kavik is 8 feet tall and mask is 5'7. and yes, she can pick mask up by the scruff of its neck like a misbehaving kitten and carry it around. it has happened before and it will happen again. they're starting to develop sibling energy and it's delightful

one of my personal favorite moments from my group's last session was the forming of a detective duo with an 8 foot tall goliath and a borderline feral 5'6 changeling. it went about as well as you'd expect, and yes the gremlin got lifted by the scruff of its neck like a kitten and bodily carried away from its incredibly conspicuous & self-appointed bodyguard duty

here it is !! a tentative design for my wild magic sorcerer mask, ft. my struggles with character design and enjoyment of incredibly fluffy hair ^^

anyway i mentioned fun facts so here!!

- they're around 19, and on the short side. their real name is sim thimble, but they go by the alias mask to hide their identity

- before adventuring, it lived with its large family- two grandparents, 7 uncles/aunts, 4 older cousins, 3 younger cousins, 3 stepsiblings & 2 half siblings, 1 mom & 1 stepmom

- they never knew their other biological parent, though logically that's where their changeling ancestry came from, and that's who they're currently searching for

- it's been struggling to keep its magic under control its whole life, and about a year ago after an accident where it nearly hurt its youngest sibling it ran away from home to keep its family safe and find answers

- their lowest stat is intelligence at 11, and their highest is wisdom at 17 (which was changed to be their spellcasting since charisma didn't work from a character standpoint)

- it has an anxiety disorder, which doesn't help with it feeling like a danger to everyone around it because of its wild magic. some days are easier than others, but it's still terrified of getting too close to people because it doesn't want to hurt them

- they're definitely aro and possibly ace! they also learned to play the flute as a way to release stress, and stuck with it after they found out how much they enjoy it

damn there's a reason i've been calling this one the nightmare form huh

ik i’m the one writing the character but like,,,, mask genuinely fascinates me. it has severe anxiety and is also down to fuck with people anytime. it’s terrified of dying but at four hit points moved toward the fighting to help its friends. it doesn’t trust the people around it enough to tell them its real name but also immediately turns to them for direction and reassurance when it feels off-balance. it has separation anxiety and doesn’t want to be alone, but also pushed away its first friend in the party and tried to get her to leave it because it’s even more afraid of hurting her than of being alone

it loves causing chaos but also needs things to go exactly according to how it expects them to or it’s thrown way off balance and struggles to keep up. it considers itself a failure as an older sibling but also goes out of its way to make a kid the crew rescued from a shipwreck feel comfortable, promise to protect her, and make arrangements for passage on another ship when they land so that she won’t have to wonder what’s going to happen to her. it wants to genuinely connect with the people around it because it’s not built for solitude or distance, but is too afraid of accidentally hurting them with its magic to let itself try

it separates itself into pieces in its head because it feels like ‘sim’ is too weak and got people hurt, and ‘mask’ has to be better & a separate person. it hides its face all the time but especially while shifting because it hates how the transformation process looks, and it hasn’t shifted into its true form in years because it hates its actual appearance. it has at least 3 mental illnesses and 5 complexes i want to study it like a bug but also wrap it in a blanket and pat it on the head can anyone hear me do you See My Vision-
