'Alright,' Kieren said, rolling his sleeves up as he sat beside Simon on the couch and grabbed the remote, 'are you ready to have your mind blown? I cannot believe you've never seen Scream. It's a classic scary movie!'

Simon chuckled and lifted his arm to let him curl into his side; it was instinct at that point, like they just slotted together naturally. Kieren really hoped his parents were going to stay upstairs like they promised. He was banking on Jem not being back before midnight as well. It would just be the two of them for a few hours.

He pulled the throw blanket across their laps and skipped the trailers.

'I'm surprised you even like things like this,' Simon said, but there was no judgement. He was just curious, as he always was when he learned something new about him. 'Considering everything we've gone through... I'd say it's enough horror to last more than one lifetime.'

'Yeah, I know,' Kieren said softly, and he looked up at him, suddenly worried. 'If you don't want to watch it, then we can just-'

'No, no, I want to,' Simon stopped him with a reassuring smile, rubbing his arm to settle him back into his side. 'I never watched a lot of movies growing up.'

'Well, this one isn't actually that scary,' Kieren said, resting his head on his shoulder. 'It's more of a comedy. And I went on doesthedogdie to weed out all of the Z word movies, so there's nothing to worry about. Just good old fashioned serial killer slashers and ghosts. Maybe some vampires.'

'Let's hope those aren't real as well,' Simon joked, and dropped a kiss on his hair as the movie started.

Amy: Aw, don’t be jealous Kieren! You’re pretty too!

Simon: *lying facedown on his bed* I said ‘neat’ Amy. Who says neat these days? It’s not neat to say neat, but I said it anyways because I’m stupid.

Amy: *pats his back* Don’t beat yourself up too much, Simon. Remember what happened when Philip confessed to me?

Simon: Didn’t you thank him?

Amy, glassy-eyed: I thanked him.

Simon: Have been for a while, but thanks for noticing.
