"He's here." Some names cause too much of an ache to speak. With the tears in her eyes, there's only one man she could be speaking of, though. It's just that she might not be crying for the reasons Bruce thinks. "He's alive."
Bruce closed his eyes, he knew who she meant. It felt like another dagger in his body, the cool blade of the knife digging deep, and creeping to the rest of his bones. He knew he told Diana he liked her because of the rope, but he meant for his confession not to be heard anytime soon. Alfred kept pushing him to say it sooner, but Bruce didn't know if Diana had moved on from Steve yet. It's one thing to sleep with someone, it's another to have someone else in their heart and there's no room for someone else.
Although, Barry's gone and left them for another universe, he couldn't help but think about him. Why he did what he did – endangering everyone and everything to save his mother. The aftermath is apparent here. Bruce has a whole family now. One that truly believes they've always been here, and had him as a father. The hardest person to face was Dick – to see him grown up and alive almost shook him to his core.
There are so many things he wants to say to Diana. How he's horrified that another Bruce would adopt children, and then they become vigilantes like him, but he understood once he spent time with them. They choose this life – in some form or another – and there was nothing he could do. Something he thinks the other Bruce would realize.
But he's focused on the news of Steve being alive right now, and it pains him to say that the darker part of himself is mad that the man has come back.
"So he's here? And you met him... what are you going to do?"
