Hey ! How do u make Si doms more open and accepting of different methods ?

It’s not really very hard. First of all, you have to make a very detailed description of said method and specify what it will exactly require, covering all aspects if possible, even the ones that might seem most unnecessary. Secondly, you have to convince them of why this approach is better and how it would work for the best of the task. As Si doms, we will have a tried and true method of doing things thus deem pointless changing it but if you explain exactly what would make the new approach better (by for instance comparing it with the tried method) and we think it makes sense, we will try to work out this new approach to experience its benefits first hand.

That said, if it doesn’t work the first time, and unless we understood properly why it failed and could think of a safe solution, we’ll be pretty reluctant to try it again, fearing worse consequences (low Ne) because from my experience, we need lots of confidence to dare to change things and only once we have it, are we willing to try new things.

So to sum up: show them you’re sure it’s gonna work and why and once they’ve understood and agreed, they will work with you to make it possible.

One of the things I see written a lot about folks with primary and auxiliary Si that miffs me a bit is the idea that strong Si users “value traditions” or tend toward the traditional, which is loaded with unfair connotations. We keep traditions, sure, but those traditions don’t necessarily adhere to stereotypical traditionalism, aka nuclear families and “traditional values,” that sort of outdated stuff. 

We just tend to stick to the familiar. We like doing things we’ve always done, like making cookies to celebrate the first snow of winter or going to the library on Saturdays or getting absolutely wasted with our buddies at the same bar we’ve been going to since we were all just old enough to drink.

Y’know, traditions.
