupid joke.
She laughed and my heart skipped a beat.
“I drank a litre of water before I got here, just so you’d be warm during our swim,” She said through a laugh. I mirrored her smile.
“So without asking you the stereotypical questions one may ask when they meet someone new, how long have you lived in LA?” I changed the topic as we tread water. She smiled.
“Just over a month or so. I can tell you’ve been here a while,” She countered.
“Yeah, it’s been a good few years or so,” I looked back to her, but her focus was elsewhere. She was looking out at the horizon, watching the waves rise and fall ahead of us.
“Sometimes I wish I could just swim out into the ocean and keep going forever,” Her focus remained unwavered.
“I mean theoretically you could, but there’s a few factors that might stop you from swimming forever,” She looked over to me with a smile.
“Yeah I know… it’s just nice to think about sometimes,” I didn’t know what to counter that with. I didn’t expect her to open up the second time I met her, plus, I can’t predict what she’s going to say next.
“Well anyway, I have to get back. I have a work lunch for some dumbass guy at my office who got fired for screaming at a client over the phone,” I looked at her puzzled. What a strange way to change the conversation.
“That seems a bit harsh, maybe the client deserved it,” I rationalised as we slowly swam back to the shore.
“Well yeah, they did. But he also got caught trying to embezzle money from the guy so… I guess he needed to go,” I laughed slightly.
“Sorry, I probably shouldn’t laugh at some poor guy's misfortune,” I said as we reached the point where our feet touched the sand.
“No, laugh all you want. I called the guy a dumbass for a reason,” She smiled at me as we reached the dry sand. She reached for her pants as I reached for my shirt. I swung my shirt over my shoulder and picked up my phone and keys.
She finished tying her pants around her waist and began to tie her jumper around her shoulders, “So how did your first winter swim experience go?”
“Surprisingly well actually, it wasn’t nearly as daunting as I thought it would be.”
I watched as she picked up her bag and followed her lead as she headed toward the stairs.
“Well, this is a Saturday tradition. Rain, hail or shine you can find me here,” She looked over to me with a smile, “And you’re welcome anytime you’d like Shayne.”
I looked the other way as my cheeks flushed.
“I think I’ll be back,” I gained the slightest bit of confidence to look back over at her, she was already smiling at me.
“Great… well I’ll see you next week,” She flashed a finger-gun my way, “Sorry.. I don’t know why I just did that.” She laughed, I laughed in retaliation.
“See you then,” I pointed a finger-gun back at her with a small laugh.
With that we walked our separate ways, both hoping to see each other again.

Requested by anon: Can I get a Shayne from Smosh scenario where reader gets sick, but acts like she's ok and passes our during a challenge or something and Shayne freaks out and helps her? (Maybe Damien there too and is also worried as a friend?)
You all sat down in the couches to record a video for Smosh. You were a little nervous, because you were going to do a Spin the Bottle thing and, for what you had seen in their videos, it could get a little crazy and weird. And you were just a guest, even if you were good friends with them all. Still, you hoped whatever it was, you had to do it with Shayne or Damien, who you were closest to.
“You okay, Y/N?” The latter bumped his shoulder into yours, trying to cheer you up with a little smile. “Nervous?”
“A little bit” You shrugged to brush it off.
“You should be” Shayne jokingly got closer to you, speaking with a ‘scary’ voice. “Get ready”
“Gosh darnit, Shayne! Don’t scare Y/N!” Damien replied. “Like, it’s not that dangerous”
“Shut up” You rolled your eyes at them as they giggled together, and just then arrived the rest. Courtney and Keith were there, as were Olivia and Noah.
“Guys, we’re calling action!” They warned you behind the cameras.
“Okay” You took a deep breath, trying to settle the nerves.
You also wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. You loved hanging out with them and always had a blast, but truth was, you weren’t feeling your best. You were a little light-headed, you couldn’t tell if it was because you were giddy and jittery or because you were tired. You had starting feeling sick a few days ago and didn’t get to sleep or eat much. But that morning you felt better and blamed your unwell on the nerves.
“And action!” They announced, so you focused on smiling and waving at the camera while they did the intro.
The more you thought about being on camera and the many possible embarrassing and strange things you were about to do, the lousier you felt. Especially since you weren’t as close with the rest, only with Damien and Shayne.
“Shayne starts!” Courtney handed the giant bottle to him.
Your friend put it on the ground and gave it a good spin. You didn’t know if you wanted it to land on you or not, it was starting to get a little hard to focus. All you could think about was how you felt nauseous and warm, and the cameras and lights weren’t helping much.
“Y/N!” They all celebrated when the bottle landed on you.
Shayne picked up the bucket and rummaged through it until he pulled out a paper. The dare must have amused him, because he started laughing loudly like he did.
“Slow dancing like robots!!” He finally read, causing a few chuckles and giggles.
You were feeling a little under the weather, but you thought you could power through it. The video couldn’t take that long to film, you could hold on. You promised yourself to take some medicine and sleep for a week when you got home.
Charmingly, Shayne offered you his hand and you took it and let him pull you up. After you stood on your feet, you immediately felt ten times worse as a wave of exhaustion washed over you. You thought that it was just a head rush, but your stomach felt queasy too and your legs were shaky.
You panted in exhaustion, leaning over Shayne and resting your forehead against his shoulder. They awed and muttered amongst them, and must have think it was part of the dare, that you were goofing around, but you weren’t. You tried to call out for Shayne, but you felt so weak that you couldn’t find your voice. You only tapped him in the back but he did nothing.
Shayne’s hands were awkwardly on your back as he folded his elbow joints like a robot. But then he finally realized something was wrong when you wobbled and leaned the entirety of your weight over his torso.
“Wow, you okay?” He whispered to you, his voice dripping with concern. You weakly shook your head and tried to wrap your arms around him for support. “Oh my god!!”
“Y/N?” Courtney asked, just as worried when she saw Shayne’s panicked expression.
Shayne quickly wrapped his arms around you to hold you up. You could feel your head spinning as everyone freaked out and stood up, calling your name and loudly speaking in panic.
“Guys, I think we should stop the video!” Damien’s voice exclaimed over the ruckus.
“No, no, leave her some room to breathe!” Noah observed, seeing as everyone closed in, concerned.
“Shayne, you should get her somewhere calm” You couldn’t even distinguish whose voice that was anymore.
You felt relieved when Shayne firmly wrapped one of his strong arms around your waist and easily scooped you up as his other arm hooked under your knees. You tiredly rested your temple against his shoulder, nuzzling his neck for comfort. Damien closely followed, mumbling suggestions about how to help you.
Shayne hurriedly took you away from there and you closed your eyes, trusting him to look after you. You felt so sick that all you wanted to do was sleep and get rid of all that dizziness, queasiness and headache. As soon as you left the warm room and the crowd, you felt a little better.
Before you knew, he set you down in a couch, his arms still hovering around you in case you wobbled and fell off it. But being rid of the pressure of the video and away from the cameras and the bright lights was a big improvement. And now you were surrounded by your two best friends, who would take care of you.
“I’m gonna get you some water” Damien rushed off, leaving the room in a hurry.
“Y/N?” Shayne gently tapped your shoulder and so you looked up at him leaning down to you, even if your glance felt hazy and distant. “Hey, you okay?”
You took a deep breath, still feeling weak and faint, and nodded. He heaved a sigh of relief when you showed some sort of reaction. You hated to worry him and everyone, but you really didn’t have any strength left.
“What happened?” His voice, although soft, was dripping concern just as the one reflected in his piercing blue eyes. He paused, but seeing as you were too weak to properly reply, he continued. “Did you eat something today?”
You feebly shook your head, feeling yourself heavy and clumsy. Needing his comforting closeness, you tugged at his wrist and brought him to the couch with you until he sat by your side.
“I’m here!” Damien then returned, still as frantically as when he left. He clutched a bottle of water in his hand, and was sitting next to you in a flash. “Drink, you’ll feel better”
You took the water from him and began downing it, finding yourself to be incredibly thirsty, maybe even a little bit dehydrated too.
“Easy, buddy, we don’t want you choking on it too” Damien warned you, gently rubbing your arm as to make you feel better.
As soon as you were done drinking, you gave him the water and leaned your head on Shayne’s shoulder, completely exhausted. He wrapped an arm around you to keep you close.
“Is that better?” Your friend asked you, to which you nodded.
“You were a little sick a few days ago, right?” Shayne asked you after that. “Maybe it’s catching up to you”
“Maybe we should get you some sugar or something” Damien muttered, helplessly looking around for something that could help you. “Anything to eat…”
“I’m… I’m feeling a little better” After drinking water and sitting down there, calmly, with your close friends, you were starting to settle a bit. “Don’t worry, guys, I’m okay”
“You almost fainted on me, Y/N!” Shayne suddenly exclaimed, startled at the sound of your voice again. “If you were feeling sick, why didn’t you say so?”
You shrugged, knowing you had no real excuse. You wanted to pretend like you were okay, to keep working and hang out with your friends. But you shouldn’t have pushed yourself like that.
Noticing his friend’s annoyance, and willing to lighten the mood, Damien intervened.
“The important thing is you’re okay” He mumbled. “And now you have to rest”
“Yeah” You sighed, embracing the feeling of their protectiveness. “Thanks”
“You gave us quite a scare there” Damien let out a deep sigh, a bit relieved to see you improving.
“Sorry…” You genuinely said, patting his arm while still resting over Shayne.
“You need to take care of yourself…” Shayne mumbled, still recovering from the mini heart attack.
“Yeah” Damien warmly smiled at you in spite of it all. “Or we will”
You smiled a bit too, knowing they would definitely stay with you there until you felt better.
Summary: Shayne needs to be cuddled after a scary movie!
A/N: My first little fic thing! I hope you all enjoy it! This is based off of Shayne’s Instagram story last night!
You and Shayne had just finished watching Hereditary, you were in the bathroom washing your face and about to brush your teeth when Shayne calls from your room,
“Hey Babe, I think something just moved in the closet!”
You laugh quietly to yourself. For as tough as he looks he’s a big baby, but you find it quite endearing. You wander into the bedroom to find Shayne sitting up leaning against the headboard of the bed with the comforter pulled to his chin.
“Hey (Y/N) can you check the closet?”
“What am I checking for?” You say with a sly smile that turns into a goofy grin because you know he wants you to check for monsters.
“Babe please just look in the closet.” He pleads not finding your obnoxious smile funny.
You do as he asks. You open the closet for and turn on the light. You look behind all the clothes and check to make sure nothing is hiding with the shoes. As you expected there was nothing. You stroll over to the bed and now only his bright blue eyes are peaking out form under the covers, his eyes pleading for you to get in bed with him.
“(Y/N) can I be little spoon tonight?” He asks with his mouth still hidden.
“Move over you big baby!”
You slide into bed an embrace him tightly. You hear him sigh gently and he relaxes in your arms. You wish him a goodnight and kiss the back of his neck. You never thought you’d be so in love with someone, but here you are.
Ask you out in the most flustered/shy way, which is surprising to you, given his confidence with most other things
Your first kiss would end in giggles from both of you, unable to be contained because of pure happiness
Once you guys are in a relationship, if you didn’t know them before, you HAD to be introduced to the Smosh gang
Shayne would be the ultimate flirt honestly
Especially when you two start actually dating
Bad pick-up lines
“Are you Bill Nye? Because I’ve got my ION you! Get it, Y/N?! Get it?!”
I feel like he wouldn’t be that much into PDA
But so into like hand-holding and cuddling and stuff
Like you’d sit on that one orange couch while not filming (you know which one I’m talking about) with your head resting on his shoulder, his arm around you, and your legs resting on the table in front of you
When saying “Hi” to each other, it would always warrant a small kiss, and every single time Mari goes “OOOOOOOOH”
He would send you stupid snapchats
With stupid filters
And stupid captions
Movie nights. Enough said.
I feel like Shayne has a bit of a temper sometimes, so, even though it wasn’t often, when you fight… you fight.
One time he knocked over a vase during a fight
But every time, if one of you notices the other crying, the fight ends immediately and there’s just guilt left
You can cry to him whenever
And he can cry to you whenever
YOU HAVE TO BE BESTIES WITH DAMIEN. LIKE. YOU HAVE TO.
Also, for some reason, you gotta be friends with Wes? Like Wes would force it
