In all the books I’ve ever read Movies watched Stories told Songs sung I have never heard Or seen A man more loyal Than my best friend. So I stand by him. He has gotten me arrested Laughed at Shamed But never on purpose. So I stand by him. I have yelled Screamed Cussed Cursed At him for only breathing. My mental dragons biting at his heels for no reason but enjoyment. Yet he stood by me. When in handcuffs He was there. When forgotten by a woman He remembered me. When exiled from my community He stuck around. So I stand by him. If I had a sculptures hands I would immortalize him in marble. If I had the tongue of a musician I would immortalize him in song. If I had the money of a merchant I would build a tower in his honor. I have none of that. He still stands by me. All I have is the pen of a poet And the prayers of a priest. They are not enough.
