Strattland — such a devastating ship with such angst potential. When I think about it too long On the Nature of Daylight by Max Richter starts playing in my head.
I made this in twenty minutes, it came to me in a vision pls enjoy

posts where i talk about the score in supernatural (they are legion and filled with complaints)
so i mean, it almost feels like cheating, using on the nature of daylight. i've read things where people say it's way overused (probably not wrong) and to stop using it. but it's incredibly effective and evocative. i also took the liberty of putting all of these moments together when in reality of the episode, they were intercut with what bs castiel was up to, which also sucks the life out of the moment, in my opinion.
anyway, i consistently can identify episodes gruska was the composer on (as opposed to lennertz) because i just don't like the score, viscerally. often eyeroll inducing. in the original, for the death scene it uses the mushy music theme, of which i've documented fairly extensively once i noticed it originally (it goes back to i think 2x01) and i don't particularly like it or hate it but i do dislike this woodwind (??) variation which gives it sort of a militaristic feel to me?? especially don't like it in this moment.
and just for kicks, because either they had some snafu with lighting or they greenscreen'd part of it, the warehouse dying moments business looks completely incongruous to the background so on the modified music clip i tried to get them to blend a little better by changing the lighting etc.

Max Richter: Path 3 / Whose Name Is Written On Water (Pt. 1 / Faded).
