When two evenly-matched opponents' attacks do this, you should make sure to clear the area.
It feels kinda wrong that they introduced Master Gundam in the preview of episode 13; I feel like that reveal should've been kept to the actual episode. But I am not a showrunner.
Really cool coloring on the ball, but it doesn't have the purple light that we'll come to know and love from the "Darkness" line of attacks.
The Shining Gundam in Super Mode loses its Super Mode coloration in this sequence. Probably just a coloring error; the difference probably wouldn't've been visible on lower-resolution TVs of the time.
I wonder if people called it out during the laserdisc release.
The Shining Finger effect here is cool, but it also looks like the partially-repaired Pharaoh Gundam IV's head has exposed a brain.

Normally, in sequences like this vertical pan, the Shining Finger hand effect extinguishes by the end of the pan. In this scene, it didn't.
The face mask did close, however.
Here, Shining Gundam's Shining Finger is used to pierce the Rose Screamer attack. How lewd that sounds.
The Shining Finger and Screamer weren't on different layers, so positioning the frames for this stitch was relatively easy. The main problem was the flashing lighting. The easiest way to defeat that was through a combination of "Darken Only" and "Lighten Only" blend modes, and layer masks with gradients to blend the edges of the frames together. This is most visible at the top of the image, where the whited-out final cel is blended out in the area of the Shining Finger, to ensure that we get that in all its color.

Started watching G Gundam. Was told it was like Dragon Ball with Gundams, and like… yeah that’s accurate. It’s so unserious but also peak fiction!! I <3 90s/Toonami era Gundam!!
