Realising that it’s deeply important to me that Daniil leaves the Town post pathologic, especially post pathologic 3, because it is the fundamental rejection that he is Simon Cain. He rejects his inheritance of guiding the town in favour of the higher calling of the betterment of all of humanity. In a sense, I also think this is why pathologic 3 made the Kains stop caring so much about Simon and, by proxy, the polyhedron at the end of the game. The Utopians were always the representation of the future and progress. What’s more anti Utopian than following the wishes of dead men when you can do better?
