Dear You, Always Legacy Challenge
Gen 1: Letters Left Unsent - Part 4 | 7
Mia returns from Sulani with Esther, still unable to bring herself to read the letter Esther’s mother left to her. Whatever answers are in there can wait... But a baby can’t.
Back home, reality hits: Mia has no idea how to be a mother. Esther is around eight months old, and Mia spends her first days calling Marie for help and trying not to fall apart.
Her only real alone time is when her parents take Esther for a bit, which mostly means showering and crying at the same time.
Her parents are confused by the whole situation, especially the part where Mia casually came back from Sulani with someone else’s baby. They knew she loved Esther’s mother. They just didn’t realize how deeply.
Esther starts becoming more than grief in Mia’s arms. She’s calm, sweet, and eerily familiar. Every smile feels like a tiny echo of the person Mia lost, and Mia finds herself clinging to those moments more than she wants to admit.
More under the cut!

Her dad adjusts to having a baby in the house very fast, likely because he’s in some kind of ongoing grandchild competition with his sister, Harriet.
Louis ends up being an amazing uncle. Since it’s still summer and he’s home all the time, he becomes the second person Esther loves the most. Mia is mildly jealous because he slips into caregiving naturally.
Mia goes back to work, and it helps more than she expected. Getting out of the house, seeing people, and having something else to focus on makes her feel a little more like herself again. She misses Esther every time she leaves, but work gives her something solid to hold onto.
She also reconnects with Amira, and the two bond over motherhood, even though she refuses to shut up about Owen. Mia is both happy for Amira and quietly bitter about it. Watching someone else be loved and supported so fully while she’s grieving something permanent stings more than she wants to admit.
Esther likes Mia’s voice, likes playing with her, and is already showing how smart she is. By the end of it, they’re okay. Esther learns to sit up on her own, and Mia spends a whole weekend trying to help her crawl… all while wishing, constantly, that Esther’s other mother could have seen it too.
So much has happened since I've posted about them...

After trying for a bit, Elsa and Theo finally had their baby. His name's Louis, inspired by Theo's mother, Louise.
Marie and Mia grew up too. Marie is a straight-A student and dreams of attending college, while Mia is a bit of a mean girl, having already developed this behavior as a preteen.
In the meantime, Marie's plans change a bit when she falls for a boy from school. But we shall see whether that means good news...
As time went by, Magnolia noticed how much Laurel loved animals and plants. Every day, as soon as she dropped the children off at daycare, she was there: talking to her horse, tending the garden, present in every detail. Laurel, always busy, noticed Magnolia in a different way: strong, mysterious, someone who intrigued her. But Laurel was shy, and silence stretched between glances and unspoken words.

Timeskip! So... While Laurel raised her triplets alone, she needed a hand with the ranch. Then, she hired a quiet lady who has been living on the town's square all her life. She knew everything about ranch life, making her the perfect candidate for the job. More perfect than Laurel realized at first.
Magnolia wasn't romantic, but still, she was the one who proposed to Laurel when they went on a walk downtown to sell produce.
Magnolia didn't have anyone before besides her childhood horse, Dusty Rose. But Laurel's family opened their arms to her. So much changed that night... Mainly because Milkshake died during their wedding night.
With the girls growing up, Elsa finally had time to focus on her own hobbies again. She even considered pursuing a new degree, this time in Biology. But deep down, she couldn’t stop wondering if she really wanted Marie and Mia to be her only children. She suddenly desired to have another baby with Theo, and he didn’t seem against the idea either.

In the meantime, Elsa built a quadcopter for Marie, who quickly started showing an interest in tinkering, just like her mom. As a mechanical engineer and the daughter of a successful doctor and a space scientist, Elsa had always been surrounded by science and technology. Now, she does her best to give her daughters the same inspiration she had growing up.
Mia woke up upset, and her older sister quickly jumped in to make her laugh. Later, at Mia’s request, Elsa read her a book. Then, Marie and Mia’s cousins came over to spend the Sunday with them.
Elsa and Theo decided to try for another baby, but so far, no luck. Now she’s eagerly waiting for her fertile days. In the meantime, Elsa enrolled in that Biology course she’d been dreaming about as her second degree. She’s already pulling late nights working on her term paper, while Theo writes a book based on their own love story.
As in love as they are with books, Theo and Elsa took the kids to the library. Elsa started working on her homework as they enjoyed the day. Her peace ended when she got a call from her mom, complaining about her sister.
Marie is now a child! Theo and Elsa were still struggling to keep things afloat, so they threw her a small birthday party.

Soon, Mia aged up to a toddler. Differently from Marie, Mia was an angelic baby (and never kicked her dad five times in a row).
After a teenage pregnancy, two degrees, a house, and one more pregnancy, Elsa and Theo finally got married. The ceremony was private because their financial situation is still not looking good, but they'll keep working. They didn't need much as long as they had each other.
So, I am a big Star Trek fan (this me). I ship Kathryn Janeway and Beverly Crusher. That's my crazy story. Then, I created Sims inspired by them and gave them a wonderful life together because, for me and my dear girl @denzit, fanfics weren't enough.

As in one of the wonderful fanfics we've read, they had a grey cat named Maestro. Of course, he liked Beverly better.
The wedding. Yes, I started from the happy ending.
Katie got in with Tuvok, and Bev with Deanna. Picard officiated the wedding (we were trying to make a little angst moment for him, okay). Seven and Raffi also attended, and Wesley!
Slowly, their little house got more cozy, and they kept flirting automatically, which was pretty adorable. They've gone on a camping trip, which Katie hated and swore they'd never do again. That's so in character for her.
It didn't take long for them to decide to have kids. Their first would be carried by Kathyn, and you can tell she was absolutely thrilled with the experience. Luckily, Beverly was pretty supportive at all times.
When little Elsa was born, she had Beverly's hair and Katie's eyes.
Soon she became a toddler, and her moms decided they wanted another baby. This time, Beverly carried while working between her shifts at the hospital.
Here's Katie freaking out a little by the birth, and Elsa excited because she's a big sister to Violet now.
