kloktober day 22: sea horror or cosmic horror

i could have done some serious horror but. well i didn't. sorry. here.

Night time was the best time for Dethklok to have an ultra-exclusive Dethklok-only party (plus Charles). They enjoyed festivities long into the night, mostly consisting of drinking, getting Charles to drink too, and watching Toki jump off things.

Suddenly, though, the light of the moon dimmed.

"That's fucking weird," Murderface said, but he didn't look to see what was going on.

Skwisgaar did, though. "Does you all sees that?" he asked, pointing upwards with an ever-so-shaky hand.

Everyone stared into the night sky at the unrelenting mass of tentacles that took up the whole thing, reaching towards them, getting closer and closer and yet never fully reaching them. Oh, the indescribable horror! How could anyone gaze at that which gazed back and remain unchanged??

Easily, apparently. "Holy shit," Nathan said, but he didn't seem particularly bothered. "There's something weird coming out of the sky!"

"I'll, uh, get the broom," Charles said, but he didn't yet make any moves to leave.

"Aw, c'mon guys," said a familiar voice, although it was loud and booming and localized entirely within their heads. "It's just me."

The horrible unspeakable tentacle thing, apparently, had the voice of Pickles.

Murderface relaxed. "Oh, it's just Pickles."

"What ams you doin's up there, Pickle?" Toki asked. "I thoughts you was…" He turned to where he last saw Pickles, and he was no longer there. "Oh." Of course, because he was in the sky.

"Dunno," the enormous creature that was apparently Pickles said, his tentacles undulating. "I just got up here. It's kinda cold. Could you guys get me down?"

"Oh. Yeah." Nathan turned around. "Someone get a ladder!"

It finally happened. During last night's Ravenloft D&D game, I put on my best Rob Cantor impersonation and unleashed Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf on my players.

I have accomplished all I ever wished to as a Dungeon Master.

I opened the encounter almost verbatim to the song:

"You're walking in the Svalich woods. There's no one around, And you suspect the sun is dead. Out of the corner of your eye you spot him, Shia Labeouf!"

The players were stunned silent.

"He's following you About 30 feet back. He gets down on all fours and breaks into a sprint. He's gaining on you. And you can see there's blood on his face! My god, there's blood everywhere!

...roll initiative."

Watched this silly mini-movie this morning and it made me laugh. Not exceptional by anyone’s standards, but also not a terrible way to kill 15 minutes for fans of horrible horrors such as myself. -z
