plus it was part of that era of anime where using Christian imagery and angels was the cool and edgy thing to do

tbh I feel Eva is overrated and I've seen it but I didn't really /watch/ it which is just as well because my depressed ass didn't need it
Yea that seems to be the one takeaway I see about Eva: it’s depressing.
Which probably means that I won’t actually end up liking it because I pretty much never like overwhelmingly depressing things (my relationship with Nana, for example, is very love/HATE).
I’m also not generally that into mecha stuff. Though the biggest reason I want to watch Eva is because a lot of people compare it to Xenogears, another mecha property that has a lot of Christian imagery and where you have to throw down with god and stuff which I do love a lot.
I’m pretty sure that because I never watched it before and because of my age now, it won’t have that big of an impact on me, but who knows.
Hey, @sildih, hey @pudgy-puk, hey @chocographs. I know all three of you have me blocked, so I cannot directly respond to the callout post Terpy made about my girlfriend and that the three of you are cross-promoting. I fucking see you.
It is disingenuous to say the least to treat the scenario that played out over the last few months as if it was my girlfriend browbeating and covertly bullying you out of complaining about Stormblood out of some kind of Garlean-loving racist mania, which you have implied if not outright stated in quite a few posts on twitter and tumblr since you unceremoniously blocked both of us. I’ve been staying quiet, and so has Jo, because this didn’t seem like something appropriate to drag into the public light.
This isn’t going to be a point by point refutation of your post. That’s giving you far too much credit.
So I know due to lack of time and such that the Shofie origin comic has been put on hold. what were the plots you were hoping to cover there, if you can talk about them?
The Mahowyn origin story got postponed for two primary reasons:
-Lack of time to devote to it, due to me essentially working two jobs;-More importantly, major lore points keep getting retcons, and make it difficult to address those things in the framework of the kind of comic we wanted to do. (i.e. Au ra got introduced, and had “always been there”, even though they really hadn’t been…that would’ve left us scrambling to explain why no one mentioned them previously. That works in an MMO setting, but is a bit more tricky in a story setting where something major like “an entire race of people” should’ve been introduced sooner.)
The comic was going to be somewhat far-reaching and focus heavily on Shofie, as her “origin story” is a bit of a journey. I’ll has it a bit here, since a lot of this can be found on my wiki, and realistically, the comic won’t get made anytime soon if at all. Enjoy!Shofie grew up in a Keeper clan, the result of looked-down-upon pairing of a Keeper mother and Seeker father. This lead to her being bullied by her peer group, as Shofie stood out quite a lot and it was pretty obvious her father was a Seeker. Shofie showed some early promise with magical talent, and was sent off to Gridania to study to become a Conjurer, so she could be a mender for her clan. She was in a school for this very thing for “some time” (we never really worked out how long) before it became obvious that while Shofie had some raw power, her ability to use it productively was virtually non-existent. She describes part of the problem as her aether being “too big” for her body. She dislikes using it because she doesn’t think she can control it. Spoiler: She can, just not how she’s been trained to.A rivalry with one of the students, a boy named Kiht’a (sharp-eyed long-time followers here know exactly who that is) lead to a fight that caused a lot of property damage and likely resulted in Shofie either getting expelled or quitting.
Frustrated, as a teenager, she conjured up a fake name, and began taking odd-jobs for the Adventurer’s Guild, which in turn, lead to her eventually joining the Twin Adders.
Once she joined the Adders, she focused on physical training instead of magical and excelled, climbing in the ranks at a decent pace. She threw herself into this, with a sort of intensity. Her unit was sent to Carteneau Flats, and aware of the impending sort of unease, at the edge of the Flats, Shofie tried to convince her unit to abandon their post. None of them listened, and Shofie left, anxious and frustrated. The Seventh Umbral Era begins when Bahamut breaks free from the Dalamud.Shofie fled to the Limsa area, and encountered the pirate named Rhen and his crew, The Dusk Wolves, and offering to work for fare, they agree to let her board. When Shofie finally made it back to Gridania, she learned she was the only survivor of her unit, her cowardice saving her life, but leaving her with a survivor’s guilt she buries deeply. She is hailed as a brave hero, and she feels anything but.At this point, she’s run away from home, run away from school, and run away from the military. She has nothing left, and no where to go. She thinks she’s a monster, both for her actions at Carteneau and because of her increasing difficulty getting a grasp on her anger/aether.Finally, she turns her back one final time on everything, and approaches The Dusk Wolves again, asking to become a permanent member of their crew. Rhen agrees.
This isn’t even touching all of it, like Rhen’s backstory points we wanted to explore, how Rhen came to be the leader of The Dusk Wolves, or how we were going to tie this all in together in the modern day, where the former leader of the Dusk Wolves was out to kill Rhen and Shofie (mostly Rhen) and how The Whisker gets destroyed, etc. Shofie and Rhen falling in love and getting married, etc.It was pretty elaborate! I still want to do it, but man getting it out onto paper is daunting! Maybe someday.
18!
18. Is there a character that you would willingly sacrifice another character for? (i.e to negate or save them from death, give them more screen time, etc)
hraesvelgr should have died in the unlocking of azys lla instead of ysayle.

I'd be interested in this too. I feel this is harder to do now because groups are smaller/more fc-centric to avoid friction between social circles. I'd be willing to help set something up
LATE BUT the two of you are gr9 and I think you’d be good hangout buddies! Also hmu (also voluntolding teg up for this) if you do set up something! I’m not always xiv-available but I’d love to hang out more when I am!
