♠: What's one thing you dislike about your Muse?
Hmmm... That’s a hard question. I’m one to fully immerse myself in a character when I’m into them, in a way that makes me love even their flaws. Like, even stuff I would hate in a real person actually fascinate me when applied to fiction. I love to just ponder about traits my muses have that are completely against my principles and just think “Why are you like that”.
Now, for Genji... I actually do not have much I would dislike about him if he was a real person. He used to be a real shithead, but that’s exactly what makes his transition from an unlikeable shithead daddy’s boy to an angsty mess desperately clingling to what little sense of self he still has to a calm, to the still somewhat insecure, but overall hopeful and heroic figure he is now, is what makes him so interesting.
Hold on I gotta reread that last sentence three times bc it got lenghty.
The canon material for OW is too sparse - and honestly I love this because it shows how much the staff cares for the death of the author mentality that makes all fanworks that much more unique - for me to actually dislike anything in Genji’s canon portrayal.
If anything I kinda wish we got where he got that condescending attitude toward some of his opponents in the game, it’s something I have yet to incorporate into my portrayal properly. “You are only human”, “Ningen nano”, all that... After all he’s been through I doubt his condition would give him that kind of attitude.
Hmmmm I do headcanon around this that this was something he said in his Overwatch days, to cope with how much he hated his new body, he pretended it made him superior in combat with all the enhancements he received. But I doubt that’s something he still says today that he’s much more modest.
