STATUS: watched from afar

WOW OKAY KAHORI THOUGH.... 

Elijah only ever saw her at trials, and what he saw wasn't the... best of Kahori. By the time the games connected, a lot of shit had already happened, and it changed the both of them. Since he was busy lying on the ground half dead during Koyomi's trial, he first saw her only at Nanoka's trial so... the only thing Elijah ever saw Kahori as was sad, hurting and bitter. 

And it kind of hurt him? ?? 

He watched her a bit, not too much. There was too much else going on for him to focus but he still took notice of her. 

And god did he want to help her, or at least try. 

That poor girl lost someone so incredibly close to her, and Elijah knew how that felt, even though he had experienced it from the other way around. She needed someone to be there for her. She needed someone to care, and not just fuel her bitterness. 

But then she chose to leave them, and that hurt even more. 

I don't know if Elijah would try talking to her once he was revived??? Unfortunately, probably not, since after the game he runs off to start his own little peaceful movement to try and rekindle people's hope in the goodness of humanity, and moves in with Ume/Riko/Alphonse but... he would still think about her sometimes, and hope she had managed to find love again!!!

Kiseki's opinion of Kahori is... a little complicated.

She reminds him very strongly of his sister, Akai, who is... a 6 foot tall playwright. Who looks nothing like Kahori.

Kahori reminds him more of Akai in her mannerisms, though- Kiseki thinks of Akai as a softspoken person who likes being in-the-know, and who is bold when she needs to be, and those are also the traits he associates most strongly with Kahori, so...

As for a little information on Akai, she was the older sister and cared quite a lot for Kiseki... Even if he scared the shit out of her. Every nice thing she did for him, he generally just turned around and (figuratively) spit in her face. She, eventually, got into a really prestigious writing school and left home, so the two didn't really see much of each other for a while... Kiseki even thought she hated him and didn't want anything to do with him until he got a package from her shortly before he left for Hope's Peak. I think Kahori was actually one of the few people who saw it. Remember the jacket and gloves with the note? :0

So I guess Kiseki is kind of trying to make up for what he did to Akai with Kahori... Even though that's probably not the best way of going about it.

Ok that kind of took a weird turn from Kiseki's opinion of Kahori,  so I'll get back on topic... Kiseki thinks of Kahori as a very familiar person he'd like to get to know better. Someone he should try to be a better person for.

I’m so sad that book buddies never happened, oh my god.

Tamaki was really excited when they found out about Kahori’s title! Shinji, their fellow literary talent back in Tartarus had recently died, so they needed someone new to talk books with. And oh man, does Tamaki love editors, especially skilled ones. They’re a literary critic who burns through several books in the space of a week, so you better believe that they’ve seen what books that don’t have editors or have unskilled editors look like. You need a decent editor to have any hope of turning out a decent book - Tamaki strongly believes that and wouldn’t have been surprised if Kahori had edited some of the better books they’d gone through. So yeah, it was another situation like Shinji - ‘I really don’t know you that well, but I respect your talent greatly, so I respect you and want to get to know you by default’.

Too bad that Kahori broke so badly after Nanoka’s death, because Tamaki immediately went ‘Wow, she’s a complete fucking wreck, and I am so not touching that’. They’ve seen tiny girls flipping out before - they’re friends with Minako, after all - but that was a whole other level of flipping the hell out, and they just… decided she’d be more trouble than she was worth, editor or not. Also, their only exchanges were A) during the school trials and B) were fairly negative in nature, considering she flipped their shit on them and all, so… yeah, they just gave up on the idea of book buddies altogether and went on their merry way.

And then she was one of the people who was planning on leaving and not staying behind, so… Tamaki is bitter against everyone who wanted to leave because they’re goddamn selfish and myopic. And then they probably proceeded to not even think much of Kahori after that because in the end, they never had a chance to so much as talk to her and mostly had negative impressions of her, and RIP book buddies, ‘twas over before it even began.

KAHORI...

Kahori was one of the few people to actually try to talk to Takumi before he died, on the Bench post-trial 3

They never ACTUALLY talked, Takumi just kind of... sat there, whoops

And then Takumi died

After that, he kind of noticed Kahori being broken down

And honestly he couldn't really feel anything for her, he was mostly just like "oh hey there's that kid WOW what happened to her"

And that probably continued into endgame

Despite death, despite the groveling, despite the unending cycle of self-loathing Shun goes through for the remaining three months between life and near-death--his feelings for Kahori are the most complicated of all. He doesn't not feel indifferent to her, he doesn't not pity her, and of course, he despises her. From the very beginning, he knew that Kahori was a normal girl--somewhat weak, somewhat fragile but understanding and kind. Similar to Minako. However, what he begun to hate, even before Nanoka had been killed, or Kikuyo had been executed, was that she'd given into the despair as well.

Because unlike Minako, unlike most of others, she had begun to cripple herself emotionally and eventually stared at the world with hard eyes, despite the tears. Shun had never made good on his promise, he's never been there for much but he expected more from her. He had no right to say something like that but it didn't stop him from feeling it. So despite their altercation aside, Shun sees Kahori as true weakness. Maybe not so much physically now, but she's weak.

And he hates how he feels almost sorry for her,

Kahori remained a mystery to Kosuke for most of the game, due to their lack of interaction. His heart went out to her at the death of Nanoka in week 7, but he was also conflicted over the impending death of Kikuyo when the killer was finally revealed, and thus couldn’t decide whether to be angry at Kahori for attacking Kikuyo or understanding in her grief.

However, Kahori continued to be cold and distant to the rest of the class; since Kosuke was currently working through his own emotional issues, he never found the time to reach out to Kahori and try to help her, whether or not she would accept it.

If Kahori has killed Kosuke...? Well, he would have been bitter for a period of time, but ultimately would probably forgive her (or any killer for that matter) on the account of him not having the self-worth to think himself worth living to the end of the game.

Wakana barely had the chance... to speak to Kahori other than the time she got rekt, but she still... is happy she survived.

"...it's over. This hell, all of this... You don't have to fight anymore."

By the time Wakana and everyone showed up in Gaia, Kahori was already hurt as hell, and even Wakana could see shit wasn't right. She felt... somewhat bad. That it was her fault this girl who she'd had always seen as normal... had ended up in despair.

She would take a hundred slams with a staff... if it would mean that Kahori wouldn't have to be angry anymore, if it meant she wouldn't hurt anyone else... and be left having to deal with that.

Hidoiko turns around and looks down at Kahori, blinking a few times.

"Oh? Oh, uh, sure. Lead the w-way."

Despite telling the small girl to lead, by the time he's finished speaking, he's already got his keycard out and is heading in the direction of the locker rooms. God damn it, Hidoiko.
