Ship graveyard, Port of Montevideo, Uruguay: In the last 30 years, the port of Montevideo was transformed into a ship graveyard. Some 50 vessels, most of them fishing, transformed part of the port area into an island of iron, with rusty hulls, radio and radar antennas, turrets, etc. Many of these ships are listed on the seabed, while others barely float... The Port of Montevideo is located in the northern part of the Old City of Montevideo, Uruguay. Wikipedia
“My gods, what is that thing?!”
“Not the most elegant design, I know. A long-hauler for bearing grave tidings.”
“Where’d you find a monster like that?”
“Lots of interesting things in the old lunar shipyards.”
“You mean the ship graveyard? You’re flying a haunted jumpship?”
“I’d hardly call it haunted... though I confess I had to remove a skeleton from the cockpit.”
“...”
“Oh, wipe that look off your face, I’m kidding. There were no skeletons. Damn thing wasn’t even assembled. Found a partial schematic for the class a while back, tracked it down to the ruined shipyard, and found enough components to piece one together.”
“How long ago was this?”
“A fair while.”
“So you’ve been trekking to and from the Moon’s haunted shipyard for a while and you kept it from us?”
“Kept it from you? Since when am I obliged to keep you apprised of my every movement?”
“Since whenever it was you decided to set foot in the lunar ship graveyard and track ghosts around wherever you went afterward.”
“Track ghosts? What, you think malevolent spirits literally stuck to my boots?”
“I think going to that place was a mistake, and this wide-ass ship you... you... exhumed from there is at best inauspicious, and at worst, cursed.”
“Well. That’ll teach me to invite you to a christening.”
