"Simon!" you said in shock, rushing to the nursing bed I was resting on. “Oh, my god, are you okay”
"Yes, of course" he murmured, trying to downplay him. But his expression said quite the opposite.
"He's an idiot, even I, the best shadowhunter wouldn't have risked me that way.”
"Jace, would you be the best narcissist anywhere else, please? You get in my way," you exclaimed, rolling your eyes and gently pushing the blonde in the direction of the door, where she came out without saying anything. "By the Angel, I can't stand it," you said, denying with your head and getting closer to Simon's bed. With a lot of work he lifted up and moved his legs so that there would be a space for you in bed. His expression of pain made you feel sorry for him and the bandage on his ankle worried you a little more. “How bad are you feeling?” you asked in a gentle voice. He was too beaten and hurt to dare say he was okay.
"Am I honest with you or am I trying to keep a rough-type image?” he joked, and even though it wasn't the best time, you had to admit he managed to make you laugh. “I feel every inch of my body hurt and I also feel like my head is going to explode" he admitted timidly. You put a grieving smile and placed your hand on his arm, taking care not to exert much pressure.
"You were very brave, Simon" you said softly. For some reason you dared to move just a little further towards him. “Very stupid too, because even though it hurts me to admit Jace was right, but...” now it was his turn to laugh
“…it was a brave thing.”
He blushed completely and looked away from you, hoping to ease his embarrassment in this way. You thought he was completely adorable.
"I just... I just did what I had to do, you know," he stuttered, looking a little more selfless. “To save you. I mean, save them. All of you.”
You smiled broadly and carefully took his hurt cheek to guide his gaze to yours. His arms with barely a few muscles tightened in the face of closeness and his green eyes shone wrapped in nerves.
"Simon, it's wrong for me to ask, but have you ever been kissed for saving their lives?" you whispered slowly. You saw his adam's apple move from top to bottom and then you saw his head deny almost imperceptibly. You smiled at that almost tenderly. Careful not to hurt him any more than you should, you came up to him and left a short but deep kiss on his dry lips. Once they split up, you had a smile of satisfaction. “Well, I have to go now and I think-” you were suddenly interrupted by the hand of the boy leaning on your neck who drew you back to his lips, this time further prolonging the duration of the kiss.
It was a brazen lie to say that you had expected that reaction, because Simon was the kind of guy who didn't handle the situation. But this time, you were surprised.
The second time they split up, you no longer had a smile, but a blush spread all over your face.
"Thank you for coming to see me" he went so far as to say, before losing the little confidence he had gained a moment ago. “I'll be all right, but... eh, I still like your visitors" he murmured shyly. You smiled with the same shyness.
"Yes, then... I guess we'll see each other" you murmured grievingly. “I have to go now, but I hope you get better soon" you exclaimed softly. You got out of bed in a way and he hid a grimace of fun. “Later, Simon Lewis" you murmured from the doorstep.
"See you soon," he said shortly, in response.
For a moment he forgot the pain and there was only the feeling of softness of your lips on his own.
"Do you see that man?" Isabelle asked, pointing at Simon. Apparently she was talking about him. "That's Simon Lewis, and he is my boyfriend.
