Silver Surfer #1

I started reading this one at the end of its last run because it was a Secret Wars tie in. It was fun and since my brother was already getting it, I decided to keep reading. I was not disappointed. This is such a fun comic. That opening was just great! This alien race, broadcasting to the whole world that they’re going to take our greatest resource and there’s nothing we can do about, but then the Surfer and Dawn bust in, just so Dawn can tell her family she’s coming home in a few days. That’s freaking awesome! Just imagine being in that world, completely terrified and then these two walk in and basically make it a joke. It would go from the worst day ever to the best.

And there were so many other cool/fun things about this comic. I loved the celebrating all the missed holidays. Singing along to Wizard of Oz. The “greatest resource” being essentially our culture. That’s so clever! The Hordax then basically cosplaying as too many famous characters to name. And then I loved that the day was saved by talking it out and not punching. I’m always a big fan of that when it actually feels earned and this def was.

I’m already really excited for the next one. Once I have time, I’ll probs go back and read everything I missed from the run before this.
