I was going to make Shy’s last Spirit a thunder chicken since she is very fearful of both lighting and chickens. (Chickens were more of an after affect of living at Dulcedomum)
But of course that would mean a fire element chicken and that just wouldn’t fly. Same with snail, which would have been my second choice (that was actually my first choice of spirit for Shy before Aze was revised as a frog)
One of her spirits is going to be an earthworm, but that will probably be reserved for her second, water spirit.
Honestly I just wanted Shy to deal with her fear in the worst way possible- by having to learn to wield it.
You see, Shy’s father, Ephraim has a marijuana garden (and other herbal plants) out in his backyard - being a part of his religion and all. When Shy was born, the garden started to flourish and Henley was… a little disappointed about the earth element, but happy for the clue that her daughter would be something more. Ephraim noticed as well, and noticed even more after he and Henley divorced and the garden seemed to lose a bit of it’s ‘glow’, getting it back only when Shy came back to stay at his house.
He thought it was just good luck and his daughter’s green thumb, obviously not noticing the glowing brown orb floating through when Shy came around.
Nadeem’s (Shy’s older brother) birthday is sometime in September. He’s a Virgo.
He misses his little sister dearly and fiercely, almost as much as their father. He took matters into his own hands in addressing Henley about Shy’s whereabouts, albeit after his father confronted Henley first and got nothing out of it but a headache. Henley was much more honest and open with Nadeem, knowing the boy was better able to handle the information. She still withheld the part about magic and the Redstones, instead saying her family was high profile and on the run. Thus she had to send Shy away to where should would be safer, with family better trained to protect her. And alone, Henley would be better able to protect herself.
Nadeem, being highly perceptive, knows that Henley is still hiding something. But for the sake of his sister’s (and even his stepmom’s) safety chooses not to pry any further, choosing to simply wait until Henley trusts him enough to tell him the whole truth.

After watching a tree being struck down by lightning, Shy has been very afraid of thunderstorms. But her mother always taught her to face her fears, so during storms she’ll be at the window watching the lightning. She still flinches every time though.
