Simon tilted his head as he looked Caleb over. He could tell that there was some kind of darkness surrounding the other. That was the reason he had been following the other, trying to understand if Caleb was some kind of dark practitioner or if he had simply been cursed. It was hard to tell without enough studying, but Simon was too impatient. Deciding to finally approach the other, Simon cleared his throat. "I'm Simon." He looked down at the other, his arms crossed over his chest. He had never been the best at approaching others, often going for the most straight forward approach. "I've been noticing you the past few days. I figured I should say something."

Simon had bargained with the Captain. 30 minutes, get to these damn coordinates and he would be free. She had promised this time. He felt a second wind, knowing he could pull this off, knowing he was so close to finally getting his freedom. He had earned it. However begrudgingly, however taxing and emotionally and physically draining it had been. He could decide if it was worth it later.

He could ignore whatever voices were trying to trick him again.

He was so close…

Simon glanced back to his maps, careful not to swing too wide one way or the other and loose precious time. He did a double take. Voices he could ignore. But there was a blue box taking up the back half of the sub. He squeezed his eyes shut facing forward again. He gritted his teeth. Ignore it. It’s not real. It’s just the oxygen depletion. It’ll go away.

Ignore it.

Why, yes, that is Simon Williams you’re seeing, Tony. The actor turned hero lands gracefully in the snow beside Tony, who was kept warm and safe in his heated armor. Thank God, too. It was well below what a normal human could survive out here. That said, Simon wasn’t normal. And he expressed it by landing wearing Wonderman swim trunks, rather than his normal costume. And not much else.

“Hold the phone, here Tony. Last time I was in the Savage Lands it was a tropical paradise. This is looking more like Ice Age. Did we make a wrong turn somewhere?“

The light was on again. Blinking and buzzing came from the radio on occasion, but Simon didn't trust it. How could he? The oxygen was low, it was just his mind... suffocating in here. He didn't think there was really anyone there. They didn't care. They never cared about him.

No one even bothered to call him by his name. Why would he ever think they saw him as anything but completely expendable? They needed the research of this stupid moon, because they didn't understand it.

But what had they done about the stars? Simon was a little tired of nihilistic dipshits who ran his life. Eden had seen it as divine rule and now they were the caretakers and... Well, that's when things got bad. The COI and the war...

The Station and all that going so wrong...

Why shouldn't Simon think this was exactly how things would turn out? Fucking hopeless. Fucking useless. All of it. Who was the nihilist now?

Simon wiped tears away, almost hoping for that British lady's voice again. At least he wouldn't be going crazy all alone.
