MAYBE IT’S MUGGLE SICKNESS
Well either Simponi is going to be effective for me, or this fortune cookie is a fuckin liar! [Image caption: a fortune cookie from Panda Express reads, "Health and happiness are in your future"]
I talked with my rheumatologist today about how my injection site reaction to Enbrel has doubled in size each week with it currently at week 5 and a 4 inch diameter rash of raised angry hives. I have zero benefit from it so far, and he agrees with me that those together likely prove Enbrel is a bust as well. His next choice is Simponi, which is still a self injection but just once a month. I’m honestly skeptical I’ll get a benefit from any TNF blocker again, but there’s no benefit to stopping trying different ones either so there ya go.
Also I’m annoyed I have to keep taking Enbrel until all the paperwork clears for Simponi (or whatever drug my insurance and rheumy agree on) because these weekly rashes are getting really irritating. Like I Get It about why he wants me to stay on it until I can switch, but ugh. I’m mostly terrified I’ll scratch it into a sore that will take months to heal and my prescription hydrocortisone only does so much.
So essentially psoriatic arthritis can bite me I WANT TO GET BETTER ALREADY
I have to switch medications for the first time in years, after doing research I am even more scared and freaking out about what my best option is. I think real life experience will be extremely helpful
So, have you or anyone you know taken Cimiza or Simponi for Rheumatoid Arthritis? Do you take either of these alone or with another drug (methotrexate) ?
Are you willing to share your experience on these medications with me?
Bonus points if you were trying to become pregnant or were pregnant while taking any RA medication
Thank you❤️
... Читать дальше »
Simponi is the worst you guys
Like taking it once a month is nice, but I feel way worse than I ever have on the other biologics. And my other 3 weekends aren't even free bc I take methotrexate on Saturdays. The first month I had to stay home from work on Monday bc I was barely able to get out of bed, the second month I didn't want to call in again so I dragged my sorry sack of flesh to work where I suffered through a barely productive week, and now for month three I switched the injection to Friday instead of Saturday in the hopes I'll get most of my suffering done before work on Monday.
Maybe I'll see results this month to make it worth staying on, but also like if I have to devote an entire weekend once a month to it idk if it's worth it. Like other biologics I could go do things on the if I had to and I was Okay, with Simponi there's no way. And I don't know if I'll be able to have a productive day on Monday or I'll still be sick.
My goals for the weekend before today were grocery shopping [with the help of my husband] painting my nails [for my treat], cooking one meal, and showering at least once, but idk how much I'll get to. My main goal has been switched to staying awake more than 3 hours at a time.
This is how it starts!!!
I'm having a reaction to Simponi 😒 this is my second injection and it's monthly so the reaction will be slower and I may get some relief before it gets too bad, but this is Not Good for the future of me on this drug
Just did my first injection of Simponi 💪 The pen is pretty high tech compared to others I've done, and the actual injection didn't hurt at all, but a few minutes later it kinda felt like I had gotten punched in the thigh. Now it stings and my head feels woozy, which I guess is a side effect. I'll see how this goes, but at least it's only once every 28 days.
