Since its mer may i finally got around to drawing the bstory/other half of my marine au. So after Lance gets kidnapped by poachers to be sold as an exotic pet, Hunk is of course desperate to find him. But Hunk is also cautious and knows trying to talk to random humans who dont speak mer language will just get him caught as well so instead he eavesdrops under docs and tries to decifer english to try to find out where lance has been taken. Cut to College kid Conspiracy couple Keith and Pidge who are hanging out at a small secluded beach with one rundown dock. These two are big fans of cryptids and were ecstatic about the discovery of real mer people when it happened. They were in highschool at the time and upon reaching college joined several classes, clubs and projects dedicated to studying mers. Most notably a lesser known initiative dedicated to deciphering mer language, mostly being conducted at the Voltron aquarium where theyre interning. Long story short Hunk hears pidge saying a few mer words while hiding under the dock and reveals himself to the two in an act of desperation. Although the three only have a rudimentary understanding of eachothers languages they find more ways to communicate. And soonenough Pidge and Keith become Hunks eyes and ears on land and investigate to find out where lance has bedn taken as well as trying to gather evidence on the mer trafficking ring that took him. Also somewhere along the line they kiss
