Sims poll time!
Me and my friend @happy-lemon largely fall on two opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to Sims storytelling. Hers tend to be more grounded in human reality and mine tend to be very aware that it takes place in a fantasy world. Her Sims act and speak like normal everyday people and mine tend to be aware that they're Sims and actively reference game tropes. The more I look around, the more I realize that a lot of Simmers tend to fall in one category or the other. So, with that explanation out of the way, which one are you?

I have a question for anyone who has ever made a Sim in any form of CAS in any Sims game that lets you edit faces.

It's chins for me. I get so self conscious when I work on chins because who studies people's chins, you know?! Am I making them too big, am I making them too small, am I making them all the same shape? How much chin is too much chin? How little chin is too little chin? Should I be using chin references? Does anyone even notice the chin? Am I going to look back on my Sims in a few years and be like "damn Laura what was with all the weird chins"?! DOES CHIN EVEN SOUND LIKE A REAL WORD ANYMORE?!
Hoo boy, that...uh...that neurotic trait really does a lot of heavy lifting in my life. 😮💨

Sims poll #2
I had a couple of people tell me they liked the idea of weekly Sims community polls so I figured I'd test the waters and see if people are still interested after they get a load of the stupid question I have this week.
But first, let's look at the results from last week's question. Way more people participated than I was expecting!
Results:
12.5% like referencing the tropes in the game i.e., the Sims are aware they're characters in a Sims universe, reference their plumbob, reference game mechanics, etc. I'm surprised by this because I thought there would be more! The Sims is a franchise with a very strong brand identity that we all know and love, so I definitely thought more people would work those tropes into their stories! It's ok, fellow trope-referential storytellers, there are dozens of us. 😭
37.7% think of their Sims as normal humans in human reality.
40.9% do both, occasionally referencing some of the more lighthearted aspects of the game for a joke every once in a while but for the most part, keep it grounded in reality.
8.9% were just here to see the results. Or they just wanted the serotonin hit from clicking on a poll. I get it. I don't judge you.

Who is the main villain in your current Sims story?
A particular enemy who doesn't want the main characters to be happy.
Society, man. People in general just won't let my characters live.
