Canonically, Jane & Lonnie are the best options for Ben

No offense meant to Bal fans but starting a relationship with a love spell is not the healthiest start and I feel it's what led to a lot of Mal's insecurities in D2 because Ben didn't fall for her naturally in her eyes since it was orchestrated. However, I do feel because Ben was drawn to Mal even in D1 before the love spell, his type is outgoing and confident girls who can hold their own and have a good sense of humour.

I feel Lonnie really fits this description to a T. She's outgoing, confident and generally lighthearted (some even call her too lighthearted because she was happy giggling in D2) when Jay and Carlos were forced to let her come but however she cared about Ben's life enough to not stay behind even if some might argue she didn't understand the severity of the situation, being Mulan's daughter, I think she liked just being able to do something to help Ben and help him out. But Lonnie is what Ben needs in a relationship. Someone whose willing to stand beside him yet also give him a place to relax when he comes home. Some might say Lonnie is too proactive for Ben and might not be able to help him relax because she's outgoing and lighthearted, maybe even impatient but I do want to point out, she likes to bake and is good at it. Baking requires patience at the very least. I would know - I don't have the patience for it.

However, another girl would also be good for Ben. Yes, I'm talking about Jane. I know she's canonically with Carlos and she started off kind of objectifying Ben with Audrey in D1 but the chemistry in D2 and D3 is amazing. Jane is super respectful of Ben in even their little interactions. How often have we had a character ask Ben what he prefers? And how often has he actually given his preferences? I'm trying to think if he's done this with Mal even but he kind of gives into her even regarding his own dreams with the Isle kids but with Jane, he never even says anything like "you can pick what you want, I'm ok with it" or "what do you recommend?" like Mal does. He's comfortable enough to express himself with her - hence why I also feel if she ever objectified him, he'd tell her straight out and they'd talk about it. Also, Jane was the only one to trust he wasn't a cheater - that's how close they were and she took action immediately when Mal was leaving Ben in D2 - once again his girlfriend does not trust him and proved his innocence to everyone.

D3 is where it really gets obvious and you have to wonder if the writers were on something because there is so much romantic subtext between Ben and Jane in this movie. Ok so how many people remember Beauty and the Beast? The Beast was hurt, near death and Belle confessing that she loved him broke the curse. It was loving Belle and having that love returned that broke the curse. Yet, in D3, Mal's love doesn't break Ben's curse. Jane does. This is the girl who arguably did not even see Ben as a human outside of his title at first (much like Belle saw Beast as nothing more than a monster?) ended up returning Ben's humanity to him much like Belle did with Beast. Ben/Jane or Ben/Lonnie should have been canon endgame.

it helped me keep drawing, it helped me get interested in ocs, + most of all without it i woulda never met duck (AKA @ask-dat-shy-solly)

i couldntve imagined what this blog would bring when i first started it….i couldvntve imagined still drawin dorky 3 years later, how much i’ve improved…..

i know most of you arent around anymore, and, after 3+ years, no one can blame you, certainly not me….but if anyone is still here….thank you. thank you so much. thank you for your support, thank you for your interest, just….thank you so much.

i dont know if or when i’ll come back. i might keep up my valentines tradition, might not. i’m still around, my art blog’ll always be @thedorkychicken….i dont draw the dorks too often these days, but lord knows they rule a huge portion of my heart + i owe so much to them

Ben x Jane (Descendants trilogy)

This ship needs to be considered!!

Like I know it has 5 fanfics on AO3 so I'm not a complete pioneer but it does not even exist on Tumblr.

Hear me out:

When everyone turned on Ben in D2, Jane was the one who had complete faith that Ben had not cheated on Mal and even was the main one to prove his innocence (and if it's true that Jane wasn't in Did I Mention in D1 - I looked I couldn't find her so if she was there, someone comment below - but if she wasn't, she might have not believed Ben cheated on Audrey but been too timid to speak up). In D3, they have a lot of moments - Jane was the one to heal Ben from Audrey's curse and then the moment after that?

Ben is someone who puts up with a lot and doesn't ask things from anyone. There was a moment in D3 where Jane's like "you need more water" and splashes him and he's like "please stop" and she immediately does. I know its tiny and not a huuuuge deal but I like someone actually listening to his request because no one ever does that for him.

And then when they reunite with the others and Ben is sad when Audrey is brought up, he turns to Jane asking where fairy godmother is, we could really use her right now. Ben rarely shows vulnerability even around Mal so the fact that he shows it around Jane is huge. But the biggest reason to ship them? They have a very tender relationship with one another.

Ben/Lonnie or Ben/Jane?

Ok, so a little poll for you guys!! I personally prefer Ben x Jane because as my friend pointed out, mean comment that Ben never heard over Lonnie believing Ben was a cheater, I'm choosing the mean comment girl Jane but who do you all choose?
