NEWS: BOOK 1 OF "THE WICKED POWERS" HAS BEEN POSTPONED (with proof, or so it seems).

[We posted this on X/Twitter, but the news has made it to Tumblr, so let's just repost it here as well😄]

Recently, Cassandra Clare shared that she had just finished writing "The Last King of Faerie" and that she had turned in the manuscript some days before.

Though it was initially announced that it was going to be published in spring 2026, the first book in the series now will be published in fall 2026. The presale page of Better in Black on Walmart confirms it in the description, stating the following:

Okay, so we've seen you all commenting "Well, this is not official cause it doesn't come from Cassandra Clare, this could be a typo, Walmart is not a reliable source".

Oh, well... We did in fact ask Cassie about it and she ACTUALLY replied on an Instagram comment, confirming that TWP1 will be published in fall 2026 (North American time)

(Although she's mistaken here, she DID announce it for spring, it was never fall. But that's just the way Cassie's memory has been crashing lately, considering the issues with some facts stated in Better in Back that contradict the previous canon.)

So, yeah, this was inevitable. We knew this was coming. And you may say "But she said she had turned it in already!"

Yes, she turned in the book, but please do remember that there's still lots to do afterwards. Even if the manuscript is finished, editing it takes some months. The editing stage implies a deeper revision for corrections, rewriting and potentially reworking from scratch parts of the text, all that takes no less than 4 months. Don't forget the continuity reading too!!! Plus the time designing the inside of the book and the cover. Also, printing usually takes place several months before the release date, it's not something they do 1 week before the publishing date, they need a timeframe that allows transporting the hundreds of thousands of books they print with major writers.

We also haven't had any news on the cover (let alone an established release date). Be reminded that Cassie reveals the book covers 1 year prior to the publication of the books. And as this is the start of a new series and the first stage of the grand finale, this book needs more time to properly advertise it, they will likely send ARCs some months before like they did with BIB. Let's not forget Cassie is publishing on a new publishing house, so they need time to make the people know they will be publishing TWP.

Considering all this, there was definitely not enough time, we're only 6 months away from the start of spring in North America😅

So, this is absolutely not a surprise. This was needed. There was no other option. This is all for the best, we all want this book to be worth it. We've been waiting for it for over a decade. The Wicked Powers better be the best books ever written.

Here are the instructions on how the Our Immortal Instruments read-along is going to work:

- this is 100% free and anyone can participate!

- we'll be reading one book a month (we'll be incorporating all TSC books including the books of novelas), and I'll host a liveshow once a month to discuss the book that we'll have read that month.

- These liveshows will take place on YouTube with a live chat active so that other people can follow, ask questions, comment etc.

- You do not have to have your camera turned on for this if you do not wish to. However, these liveshows will then be posted on YouTube so that anyone can rewatch them after the liveshows have ended, so if you do not consent to this, please let me know in advance.

- Since having a live show with many people will be complicated, I will accept only 5 members each month to participate in the liveshow of that month (everyone else can still follow via the live chat of course!)

- I will be creating a form where you can book your spots for the liveshows that you are interested in participating in. In this form, you will find the date and time of every liveshow + the books that will be discussed every month (depending on the order we decide to read these on). So you can choose to participate in whichever liveshow based on the spots available, the schedule that works for you or the books that you're interested in discussing.

- So, for those of you who want to re-read or read only a few books and not the entirety of the TSC books, you absolutely can! You can only read the books that interest you and join for the liveshows of those specific books.

I just watched Dr strange and i have a theory. Cassie said that in TWP, we will see characters from different generations unite and face the biggest threat ever. First i thought this meant that characters from TID or TLH will come back as ghosts or astral projection or some other magic but now i am thinking that maybe they will be brought back from a different universe or timeline.

Thule is an alternate dimension and the the time there is after the timeline that the non thule characters (the timeline we are seeing in the books) are living in. Livia was older then the non thule Livia and if she appears in TWP she's gonna be around 20. I think Dru is still alive in thule bc livvy said that Dru left and never returned. We also have to remember that Thule Kit is still alive. Maybe the alternate dimensions of kit and dru will be evil. Though they will be a little older then the non thule kit and dru but i dont think that will matter much.

Anyways, what im tryna say lmao is that the twp characters (aside from the mains) will be from thule and other universes where the timeline is different then the current timeline, i.e the timeline in the other universe is gonna late 1800s/ early 1900s where the TID gang is still alive.
