There is indeed some good sick!James fic out there! Let’s see what I can come up with. (And, because I’m sure I’ll forget something, if my McFassy co-mods want to weigh in, please do! significantowl, shayzgirletc, any others you can think of?) This is a genre of which we could always use more, of course. ALL the sick James in need of cuddles. *looks hopefully at other McFassy writers*
First, not because I think they’re the best but because that’s what came to mind first, there’s my two:
You’re My King and I’m Your Lionheart, in which James ends up in the hospital because of complications from appendicitis, and Michael somewhat accidentally proposes marriage out of relief;
and Found Love (The Most Beautiful), in which there is sick James, Michael having to cope with unexpected babysitting duties (they have Brendan for the weekend), unplanned marriage proposals, dinosaurs, and flying motorcycles (in crayon-and-paper form).
Then there is sick!James in chapter five of coffeejunkii’s Four Times Michael Crawls Into James’ Bed (And One Time James Crawls Into Michael’s), which is an adorable fic overall and you should read it anyway just because, but that chapter in particular will probably satisfy sick!James and comforting needs…
and treez_r_green’s All I Need Is a Miracle (All I Need Is You), in which James gets diagnosed with cancer, and James and Michael cope with that, and there’s a lot of realistic stress and love—but don’t worry, it’s okay, there’s a happy ending, I promise!
I will add almondmocha's A Short Vampire Fic in here because, while there is vampire!James, it’s also very much sick!James (because he’s been trying to NOT drink blood etc, and making himself ill) and protective Michael and comfort and sweetness, and basically it’s the fluffiest short vampire AU ever…
…and also ninemoons42's we used to be frozen, which is not exactly sick!James but is James suffering from cold and character bleed and melancholy while filming Filth, and running into Michael and sharing tea and warmth.
Off the top of my head and from my AO3 bookmarks, that’s what I’ve got (not including hurt!James, which would be a much longer list). Hope one of those works for you!
