This is it. I've been rumbling about Maul ships since I started this blog, it's about time I make my top list of them. This is very much an invite to all my moots who also love Maul ships, and also tell me what they think of my list.

So to the top four!

(It's was gonna be a top three but I couldn't let go of one specific one.)

4. CrossSith - Crosshair X Darth Maul.

My first ever Maul X Clone ship that I read a story from. The first time I actually read them interacting was in a ObiMaul story that they had no actual romance, but that Maul basically acted like a guide for Crosshair in the epilogue.

Two grumpy old men making their way through the galaxy and navigating the complicated feeling the empire causes them, it's the potential and the opportunity on the story itself. Genuinely such an interesting dynamic and just beautiful as well.

Also, the fanart is glorious. You know which one I'm talking about.

I think about a lot of songs for them, one of them is "Chemistry" by Gigi Perez but I still can't choose one specifically, leave a suggestion.

3. FoxMaul - Commander Fox X Darth Maul.

Oh FoxMaul, you seem so weird at first but gets better and better the more I think about you.

It's fun, it's chaotic, it's soul shattering, it's the best of both their characters mixed together. For Fox, if you think about his more fanon version you can think about how unhinged he would be in love and what a fun story would create. For his more Canon personality, you can see him slowly starting to let go of the republic and finding himself outside of just being a commander by his relationship with Maul.

And to see Maul, someone that at a certain point, gets used to losing everything, having someone so dedicated and loyal as Fox is, is simply beautiful.

For me personally, they're totally "It will come back" from Hozier.

2. Mango - Jango Fett X Darth Maul.

Am I the only person making content for it, yes I am. Am I gonna stop? No, I will never.

I cannot make a single post to explain every way in which they mess to me. The tragedy, the fact that if you think about it in a canon compliant way, they could have been together before the TPM, and after that, Jango would have thought Maul was dead for years just to die right before he came back. Maul would have been thrown back into a galaxy full of the faces of the love he just lost. Of both passing the rest of their lifes mourning the other.

The sweetness, of Maul having someone look at him for who he is for once, of Jango chosing to trust and open up for the first time in so long, of these two violent and lost man finding and loving eachother more than anyone else can.

The real connection there is between them in canon, the Sith X Mandalorian dynamic, the fanart I can't make but can imagine easily in my mind, the way they could both bring the worst ot the best of the other.

Both of my favorite characters, it's no surprise I love them together so much. The fact their son would be my third favorite character helps a lot.

I have more than just one Playlist for them, but recently in a story I put "Nosso primeiro Beijo" (Our First Kiss) By Gloria Groove, which I recommend to anyone who likes romantic songs. Other song that for me its their song is "Anjos" (Angels) by Venere Vai Venus, which is not a suggestion. Go hear it. Put it on Spotify and see the translation. I guarantee that it will become one of the top songs you think about whenever you hear the words "yearning songs."

1. ObiMaul - Obi-Wan Kenobi X Darth Maul.

A surprise to a total of zero people. It's them, they're the OG. The Jedi X Sith ship. Red and Blue trope. Enemies to lovers. Enemies AND lovers if you prefer. The narrative foils. The top Maul ship and top three Obi-Wan ship. They changes eachother life so much in the story that you can't have one whitout the other.

There's really not much I can say about them that hasn't already been said here on Tumblr or written in their 868 fics on Ao3. Just their platonic tag is almost 400 fics. It's them, there's really no need for explanation.

Also have countless songs for them, but when I made an ask about it, "We Never Dated" By Sombr won. But I love them with "Hate Me" By Nico Collins.

when double exposure came out, i ask for your thoughts+review on it. now that i see that you’re playing through reunion, id love to see your thoughts on this and how you feel about double exposure in hindsight! :))

Thanks for this! My partner and I finished Reunion recently, so I'll try not to be too spoilery for anyone who hasn't played it yet (at least beyond stuff from early game and the announcement materials). My first thought: I enjoyed it a lot more than I'd expected. My partner did, too.

The usual disclaimers: no, it'll never be my favorite LiS game (but it'll also never be my least favorite; sorry LiS2). It's not perfect, there are tons of little things that bug the shit out of me (WHY does Chloe have the storm tattoo even though in this fused universe the storm didn't happen?), and I'd definitely have approached many things completely different if it'd been in my power to do so.

But having said all that, I actually really liked it. Many (but not all) of my favorite characters from DE returned, and I really enjoyed getting to hang out with Moses in particular more. I dig grown up Chloe and thought she and Max played off each other really nicely. The gameplay was more enjoyable than in DE, the crunched timeline of 'need to fix this problem within this specific weekend' worked well, and I thought the story was good and the mystery compelling.

There are arguments for why it wasn't the best idea to return to Max and Chloe's stories, and those are completely valid. But D9 made the decision to go back and continue that story with DE and Reunion, and overall I think they did a pretty good job. They made some great characters in both games (Moses, Amanda, Safi, Diamond, Gwen, etc), created an interesting environment in Caledon, and did - in my opinion - a really solid job with aging up Max and Chloe.

It still bugs the shit out of me that Max being into horror movies and not into anime has been canonized, since I always read her as having the opposite opinions in LiS1, but otherwise I think this is a very plausible and believable version of how Max might grow up after LiS1.

And same with Chloe; this version of Chloe makes sense to me (especially in a world where she didn't lose Joyce and her whole hometown to a storm). She's matured since her teen years, but she hasn't lost her essence. She's still a rule-breaker, still rough around the edges, still has a wicked sense of humor, but she's also more responsible and more secure in herself.

Some minor complaints about Reunion: The game should have a full on photo mode; it's ridiculous that you can only save photos if you took a picture of what the game wanted you to. Max should've at least looked up the socials for the friends she lost 11 years ago and found out were suddenly resurrected; we literally got more news about former Arcadia Bay residents from DE when almost everyone was dead. Chloe's backtalk ability should've been used more; if you're going to bring that mechanic back, it should get used more than a couple of times. And most importantly: why the fuck is there so little Diamond in this game? I legit thought she was going to be the protagonist of the next game after DE, and instead she's got, like, a tiny handful of voice lines which are very easily missable.

In conclusion: Reunion isn't perfect, but it's the game we got, and I enjoyed it. I'll play it again, and I'll enjoy it again.

As far as Double Exposure goes... I still think it was an okay game. It wasn't everything I wanted it to be, and it's not as good as Reunion, but it's still better than LiS2. The timeline hopping gameplay mechanic wasn't as much fun as rewinding time, and it felt fairly hand-holdy/on rails. But it was pretty, the story had some genuine "oh shit!" moments for me, and it introduced some characters and locations I really enjoy. The bonus cat content was way too expensive for how little content there actually was. And the ending was... kind of a miss, IMO. It felt like it was setting up a specific direction (X-Men, basically) for the continuing story, which felt kind of ridiculous and then was also essentially completely dropped in Reunion. I don't know, for me, if you're going to make that leap into "but what if Max was Professor X and Safi was Magneto" territory, then you might as well actually follow through with it. But on the other hand, I think I liked Reunion better than where I expected the series to go next. So... *shrug*

12 SethKate Headcanons Fanfic Gave to Me (+ fic recs)

Post-series From Dusk Till Dawn fanfic gives SethKate shippers even more to scream about, because of course it does. Writers in the fandom, unwilling to leave the pair’s ending up to interpretation, have published some truly spectacular continuations of and twists on Seth and Kate’s story. Along the way, these creators have established some pretty solid and widely adopted pieces of SethKate fanon.

As someone who’s recently binge-read dozens of fics on AO3, I can attest to how easily they can be accepted as fact. (Like, seriously, try to change my mind.)

1. Seth’s urge to protect Kate doesn’t disappear after Matanzas–if anything, it grows stronger.

2. He knows full well that he doesn’t deserve Kate, but Seth wants to give her the world anyway. She has him wrapped around her finger, and absolutely everyone understands this, including him.
