For safe keeping

i thought you were a dream once floating far above my mind, above the shivering, misty planet, above the game of humankind

you showed me that the universe is a gold and lovely thread -- a dream that you weaved into me -- that's what i carry in my head

and now i can be brave enough to admit i feared the world. before, this place was terrifying but now, it's nothing more

nothing more than a breath of space a sense of time that crawls across humanity's strange agenda: it's the greatest comedy of all

dreamed from this simple dust cloud your eyes, your hands, your face descended from the empty stars i've finally found my place

and here i am existing assuming nothing passes by -- in one minute, one second, already you've disappeared behind my eyes

and oh the moments that we've shared in what so scarcely i have known all my thoughts and memories appear only in a poem:

a glimmering smile, the smell of tea this music washing over me a soft summer rain a sleepy day a buddhist temple hidden far away beyond the eyes of frightened Man beyond his deft, destructive hands beyond a forest that you've walked with me lies what we've shared: our memory
