Takashi and Ryou Shirogane are twins.

goes by the nicknames "Shiro" and "Kuro" because of the white and black cat footie pajamas they wore when they were little and the names stuck.

They share almost everything with each other... Even a boyfriend.

This happens in highschool--

It started when Lance confessed to Shiro, who likes Lance but is aware of his brother's feelings towards the other, painfully turns him down.

Kuro overhears the confession and confronts his brother about it - because he was not blind and can see that Shiro liked Lance as well.

The 2 of them talk about it, that is if Lance was okay with it - the both of them can date him... Or he can date both of them.

The Shirogane twins then find a sad and mopey Lance sitting by himself by the bleachers and tell him of their proposal.

Lance is unsure about it at first... But they can try it out and they can end it if things start to get complicated.

like omg the heartbreaking intense potential of a love triangle w a guy and his clone, hello???? But also goodbye because I can't bear to think of Lance choosing and breaking one of their hearts and his own hhhhh, like they split to become distinct individuals but they were the same man once, which is a weird place to be, especially when you were in love with someone before u split, and also kind of a weird place to be as the partner bc u fell in love when he was one, and now he's the same guy u fell in love with following 2 different paths........ Like it's hard to explain bc I don't wanna make it seem like they're one entity or the same Shiro w the exact same thoughts and temperament, but that's due to living differently by physical necessity, he literally is two Shiro's, y'know???

Like usually in fic it's just that Kuron fell in love with Lance on his own, with feelings only developing after he arrived. But what if the seed for those feelings was already THERE u know, and if u fall for someone in one 'existence' who's to say u might not do it again in another one, even if on accident? After all, you clearly like them.... But wait no, he's ur clone, your clone likes him, not YOU!!

I genuinely didn't even mean to extrapolate on this so I'm rly just sighing at myself right now. Because that has to be a very specific brand of jealousy that grows, and with someone already struggling with their sense of self like Shiro, there might even be some varying layers of self loathing piled right on top. Seeing something you want but can't have because another you has it... Is this version of you that you are living in more flawed than the other? Always your own worst enemy.

Of course I like to think they become friends, and understand each other on a level that others obviously couldn't. Shiro has been thru like, all of the worst things a man can go thru, and who better to understand the nuances to their pain and suffering, to help them both re-establish a baseline and find their own identity, than each other? But man, talk about getting stuck in your own head...

That's where Lance comes in.

Shiro and Kuron (Ryou? Giro?) spend a lot of time together, they eventually start to become a little bit isolated, but Lance doesn't let it stay that way. He'll sit himself firmly in between them during one of their Brooding Sessions (TM) and he doesn't get back up until there is a smile on both of their faces.

Much like Atlas, both Shiro and Kuron always seem to be carrying the world on their shoulders, but they are not their burdens. Lance wants to lighten their load, because they have always been so overwhelmingly supportive and positive and optimistic for everyone in the face of everything. Anyone can see that underneath it all they both just want to be happy, to have fulfillment, and of course anyone on the team would do anything for them, but one wonderful thing Lance will do is simply be there. They talk about just how grateful they are when he's gone.

Feelings grow but we all know it's a complicated mess. Maybe Shiro and Kuron are out watching the stars one evening, and they don't look at each other, but quietly in the night one of them breaches the topic. I like Lance. We like Lance. They are falling hard and fast, side by side.

And Lance knows his heart is growing so weak for both of them but how can he choose? He knows they're different, but he likes them both in a lot of the same ways, for a lot of the same reasons. And because of THAT, he loves all of their differences even more, every little quirk and detail that sets them apart, and he knows them so well.

The whole thing is a minefield that they carefully pick their way thru, avoiding the tension growing between them all until something inevitably explodes.

Idk what might do it and that kills me lmao, I'd need more time to think of the like Climax of this whole scenario but it's gotta be dramatic.

Maybe a cliche where Lance gets caught in between them, and all three of them feel their heart rates spike and don't wanna let go. Ducking into a small space for cover on a mission, or getting locked in when they trip an alarm in a little secure room and having to wait for rescue... 🤔🤔👀👀👀

Or maybe they have a fight, and the truth comes tumbling out. Like, tension HAS cropped up between the Shiroganes, and things have been uncomfortable between the three of them because it's not like Lance doesn't notice that they're so out of sync. And Lance maybe makes some offhand comment, and Kuron says something passive aggressive that implies that Lance would prefer the 'real' Shiro for whatever it was, because the passive aggression has been majorly On The Rise between the two of them, and all at once the tension in the air just breaks.

How could he say that? How could he even think that? Why are you both being so unbearable???

I live and breathe for dramatic fights that come crashing to a halt with a passionate confession. They're all bickering, but Shiro and Kuron quickly turn on each other, and they're just airing out all of the bad energy that has been simmering between them. Lance can't stand to see them hurling these things at each other, so he opens his mouth, takes a deep breath, and says the only thing he can think to say just then.

He loves both of them!! He tells them to stop, and they listen. Lance clearly confided in Shiro, has gone to talk things thru with him before, and shared things with Kuron in confidence, so it's all too easy to spill his guts about every confused, agonizing thought he's been turning around in his head for days. Once he gets started, it's hard to stop, because for once he hasn't told anyone anything about this and he's been holding it all so tightly inside. He's trying to explain that he's in love with both of them, not two vessels with Shiro's face, but Ryou and Takashi. He's getting worked up trying to apologize for that when they rush forward to be on either side of him, because they simply aren't having it.

There's no more pretense. They don't want bad feelings between them, they only want Lance. All Lance wants is to love them, he doesn't want to be another thing that hurts, and his heart is big enough for both of them. So it's their turn to apologize, and press careful, such very careful kisses to his hair as they wrap him up on their arms and promise that they will all figure it out.

Or maaaybe they have to overnight a mission and they get snowed in and there's ONLY ONE BED..... 😩🤞

Anyway YES FUCK they figure it out and they're very in love and happy because LANCE HAS TWO HANDS...!!! I rly rly kept thinking I'd said enough but all at once this concept has struck a chord with me i guess lmao HELP I'm WEAK....
