Well, actually, Fiona is just as much of a main character as Shrek. You might think what I've said is obvious, but in the entire culture surrounding this film, I haven't noticed that audiences even recognize her as a character.

All four films, even the third one, seem to ultimately revolve around Fiona, her family, or those connected to her. It's true that Shrek is the character who makes all these decisions that permanently alter the course of history, but he makes these changes in HER story.
