Spoilers for Suicide Squad #25!
So look who's back in Suicide Squad, and making boomerang puns! It's a bit of a bummer that Digger claims to have nowhere else to go -- whither the Rogues? -- but maybe this story takes place when the Rogues are all in Iron Heights. That's where they are in the Flash book right now, but the two series aren't necessarily concurrent. At any rate, he shows up at a timely moment to save Harley thanks to the wisdom of Katana and the powers of Enchantress.
I have to let you all know that I wrote up a nice long review and saved it, but my computer blue-screened and lost nearly all the data that had already been saved and now I'm really angry and not going to redo the whole thing over again. This isn't even the first time it's happened when I've written a review for this site. What's the point of saving often if it just disappears anyway? So here's the Cliffs Notes version of the previous review instead.
--This issue ends the long-running threat of the People, which has been a simmering threat through the entire book so far. Waller is freed from her metahuman possession, Direktor Karla is dead by his own hand, and Harley detonates the brain bombs of the other Suicide Squads around the world.
--The set-up for the next story arc involves the original Silver Age Suicide Squad, though it remains to be seen what that group's history will be like in the Rebirth era. Ostrander changed their history after Crisis, and it'll probably be even more different now.
--This was a pretty good issue, although I didn't like the way the plot with the multiple Squads around the world was wrapped up; having Harley kill them all instead of leaving them alive or having Waller kill them made sense, but is kind of cheap. However, it was good to see Digger back in goofy badass form (the taped grenades worked, which is all that matters) and I liked it. I'm glad his history with Hack wasn't simply forgotten, and it'll presumably still be a source of tension with Harley in the future, as it should be. He was handled well here.
