The way Taeheon and Junseo interact has changed so much, I want to know why so badly
What the hell happened between chapter 29 and chapter 41 that has yun taeheon like this...? Like hell between that time and now they have RINGS?? (Yes i know its part of the plan but those rings sure as hell werent cheap, and they also mustve had to find time to talk to each other based on the texts)
This whole segment of the chapter feels oddly casual compared to their other interactions, but perhaps thats me having faulty memory. After all, taeheon always addressed junseo with a degree of formality up until this chapter (i'd like you to pay attention to the fact that this is the next in-person interaction we get of them, after woo hyein called out that theyre "not that close" and "you dont trust him")
Theyre on first name basis now too by the way. This chapter just feels like a fever dream, i think. Taeheon is just so much more ... perceptive when it comes to Junseo now. He used to not notice when Junseo was overthinking like this, but now he catches onto it AND he snaps Junseo out of it.
Not only that but previously, it felt almost as if Yun Taeheon saw Junseo as a useful ally/asset to have connections with. Now it feels as if Yun Taeheons idea of what Junseo means to him is so much more... firm??? He knows what he wants from Junseo; he wants Junseo to bring out his potential, the one thats usually locked behind his weaponry issue. He doesn't care about anything else, he doesnt care about the unreasonable demands he has to meet in order to keep Junseo by his side
Its not just taeheon thats so much more comfortable around the other either. Although its less obvious with Junseo, since he's rarely seen giving a damn about how others perceive him, he actually does pay a little bit of attention to how characters like Han Jia treat him. Taeheon is the first person Junseo has ever been able to trust ever since he inherited his past life memories, aside from elizabeth.
Sometimes i wonder how painful that mustve been before he started trusting Taeheon, knowing that the only person you've been able to trust is the person you have literal control over. Is that really trust? Or do you just lack fear because you have control over whether or not they get to spread this information? How did he feel when he realized that the rental pay didn't work on Taeheon?
Okay, so Shin Junseo is clearly proud of and fully confident in his skills. He knows he’s got the best weapons in the business. But- the past timeline.
SJS had not met Yun Taeheon in the past timeline, meaning YTH had no reason to seek him out. I mean, if he did the YTH of then could have easily made a deal with SJS’s guild of the time.
Which also makes the point that the source of SJS’s power isn’t actually power- it’s Knowledge. Experience. Tips and Tricks. The corrupted power in this timeline is new to him, and he is still just a D rank in mana.
That doesn’t make it cheaper or less! He earned every big of his power! He currently knows things no one else knows! He is the best and, by virtue of his extra years of experience, will probably remain the best for, at least, years to come. But when he was learning these tricks, when he was gaining his knowledge, every other weapon creator in the world could have been doing the same thing. Probably some weapon creators with more power, higher rank, better resources, and more time to learn WERE doing the same thing. Despite knowing he’s amazing, even then, he also knew he wasn’t the Best Weapon Creator in the past timeline. (I’m willing to bet he was the Best Weapon Creator COMBATANT, though)
And, like, the little of the future we know actually does show SJS’s guild lasting pretty long to the end, with SJS himself apparently their last survivor (twice now for him, ouch), and it did apparently inform him of his worth and the value of his ability, but we don’t know if he specifically had any fame or renown for his skills.
Anyway, long winded way to say, do you ever think he gets a little worried about when the day comes where all the future weapon creators he KNOWS have more power than him learn the Knowledge trick? Even knowing his worth, believing in his skill and ability, having confidence in his weapons, knowing it’s not his most immediate priority, Does he ever get, just a little, worried about if YTH, specifically, will no longer see him as so valuable?
(Meanwhile, YTH could not care less if an S-rank in mana weapon creator with the same amount of experience SJS has miraculously popped up in front of him, he wants this one pls and thank you)
Happier thought: part of the reason SJS didn’t personally meet the YTH of his old timeline is bc the, like, three times the man tried to get in contact SJS’s guild closed ranks around him like a pack of angry chihuahuas bc that’s THEIR anti-social weapon creator, and he doesn’t want to talk to you thankyouverymuch!
WHATS UP WEAPON CREATOR FANDOM (me and like 3 other people) IT IS I!!! THE YUN TAEHEON BULLY (i can't help it he's just so bullyable)
here. have something i am working on but unlikely to finish.
Mana Potions
So I recently reread Weapon Creator (the webtoon version, because I don't know where you guys are getting up to ep 29 at) for characterization notes for my fic, and in ep 10 when they're fighting Arachne, SJS drinks a mana potion and thinks about how drinking more than one a day could lead to addiction.
Things are rarely mentioned when they're not in some way important, and it could just be world building for consequences of magic the same way weapons and gear break, but what if it's not?
There's a couple ways I can think for this to go. SJS drinks too many mana potions (unlikely now that he can get mana gear through his contract w YTH, who'll probably just gift smth to him), or, they uncover some sort of black market knock-off potion scheme or smth. SJS isn't the only low-rank around, and as unclear as the timeline is to how long ago the gates appeared, when did they find out the mana potions are addicting?
Actually, do they know this yet, or is this SJS's future knowledge talking?
I don't know, the thought's maybe half-formed, but I think there might be something there.
au thought before I go to bed - weapon creator role reversal Shin Junseo as guild leader and Yun Taeheon as the regressor but their powers stay the same
Binged the translated Weapon Creator chapters, and all I've retained is that Yun Taeheon has fantasy ED and Shin Junseo is his viagra dealer
hi hello do you have a moment to think about a webcomic
