Proverbs 31 woman study for today! “She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night.” Proverbs 31:18 NKJV The first thing I wanted to know when I read this verse was how did the Proverbs 31 woman perceive that her merchandise. I found my answer in the root of the word in Hebrew. The root word "taam" means to taste. We see the same root word used in: “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalms 34:8 NKJV We already know she planted a vineyard to provide drink and food for her family and to provide for the drink sacrifices. Now she is Tasting the fruits of her labor to make sure they are good! I don't know about you but this gets me excited! Then we go to bed the part about the Lamp where it states that her lamp doesn't go out at night. This goes back to her getting up while it is dark to prepare food for her family... and historically lamps were lit all night as a form of comfort (similar to night lights now, for health and wellness. Lamps where used in the temple for cleansing and to represent the light of God. They were also symbolic of God's goodness, grace, wisdom, guidance, and love. It was so important in those days to have your lamp on. It also showed other's that you were alive. I don't have an oil lamp like in the Bible but I do have an oil diffuser with a light on it that I put on at night sometimes. I may do this more often now after studying this verse! #proverbs31woman #proverbs31 #shineHislight #essentialoils #faithandfitness #buildingahealthylivingtemple #bahltwellness2017 #tasteandsee #lamp
