I won't lie; it's been a tiny bit validating over the past few years to see my favourite season treated as a genuinely lovely thing, but online it often seems like the purpose of autumn is shopping, and that this feels exploitative of the impact the season has on us. Because even for those of us who love watching the leaves change, and find autumn a relief from summer humidity, there is an adjustment to be made when it's suddenly colder, darker and rainier.
So we're a bit vulnerable to cheering ourselves up by buying things, and I've been watching videos like this as a reminder that autumn lives not at the shops, but in the heart and under the trees...
