One thing I love about Cry of Fear is that there’s a track in which you hear Simon (the protagonis) screaming, sobbing, begging for help, cursing, the whole mess. a mental break down in musical form. YET not once is it seen as ‘angsty’ or ‘edgy’ in any way. It’s a very realistic take on how he’s reached the breaking point of his depression and how his mind caves in on itself. All the thoughts and feelings whirring inside. Like how thoughts ACTUALLY behave in the mind. How theres enemies that scream and howl and yet it’s never edgy. It’s never try hard.
Its very much confusing and stress inducing much like the real traumas he faces. It’s a horrifying peak into another’s reality. And seeing people play these games and the jokes they make show their own ways of coping with the trauma presented (I’ve seen those who both enjoy and hate the game have a same reaction to Simons scars - each have either gone quiet, or shown sympathy or even been VERY mindful to make no remarks on the scars at all and focus on mocking the monsters at hand.)
The graphics are simple but the story, designs and the music especially are touching. Even the asylum aren’t treated as edgy and is used as a symbol of therapy and the [REMOVED] exercises one would actually perform in the sessions to aid recovery. Very powerful.
Today’s question was about Simon’s book contents from David’s perspective. It follows the previous post about his prison sentence, so read it to clear any misunderstanding - https://nmoroder.tumblr.com/post/189651910669/theres-a-lot-of-text-and-ive-been-coming-up
I made a kin mood board for @medicalmysteries :3

There’s a lot of text, and I’ve been coming up with this answer for a long time.
Today’s question was about consequences David faced for his actions. Kudos to Sooslick helping me flesh out the headcanons I had and helping me on right track.
